Freyssinet Medal

This medal for outstanding technical contributions in the field of structural concrete is awardedat fib Congresses. Most recently, Freyssinet Medals were presented at congresses inWashington, DC (2010) and in Mumbai, India (2014). The Freyssinet Medals are a continuationof the medals of the same name awarded by the FIP.

This medal for outstanding contributions to both the field of structural concrete and the fib isawarded at symposia. Most recently, medals were given at symposia in Cape Town (2016) andMaastricht (2017). The fibMedal of Merit follows in the tradition of the FIP Medal.

fib Achievement Award for Young Engineers

This award is bestowed on engineers under 40 years of age. It is conferred every second yearat an fib Symposium. Candidates are nominated based on their PhD theses for the section thatrecognizes research and for participation in one or more construction projects for thesection that recognizes design & construction. All candidates haveto be endorsed by the fibNational Delegation of their country.

The first awards, sponsored by the Portuguese national member group, were presented at the fib Symposium in Berlin in 2001, in memory of Julio Ferry-Borges.

fib Awards for Outstanding Concrete Structures

These awards are presented at fib Congresses and give international recognition to structuresthat demonstrate the versatility of concrete as a structural medium. The award consists of abronze plaque that will appear on the structure itself and certificates conferred on the principalcontributors to the work. Nominations are made by fibNational Delegations and the selection by a jury designated by the presidium. The awards continue in the tradition of the former FIP Award for Outstanding Concrete Structures, conferred between 1990 and 1998.
