Dear Parishioners and Friends, Whatever we do, let's do it in the name of Jesus Christ. Why do you ask? The reason is that through Bap sm, we are incorporated into the Church of Christ, therefore, all our ac ons that we direct towards our loved ones, rela ves, friends and strangers should be done in the name of Jesus Christ. Some mes it seems that our ac ons do not have the quali es of faith, and religion, because they are completed everyday, and are simple, and mun-dane. Kindness, respect, honesty, understanding, humility, these kinds of human quali es represent the quali es Jesus had. We o en realize that although we were bap zed as young children - many of us do not transmit, proclaim and affirm the truth of God through conversa on, discussion and our own lives. In the Bible we find many examples that we are supposed to follow. Consider, however, today's three examples, three descrip ons, three pa erns of conduct that are given to us. Each of us analyzing the bible, ac ons, and pa erns that it supports is a prophet. Furthermore, these ac ons are supported by the grace of the Holy Spirit. How does Amos look at this? The Lord said, 'Go, bring prophesy to my people. "(Amos 7:15). So he went and preached the word of the Lord wherever he was sent. St. Paul, also found words targeted towards all those with whom he was seen. " In Him you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salva on, and in him you also believed and were sealed with the Holy Spirit, who was promised. "(Ephesians 1:13). We are afraid of hos lity, ridicule, contempt, but on the Lord gives us advice, "And if any place you visit does not welcome and accept you, and will not listen to your tes -mony,shake the dust off your feet as you leave as a tes -mony against them. (Mk 6, 11). Let us go through life in the name of Christ.. Let us give him our faith, love and let us reaffirm our faithfulness to God in his name. Let us go in the way of Christ and give Him tes mony any-where we are. Let us reaffirm our faith, our love and faith-fulness to God. A very warm welcome to our new vicar Father Mariusz Manka, who comes to us full of enthusiasm, energy and new pastoral ideas. Father Mariusz is very musical and loves to work with young people. He is also excited to meet and work with the en re parish. Fr. Mariusz le his parents and family in Poland and came to the United States to share the love of Jesus with us all. Let us welcome him with open hearts so that he feels among us like among family. God bless.

Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, Cokolwiek byśmy robili, mówili i działali, róbmy to w w Imię Jezusa Chrystusa. Dlaczego? Dlatego, że poprzez Chrzest, jesteśmy włączeni w Kościół Chrystusowy. Dlatego też wszystkie nasze działania które kierujemy do naszych bliskich, krewnych, znajomych i nieznajomych powinny być czynione w Jezusa Chrystusa. Czasami wydaje się

nam, że czynności, które wykonujemy nie posiadają cech wiary, religii, ponieważ są codziennymi, prostymi, automatycznymi.

Dobroć, poszanowanie, rzetelność, wyrozumiałość, pokora, to niby cechy ludzkie, lecz jeśli zapatrzymy się w życie Chrystusowe, jeśli weźmiemy z Niego przykład, to będziemy odwzorowywać niedościgły wzór życia Chrystusa. Zdajemy sobie sprawę, że mimo, iż na mocy chrztu jesteśmy do tego przeznaczeni – wielu z nas nie potrafi przekazywać, głosić i potwierdzać prawdy Boże poprzez rozmowę, dyskusję i swoje własne życie.

W Piśmie Świętym odnajdujemy wiele przykładów na to, by brać z nich wzór. Przypatrzmy się jednak tym dzisiejszym trzem przykładom, trzem opisom, trzem wzorom postępowania i dawania świadectwa. Każdy z nas wypowiadając słowa Pisma Świętego, czytając je, analizując – prorokuje; więcej, te działania są wsparte łaską Ducha Świętego. Jak wygląda to u Amosa? Pan rzekł "Idź, prorokuj do narodu mego.” (Am 7,15). Więc poszedł i głosił słowa Pana tam, gdzie został posłany. Tak samo Święty Paweł, znalazł słowa dla wszystkich tych z którymi się widział, współpracował, „W Nim także i wy usłyszeliście słowo prawdy, Dobrą Nowinę o waszym zbawieniu, w Nim również uwierzyliście i zostaliście naznaczeni pieczęcią Ducha Świętego, który był obiecany.” (Ef 1,13).

Boimy się nieprzychylności, drwiny, lekceważenia, lecz na to Pan daje nam radę „Jeśli w jakim miejscu was nie przyjmą i nie będą słuchać, wychodząc stamtąd strząśnijcie proch z nóg waszych na świadectwo dla nich!" (Mk 6, 11). Idźmy drogą Chrystusową, starajmy się w każdym miejscu i o każdym czasie działa działać w Imieniu Chrystusa, przyjmować reakcje i odpowiedzi jak Pan. Dawajmy o sobie świadectwo, potwierdzajmy naszą wiarę, naszą miłość i wierność Bogu.

