1. BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The assembly, startup, identification and fixing of errors, as well as cleaning and
maintenance may only be performed by authorized, trained and qualified personnel.
Improper installation, startup, maintenance or technical changes, as well as use
of third-party spare parts void the manufacturer’s warranty!
During identification and fixing of errors, as well as during maintenance, all hydraulic
circuits must be made pressure-free by turning off the <HGPU>.
The required personal safety equipment must be provided by the operating company and
be used by each operator.
In case of malfunctions that you cannot solve yourself, or if you have any doubts,
please contact “TEST-FUCHS”.
All maintenance and service activities must be recorded in the log.
The work instructions must be followed step by step!
Not following them could lead to serious injuries or death!
The local safety regulations and the provisions of NFPA 70E must be observed.
During operations with the test medium “SKYDROL” information provided in the safety
data sheets needs to be considered and followed.
Changing the safety valves is not allowed.
Risk of death by electric shock!
During maintenance and service work, no current must be present in
the <HGPU>.
Turn the “Main Switch” (+1B-Q1) to “OFF” position and secure it
against being turned on by third parties.

2. LOCKOUT AND TAGOUT - PROCEDURE FOR <HGPU>
The customer is responsible for training its personnel, the provision of lockout and tagout
devices and realization of the procedure in accordance with standards 29 CFR 1910.147
and App A and NFPA70E.
2.1. STORED ENERGY
This stored energies are present even when the “Main Switch” is in position “OFF“ and
connections to energy sources were interrupted entirely:
- Opening and closing of the cover
(see item “OPEN THE COVER” in chapter “E“ (INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE))
- Heated main tank [500]
- Heated boost pressure pump [512] and high pressure pump [523a]
- Heated drive motor [524]
- Heated oil-air coolers [513a] and [513b]
- Heated hydraulic filters [514], [543], [563] and [820]
- Heated pipelines and hoses
- Charged batteries (+1E-G1), (+1E-G2), (+1E-G3) and (+1E-G4)
2.2. LOCKOUT DEVICES
The following appliances to cut off energy are provided and can be locked by means of a
padlock or other barriers:
- “Main Switch“ (+1B-Q1) on the switch cabinet
- Mechanic lock of the opened cover

2.3. INSTRUCTIONS
1) Shutdown the <HGPU> according to item “4. SHUT DOWN” of chapter “D” (GENERAL
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS).
2) Make sure, that the hydraulic hoses are not connected to a unit under test or an
other device
3) Mount the lockout device on the “Main Switch” (+1B-Q1) on the switch cabinet
4) Make sure, that the pressure gauges [551] „Supply Pressure“ and [553] „Return Pressure“
indicate 0psi
5) Attach a tagout device with an inscription, which suggests other persons, not to remove the
mechanic lock of the opened cover
6) Wait at least 1 hour before opening the HGPU because of cooling down heated
components.
2.4. OPERATING
If the maintenance is completed and the <HGPU> should be brought to normal operating
condition, check the following:
- Unused items must be removed from the <HGPU> and the <HGPU> must be functional.
- Personnel must have left the <HGPU>.
- Notify all personnel that servicing and maintenance is completed and the <HGPU> is
operational again.

3. BYPASSING THE MAIN SWITCH (+1B-Q1)
Bypassing of the cabinet´s locking mechanism is only allowed if it is done by properly in-
structed, trained, authorized and qualified personnel in case of malfunction or for maintenance
or calibration tasks.
Changes and/or modifications that enable the cabinet’s locking mechanism to be bypassed
permanently are prohibited.
When the <HGPU> is operated with switching cabinet door locking mechanism bypassed, it
is the system owner’s responsibility to provide the operator with the appropriate personal
protection equipment, based on the owner’s assessment of the risk. It is not permitted to
operate the <HGPU> with the switching cabinet door locking mechanism bypassed without
using the appropriate personal protection equipment.
Danger of electrocution!
If the main switch is switched on, the switching cabinet must not be opened
except in case of a malfunction.
Do not touch any live parts while the switching cabinet door locking mecha-
nism is bypassed!
Work instructions:
Access before operation (main switch in position “OFF”):
1) Open the switch cabinet door by means of a switch cabinet key.
2) Turn the lengthening spindle of the main switch a quarter turn to the right to switch on the
main switch.
3) Close the switch cabinet door so far as possible. A complet closing of the door is not
possible!
4) The <HGPU> is switched on and it is possible to operate, maintaine and calibrate the <HGPU>
with an switch cabinet door, which can be opened if necessary.
