LITURGY OF THE WORD
RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 78
Refrain, Lectionary for Mass, © 1969, 1981, 1997, ICEL Music by: Michael Guimont, © 1994, GIA Publications, Inc.
SECOND READING Philippians 2:1–110 Brothers and sisters: If there is any encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and mercy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking one thing. Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but [also] everyone for those of others. Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God GOSPEL ACCLAMATION GOSPEL Matthew 21:28-32 Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards changed his mind and went. The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go. Which of the two did his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you: tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.” The Gospel of the Lord! Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! HOMILY PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL Archbishop: Let us now present our needs to God, who is faithful to His promises,
and always ready to respond to our needs: Let our response be "Lord, hear our prayers"

A’nhin pa ang kayamanan, luho at karangalan?
Kalinisan, pagdaralita, pagtalima, aking sumpa.

COMMUNION
Guidelines for the Reception of Communion
For Catholics As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy
Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including the intention of confessing as soon as possible (canon 916). A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.
For our fellow Christians
We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen and finally disappear, in keeping with Christ's prayer for us "that they may all be one" (Jn 17:21).
Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requires permission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 §4). Members of the Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Polish National Catholic Church are urged to respect the discipline of their own Churches. According to Roman Catholic discipline, the Code of Canon Law does not object to the reception of Communion by Christians of these Churches (canon 844 §3).
For those not receiving Holy Communion
All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another.
For non-Christians
We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.

COMMUNION SONG
TANGING YAMAN

MEDITATION SONG
IN HIM ALONE
REFRAIN: In Him alone is our hope, In Him alone is our strength
In Him alone are we justified, In Him alone are we saved
What have we to offer, That does not fade or wither Can the world ever satisfy, The emptiness in our hearts, In vain we deny (Repeat Refrain)
When will you cease running, In search of hollow meaning Let His love feed the hunger, In your soul till it overflows
With joy you yearn to know (Repeat Refrain)
DESCANT: In Him alone is our hope, Unto Him I pour out my heart
He alone will save me, With His love and mercy.

RECESSIONAL HYMN

AT THE CATHEDRAL PLAZA
PRAYER FOR SAN LORENZO RUIZ AND SAN PEDRO CALUNGSOD
Our Father in heaven, Faithful and Compassionate God, / we praise and thank You for blessing the Philippines and her people with two martyrs, / who have courageously given witness to their faith, / even in times of persecution and adversities. As San Lorenzo Ruiz was unafraid and ready to die a thousand times for his faith in Jesus, / we now pray to You through his intercession / that You strengthen our faith so that we may not waver in the midst of terrible suffering and pains. / Help us to anchor our last breath in the comforting and healing care of Jesus. In the passion to spread Your word / beyond personal comfort and geographical boundary, / San Pedro Calungsod has found his calling and martyrdom. / Please grant all Your people / the same ardent desire to share Your word wherever you send us / as echoers of our faith. / Challenge us all, / especially our young people, / to see you in the faces of your people. / Show us the value of deep friendship / as we boldly offer ourselves to friends in danger or in need / and profess our great love to Jesus, / who is faithful unto death. We seek the intercession of San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod / that you may keep the fire of faith burning in our hearts / so that we may follow their examples as Your disciples. / We pray that You may improve the situation of our lives / and respond to the needs of our families and communities / with faith, hope, and divine provision, / including this one: (pause briefly as you pray silently for your personal needs). Empower us with Your Holy Spirit / that we may take fearlessly any risk in testifying to Your great love, / in becoming mission partners in Your Holy Church, / and in serving You with great fervor, commitment, and joy.
