French Championship for the Modena, held in the weekend of 14 – 15 December 2013 in the “Parc des Expositions” Chambéry (F) Photos : Patrick Gonzales, pigeon judge (F) The English Modena is a so called ‘Chicken type’ pigeon from the group of Form Pigeons, that is because of the shape is reminiscent of a chicken, so the tail is carried upwards, the head backwards, a short back and the broad breast carried prominently forward. And in all this bird is round, seen from above, the side and the front. According to the Italian origin of this breed, we distinguish three varieties in marking; the Schietti for Selfs, the Gazzi for pied marking and the Magnani for multicoloured. The total range of colours in this breed is one of the greatest. At this French Championship Show in 2013 in Chambéry, over 1100 Modenas from different European countries had been entered. An impressive and respectable number.
