is a leading provider of fire safety equipment and with a background of over 40 years in the design, development, manufacture and maintenance of fire extinguishers, who better to supply your fire equipment than Firemark.

Following over 30 years of extinguisher manufacture in Bristol, Firemark decided to look at alternative options for a range of products that would give additional features and benefits over the existing, very successful Firemark range.

Quality, performance and reliability were essential.

With the in-depth knowledge built up from manufacturing in-house, Firemark understand the fine detail of extinguishers and are delighted to offer a market leading range, with very high fire ratings and unique features that differentiate it from anything else in the UK market.

Working directly with our manufacturing partners, Firemark hold the exclusivity on the range of low pressure extinguishers for the UK and Irish markets.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTIONThe design of our new low pressure range has been very carefully considered to givethe best possible balance between quality, performance and being competitive in

PERFORMANCEMany hours of design, testing and refinement have been conducted to achieve the market leading fire ratings obtained by this extinguisher range. Full details can be found on the following pages, but for example:

• 6L Foam extinguisher: 34A 183B* *(A 6ltr with a 21A 183B rating is also availble)• 6kg Powder extinguisher: 55A 233B** **(A 6Kg with a 43A rating is also available) • 6L Water Additive: 43A• 2Kg Co2 55B

the market.

Key features include excellent cylinder construction with quality internal lining materials and production techniques ensuring a very good internal coating. A mechanical fit extinguisher base and safety relief devices on valves.

In addition, on the ‘wet’ extinguishers stainless steel neck rings are incorporated to give excellent protection against corrosion and demonstrate the quality of the product. This feature is unique in the UK and will avoid the common reason for extinguishers to be condemned; internal neck ring corrosion.

Co2’s incorporate a ‘safe to hold’ horn as standard.

ACCREDITATIONSWhilst the product accreditations are extremely important, just as important to Firemark are the manufacturing department’s quality, working conditions and ethos.

The low pressure range is approved to EN3 by LPCB, has Marine Approval, certification to PED and therefore carries the CE mark and holds BAFE accreditation. The Co2’s are Kitemarked approved to EN3 by BSi.

The Company and factory manufacturing the low pressure range has ISO9001, ISO 14001 and OHAS 18001 demonstrating a clear commitment to ensuring quality in its products and processes and providing a safe and pleasant working environment for its staff.

Firemark staff regularly visit the manufacturing facilities factories to carry out audit work, to assist in the ongoing development of the range and to assist with new projects.

If you would like any further information on process detail or factory information please feel free to ask one of the Firemark team.

PRODUCT RANGEThe Firemark range is complete in all respects; please see the data sheets attached. There are alternative models also available with even higher fire ratings for specialist applications. Firemark also offer the best of other manufacturer’s products for specific applications and have a large range of fire blankets and ancillary items to ensure you have everything you need from a single source.

FIRE RATINGSThe Internationally recognised EN Fire Ratings System provides a means of measuring the effective-ness of an extinguisher in terms of the maximum size of test fire that can be extinguished.

Class A rating is related to a wooden crib fire 0.5m wide x 0.56 high x length. The fire rating is ten times the length in metres, eg 13A uses a crib 1.3 metres long.

Class B is related to fire surface area and the rating figure to the quantity of flammble liquid (in litres) of 1/3 water, 2/3 fuel that can be extinguished in a circular tray.

Class F relates to cooking oil and cooking fat fires. There are 4 benchmark tests using 5, 15, 25 and 75 litres of sunflower oil. The oil is heated to auto-ignition and allowed to pre burn for 2 minutes. Fire is extinguished and no re-ignition shall occur within 10 minutes of extinguishing the fire.

WATER EXTINGUISHERS

Water extinguishers are suitable for Class A fires involving combustable materials such as wood, paper and textiles. Water is a fast and efficient means of extinguishing these materials. It works by having a rapid cooling effect, so that insufficient heat remains to sustain burning and continuous ignition ceases.

Water additive extinguishers use an environmentally friendly additive that greatly enhances the performance against Class A fires.

POWDER EXTINGUISHERS

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Powder extinguishers are suitable for use on Class A, B and also Class C type fires involving flammable gases such as propane and butane. Powder is also highly effective for electrical hazards. This multi-purpose powder interferes with the combustion process and provides rapid fire knock down.

FOAM EXTINGUISHERS

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Foam spray extinguishers, (AFFF- Aqueous Film Forming Foam), are ideal for multi-risk situations where both Class A combustable materials and Class B flammable liquid risks are likely to be found, or where Class B represents a direct hazard.

Foam spray extinguishers are especially suitable for Class B fires involving flammable liquids such as oils, spirits, fats and certain plastics. The blanketing effect of foam spray gives rapid knock down which smothers the flame and thus prevents re-ignition of flammable vapours by sealing the surface of the solution.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguishers are suitable for fires involving flammable liquids and electrical hazards. The non-corrosive and non-conductive qualities of carbon dioxide make it an ideal choice for dealing with fires involving electrical equipment and machinery.

The carbon dioxide used is a recovered industrial bi-product, thereby reducing the carbon levels contributing to the Greenhouse effect.

WET CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHERS

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Wet Chemical Extinguishers, are ideal for Class F fires, involv-ing cooking oils and fats. It is extremely effective as the wet chemical rapidly knocks the flames out, cools the burning oil and seals the surface and preventing re-ignition.

Cooking oil fires are extremely difficult to extinguish due to high temperatures. Ordinary extinguishers are not suitable to tackle such fires as they do not have the capability to cool the oil sufficiently and may in some cases cause flash back – either spreading the fire or putting the operator at great risk.

The 6ltr Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher contains a specially formulated wet chemical, which reacts with the oil to form a thick soapy substance. When applied to the burning liquid, this cools and emulsifies the oils, extinguishing the flame and sealing the surface, preventing re-ignition.
