Why Do Smart Gardeners Plant In Fall?

• The ground is warm so root development occurs more rapidly.

• The hot & dry summer season is ending leading to cooler temperatures and more autumn rainfall.

• The winter dormancy period is less stressful on newly planted trees, shrubs and perennials, giving them a head start going into the next growing season.

• The plants at nurseries tend to be fuller with bigger root systems in the Fall.

So What Is A “Smarty Plant”?
