Go on a creative adventureWelcome to Worcestershire Open Studios 2018. Discover a wide variety of art and crafts created in Worcestershire this August bank holiday weekend, when artists, galleries and groups open their studios, homes and shared spaces for three days at 81 different locations across the county.

A diverse collection of original art and craft made by over 170 Worcestershire artists will be available to see and buy. From drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and glassmaking to ceramics, jewellery, textiles and mixed media in contemporary and traditional styles, there’s something to suit every taste.

Visitors will have the opportunity to delve into unseen creative spaces, talk directly to artists about their inspiration and creative processes, as well as a chance to purchase exclusive works. Some venues are offering refreshments, demonstrations and ‘have a go’ sessions – turn to the inside back pages for a full list.

Inside this guide you will find details of all the artists, venues, opening times, facilities and examples of some of the work you can see over the weekend. The venues are arranged geographically and there are outline maps to help you find your way around. Visit our website

We’ll enter completed feedback cards with five stickers attached into a prize draw for £100 to spend on artwork created by one or more open studios artists of the winner’s choice.

Jacqui Worrall – Colourful Creations BATIK ARTISTBatik is a spontaneous, exciting and magical medium in which I can explore my love of colour. My pieces are made on cotton cloth using hot wax as a resist, and a series of dye baths to build up the colours I use a traditional Indonesian method, using a tjanting to apply the hot wax. I then started to work with fabrics and studying dyeing processes and this really grabbed me. I cover a variety of subjects and enjoy taking my own reference photographs, this year has involved big cats and wolves as well as sparkly gems and insects.

Gilly HancockPAINTERI take inspiration from the ever changing seasonal moods of the Malvern Hills and surrounding countryside. Working mainly in oils, my paintings reflect my love of these landscapes. I also enjoy painting Greek scenes, capturing the vibrancy of the Mediterranean colours using a contrasting palette to that required locally.

Louise Pilditch PAINTERLouise is inspired by the wilder spectrum of landscapes from Wales to Svalbard, Norway. Her paintings start from being still in the landscape, sitting for ages to allow thoughts and feelings to arise, sketching, making notes and taking photographs. From this experience she developes the paintings in her studio, using gesso and acrylic paint.
