Volume 40 Number 30 July 23, 2017 Forgiveness Col. 3:12-13, Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meek- ness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one an- other, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.The child of God must have a heart that is full of compassion, sympathetic and considerate. Not only does Paul urge us to have a forgiving spirit, we learn a great lesson on this from our Lord in Mark 11:25-30 and Matt. 6:14-15. The command to have a forgiving heart is clear and absolutely essential if we are going to be pleasing to God. When we forgive, we should then treat that person as if the offense had never taken place. Sometimes it seems that forgiveness is given with strings attached. Where would we stand today, what would be our hope of eternal security if Gods forgiveness came with strings at- tached? Since we are to have a heart of mercy, kindness, meekness and long suffering, we ought to be able to forgive even in the absence of a request to do so. Forgiveness that is asked for and forgiveness that is granted will make us partakers of the agape kind of love. Forgiveness has the power to change lives! Beloved, let us love one another (I John 4:7).

Forgiveness Col. 3:12-13, “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and

beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meek-

ness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one an-

other, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave

you, so also do ye.” The child of God must have a heart that is full of

compassion, sympathetic and considerate. Not only does Paul urge us to

have a forgiving spirit, we learn a great lesson on this from our Lord in

Mark 11:25-30 and Matt. 6:14-15. The command to have a forgiving

heart is clear and absolutely essential if we are going to be pleasing to

God.

When we forgive, we should then treat that person as if the

offense had never taken place. Sometimes it seems that forgiveness is

given with strings attached. Where would we stand today, what would be

our hope of eternal security if God’s forgiveness came with strings at-

tached? Since we are to have a heart of mercy, kindness, meekness and

long suffering, we ought to be able to forgive even in the absence of a

request to do so.

Forgiveness that is asked for and forgiveness that is granted will

make us partakers of the agape kind of love. Forgiveness has the power

to change lives! Beloved, let us love one another (I John 4:7).

It is an honor to have you join us in worship at the

Northside Church of Christ! Our mission is to save

souls and to help souls stay saved. We extend our

sincere love towards you and we encourage you to take

advantage of the opportunity to have a bible study with

members who are eager to study with you. If you do not

share our like faith, this bible study, as well as your visit

today, offers a two way opportunity: (1) We have the

chance to share with you the gospel of Jesus Christ and

the essential steps to salvation. (2) You have the chance

to hear, believe, repent, confess, and be baptized where-

by being added to the Church of Christ. We welcome

you to investigate what you hear and see today. You

will be able to ask your biblical questions and receive

biblical answers that will guide you to make an in-

formed, life changing decision. Thank you for being our

Did You Tell Someone About Jesus?

Matt. 28:19-20 is the great

commission given to members of

the body of Christ. As Christians,

it is our responsibility to Tell,

Talk and Teach others about

Jesus. Telling someone about

Christ will often open the door to

Talk with them about Him. You

can then Teach them or invite

them to Church where they can be

taught. We encourage each Chris-

tian to take advantage of such

opportunities. If you know of a

prospect, and for some reason

cannot conduct a personal Bible

study, please give their contact

information to Bro. and/or Sis.

Oliver or to one of our Leaders.

Welcome to the Family!!
