They are driven in a similar manner as piles with the help of pile driver . The diameter of the pile normally varies 1mm 35 cm to 65 cm and their length varies from 45 in to 30 m. Advantages: • Cost saving compare to other types of piling. • High load capacity and corrosion resistance Disadvantages: • High breakage rates • Vulnerability to damage associated with handling Type of machine used: Pile Drive A pile driver hammers a precast concrete pile into the ground. The pile is supported by the vertical structure of the pile driver and driven by heavy piston mechanism that follows it down the leads as it penetrates deeper into soil.
