KEYNOTE
Walter F. Mondale’s record of public service includes Vice
President of the United States, U.S. Ambassador to Japan,
U.S. Senator, and Attorney General for the State of
Minnesota. In his first year as Vice President, after visiting
camps in Thailand sheltering refugees fleeing the Vietnam
War, Mondale worked to significantly increase the number of
people accepted for resettlement into the United States, as
well as increase funds to build refugee camps in neighboring
countries. His efforts helped provide resettlement
opportunities for 1 million refugees, including in Minnesota.
