Ultra low dose- Technology designed to minimize dose -

Aquilion PRIME incorporates a variety of advanced technologies into a new-generation platform to ensure high quality image while minimizing the exposure dose.

ACTIVE COLLIMATOR

In Helical scanning, exposure is needed before the start and after the end of the planned scan range in order to reconstruct images at these positions. This over-ranging requires at least one extra rotation, although only a small portion of this data is utilized.

Active collimation synchronizes the width of the x-ray beam at the ends of the scan range to the clinically useful area needed for image reconstruction. By eliminating exposure that is not used for diagnosis, patient dose can be reduced by up to 20%.

SUREEXPOSURE 3D

SUREExposure 3D is an user-friendly solution for applying automatic exposure controls that can be programmed into every examplan preset.

Based on the user-specifi ed level of image quality and the automatic attenuation measurements obtained from the patient scanogram, the tube current (mA) is automatically adjusted in the X, Y and Z planes to maintain image quality at a constant level. As a result, SUREExposure 3D alone can achieve a dose reduction of up to 40% depending on the individual patient and the anatomy to be scanned.

vHP (VARIABLE HELICAL PITCH)*

Variable Helical Pitch (vHP) allows to prescribe an exam that automatically changes the helical pitch at a user defi ned location during acquisition without stopping the table motion. For example, in a CTA aorta examination, ECG gated scanning with a slow pitch is performed for the thoracic, seamlessly switching to non-gated scanning with a faster pitch for the abdominal aorta. vHP provides greater fl exibility when performing combined studies while signifi cantly reducing contrast and radiation dose.

CONEXACT™ WITH DOUBLE SLICE TECHNOLOGY

Developed for Aquilion ONE dynamic volume CT, new proprietary algorithms using the coneXact technology are available for Aquilion PRIME.

Taking full advantage of the coneXact technology, acquired volume data can be reconstructed in double density, resulting in a more true-to-original reconstruction in MPR and 3D rendered images.

Ultra low dose- Low dose imaging and built-in protection -

An advanced noise reduction algorithm is provided to reduce patient dose.

Aquilion PRIME incorporate a host of both automatic and stand-by safety features to achieve the ALARA principle and prevent accidental exposure of the patient to unnecessary radiation.

AIDR 3D (ADAPTIVE ITERATIVE DOSE REDUCTION 3D)

Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction 3D (AIDR 3D) has been developed as the next step in the evolution of noise reduction technology.

AIDR 3D is an iterative algorithm, where noise is removed from the original data, the results are analyzed and the process is repeated until the target level of noise reduction is achieved.

DOSE INDEX VALUE DISPLAY

During scan planning the predicted total exposure dose of an examination is calculated and the estimated dose index values are displayed.

Published reference dose values are available for review.

DOSE REPORT

As specifi ed by IHE, the Radiation Exposure Monitoring Profi le is available in the software. This function automatically records all scanning data so the amount of dose for a particular patient or study can be accurately tracked.

This iterative algorithm is superior in removing background noise while preserving diagnostic information compared to non-iterative approaches.

AIDR 3D can be applied to all acquisition modes for routine clinical use and is able to remove up to 50% of image noise resulting in dose reduction of up to 75%.

BODY PERFUSION*

Body perfusion software analyzes the blood perfusion of an organ from dynamic scan images.

The perfusion application can provide additional information for the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of lesions.

LUNG VOLUME ANALYSIS*

Lung volume analysis automatically identifi es tissues in the lung fi elds with a CT number lower than the specifi ed value (regions of pulmonary emphysema) for visualization and analysis.

DUAL ENERGY*

Dual-energy helical scanning alternates between high and low kV with each gantry rotation. Also the mA is automatically adjusted for the two different energies to ensure a matched signal to noise ratio which increases the accuracy of dual energy analysis. In addition, Aquilion PRIME can automatically turn X-ray exposure off when the X-ray tube passes the front of the patient, thus minimizing exposure to radiosensitive organs such as the breasts and eye lenses.
