    The country's share in the world trade of freshflowers is 0.40-0.50% as compared to Netherlands65%, Columbia 12%, Italy 6%, Israel 4 %, Kenya 1% andother countries 12%.

    Demand for cut flowers, especially roses, is growing

    tremendously in India, as more and more people arebecoming aware of the beauty of flowers asdecorative items.

    Flowers are perishable products with a limited life

    span. Without any life enhancing treatment, its shelflife is three days to four days maximum

    Investments in this sector considerably low whencompared to other developed countries like Western

    Europe, Japan and USA.

    Odissa Government incentives Agricultural Promotion and Investment Corporation

    of Orissa Limited (APICOL) Government of Odissa extends financial assistance

    in shape of Capital Investment Subsidy (CIS) @ 20%of the capital cost (excluding cost of land) subject

    to a maximum limit of Rs. 20.00 Lacs against eachCommercial Agri Enterprise.

    Person with technical qualification is eligible foradditional 10% CIS. However, the total maximum

    ceiling of CIS payable to an enterprise shall notexceed Rs. 20.00 Lacs.

    The farm will operate at 100% capacity producing 9,60,000 cutflower stem in a year

    6.25% wastage due to mishandling, diseases & pests

    DISTRIBUTION Perishable commodity( 3 to 4 days normally)

    The cut flower would be quickly transported, sold on the dailyproduction basis to the shopkeepers. Selling directly to the shopkeepers or stalls will increase the margins.
