About Formula SAEINDIA

The FORMULA SAEINDIA DESIGN CHALLENGE 2009 is a forthcoming competition

which presents the Under Graduate & Post Graduate Engineering Students with a

stimulating task of designing, simulating and modeling a formula type racing car.

The competition is based on Formula SAE International series, which was started

way back in 1978 and was originally called The Mini Indy.

The concept behind FORMULA SAEINDIA DESIGN CHALLENGE 2009 is that a fictional

manufacturing company has contracted a design team to develop a small Formula

style race car. The prototype race is to be evaluated for its potential as a production

item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non professional weekend

autocross racer. Each student team designs and simulates a prototype based on a

series of rules.

The project fuels the exuberance of the youth by providing teams a platform to test

their mettle, giving them a pragmatic exposure to real world challenges as faced in

the industry. Students realize their talent through such an experience, making them

proven candidates for the future as technocrats, entrepreneurs, designers, innovators

and leaders. This serves the objective of bringing out student talent to serve the

nation for the years to come, in continuation with the vision Automotive Mission

Plan (AMP2016) a dream to make India an International Automotive Hub.

The FORMULA SAEINDIA DESIGN CHALLENGE 2009 scheduled for 11th December

and 12th December would be a high spirited event. We invite you to come and

awaken your spirits and experience engineering at its best.

Each Design to be judged with other competing designs to determine the overall winner.

Registration

� Teams can comprise of minimum 5 and maximum 25 members from same college.

� Payments to be made by DD in the name of SAEINDIA payable at Chennai.

� For the first 10 members the registration fee is Rs. 20,000/-

� For every additional members, an additional fee of Rs. 750/- will be charged.

� The fee includes free registration for the SAEINDIA mobility congress 2009 scheduled in Chennai from 13th to 15th December 2009.
