OPD : Ongoing Product Development

Engineering changes involved in the current/future

production parts (i.e. Post FDJ)

Engineering changes includes ,

New model year creation :

Creation of new item in Tce by referring

previous/current model year with some changes ineither geometric or material etc.,

Study files :

In which we need to give one or more proposals to the

engineer, to find optimum solution to the issue in hand.

Then engineer will analyze the study and will come upwith the best feasible solution.

Revising the trim lines/edges and the no. of item

usage.

addition/ deletion of features.

WERS :

Worldwide Engineering Release System

WERS facilitates communication

between engineering and manufacturing, consolidates worldwide

business practices, and eliminates redundant design efforts

between regions.

Types of WERS actions :

RV  – Revise action :

If there are no cost affected by the changes. It Wont have suffix bump. May or may not have cad ownership.

RP  – Replace part

When there is a cost change in place.

Suffix should get bump one level (ex. A A to AB).

We will own the cad ownership.

 AP/DP  – Add part / Delete part

This action applicable, when the item is either added to /deleted from

the BOM in entire system (CPSC).

Parts affected (B) screen

indicates the items which are all

going to be affected by the

change and as well as the

replacing part.

Below DS level, all theassemblies are in precise

condition (i.e. item revisions are

placed to the BOM )

Above the DS level all the assy’s

in Imprecise condition (i.e. Items

are placed in to the BOM)

Program Node for vehicle D385

Though we have changes

only in this part, we need to

update till DS level, since

Precise state till DS level.

In the hierarchy Above the DS

level, item will be in IMPRECISEstate (differentiated by white

background), so it will trigger the

latest revision of DS to Prg.

Node.

Teamcenter (Tce) :

By using the parts affected screen from WERS, we can

search the items in Tce and open in either Catia / IDEASdepend on the master format.

As per the Engineering Direction in WERS, changes are

updated to the cad and saved back to the Teamcenter.

Using Where Used / Referenced command in Tce, the

Subsequent DI And DS are updated.

And the DS new Revision as well as old revisions are

pulled to Vismockup, To check the effect of the changes till the

DS level.

At last the parts were uploaded to PPM audit, which will

extract attributes (i.e. Rev BLK, TITLE BLK, General notes as

well as BOM )

CN (Change Notice) :

Once we completed the changes, all the items are frozen and Published

And kept in the CN to apply REL-P (Release for Production) status.

The Main advantage of CN is ,

Sync between WERS and Tce.

Single Master

and will carry all releasable as well as non releasable item.

Once the Affected parts were added to CN then Submitted to REL-P and

CN will be sent to the Engineer by routing the workflow.

Engineer as well as Tce users in the distribution list of workflow,

will get an automated mail for reviewing the Package.

Engineer either can pull the data to Vismockup/ Cad for review

the Changes, once requirements are satisfied Engineer approves

the CN and date out the ENG SO line in WACTS screen (WERS)

In few cases one more additional line in WACTS, will be added

by ECC for DPA 5 OK. Once the engineer approved the changes,

DPA person will review the data for the effects of the changes by

considering Surrogating Products and will date out the WACTS

once design satisfies his requirements.

Then Release analyst will look in to the PPM, for attributes and

BOM with respective to WERS BOM and will date out the REL

 ANL line in WACTS.

By this time CN will be Released in Tce with REL-P & Effectivity

FLAG, And the Notice also released in WERS.

START PART – FNA

When ever need to create new parts For FNA body cad, we have to

initiate from start part which is available in Tce with the name “FNA START

PART”.

The main objective is Systematic structure of feature in the appropriate

geometric sets which will help in pointing out features at the earliest.

Ex.

Branding & Material thickness section should come into the geometric set

“DELIVERABLES”

And features used for creating mating surface boundaries should be within “MSB” geometric set.