Serdecznie witam w naszej parafii nowego wikariusza Księdza Mariusza Manka, który przychodzi pełen zapału i energii i nowych duszpasterskich pomysłów. Ksiądz Mariusz jest bardzo muzykalny i kocha pracę z młodzieżą. Jest również otwarty na pracę duszpasterską z wszystkimi. Ksiądz Mariusz pozostawił w Polsce swoich rodziców i swoją rodzinę i przyjechał do Stanów Zjednoczonych aby dzielić się miłością naszego Pana Jezusa Chrystusa z wszystkimi do których zostanie posłany. Przyjmijmy go z otwartymi sercami, aby czuł się wśród nas jak w swojej rodzinie. Szczęść Boże!

In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year anniversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which you can place the names of your loved ones: par-ents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be named, so that their memory will last forever. You can have your own name on a leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds from this project will be used for repairs of the church parking area and parish buildings. There are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engraving and moun ng of each small leaf, the dona on is $250.00, while for each large leaf it is $400.00. Praised be Jesus Christ both now and forever! Dear family of Saint Constance Parish, My name is Fr. Mariusz G. Manka and I am happy to call my-self an associate pastor of Your parish. I am glad that your pas-tor accepted my request and welcomed me in such a great place.

I was born 31 years ago in Kielce, Poland. A er com-ple ng my grammar and high school I realized that there is something greater out there wai ng for me. A er months of thinking, and deep prayers I decided to enter Major Seminary in Diocese of kielce in my hometown. While s ll studying there, I was dedicated to work with inmates at nearby prison house. I followed well known teaching of Jesus Christ to be with those who don’t have anybody and who need our love and support. Besides visi ng men and women in jail I also formed my own band in seminary, with which I recorded few CD’s with our own music and lyrics. I think that all that I was doing in Polish seminary was not enough, and I was thirsty of something greater in my life. A er four years in Seminary in Poland I was accepted into Bishop Abramowicz Seminary in Chicago were I was trying to prepare myself to work for Arch-diocese of Chicago. Once I completed my English classes at UIC, I began my studies in Mundelein Seminary. That was the most wonderful me in my life. As that period was coming to the end, I realized that yet the most beau ful was s ll in front of me. A er four years of theology study at Mundelein in May of 2012 I was ordained for Archdiocese of Chicago and be-came a worker on this vineyard. As a mo o for my priest-hood, I decided to choose a verse from the bible, which says: “But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world”. I am always trying very hard to follow my priestly mo o.

I have been working at two different parishes in past, and that experience thought me how to be a be er priest and be er person. I was serving at Saint Francis Xavier in Wilme e and also at Divine Savior in Norridge. Both of these prac ces thought me a lot. Now, I am excited that I will be able to share my talents and my skills with parishioners of the parish with great tradi on and wonderful priests. I hope that I will help all of you to get closer to God, and love him even more. I would love to be with you when you struggle, when you cry and most importantly when you laugh. I believe that you will help me to become a be er tool in Christ’s hands. I want to be with You and for You. Please find a friend in me and let’s create one family which love and respect each other. SUNDAY MASS ON TELEVISION Sunday Mass at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls the “Parish of the Airways” is seen on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m., on WGN-TV, Channel 9 in Chi-cago. Sunday Mass at Mercy Home, recorded at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, has been a source of spiritual nourish-ment since 1992 for those unable to leave their homes because of age or ailment to a end Mass.

mance of “ Ballet Folklorico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez” from Mexico. This group is considered the cultural representa ve of Mexi-co to the world. This ballet troupe offers a lively performance that is full of movement, rhythm, and technical perfec on. We will leave from the Bank of America Bank at 1:15PM on a comfortable bus to the Auditorium Theatre in downtown Chicago on Sunday, September 27 and will return about 7:00PM. E ven though I’d been traveling for work for many years before my son was born--and even though I’ve

traveled for many years since--I don’t think I really got the concept of traveling light un l Paul got involved with a local Boy Scout troop. The scoutmaster, a crusty old gentleman named Russ, insisted each camping weekend on choosing the site furthest away from the parking lot area. He also insisted that while parents could walk with their sons to the site to say our goodbyes, we couldn’t carry any of the gear. Literally, this was all on the young scouts, and they learned quickly that the lighter the load, the lighter the load. I had another epiphany moment when I read Lamb by Christopher Moore. Per the Amazon.com blurb, “The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice a er his thir eth birthday, but no knows about the early life of the Son of God…” Enter Biff, the Messiah’s best friend who has been res-urrected to fill in the blanks. What I remember most is Joshua--the Jesus character--and Biff returning home from the East, where they’d traveled to meet the Wise Men who taught Joshua about his messianic mission. Biff comes back with tons of accumulated wealth. Joshua comes back with a spoon, that he might be able to eat his daily meal. Brilliant, and yet I was s ll hi ng the road with too much stuff un l I had a third encounter of the packing light kind, and this one stuck. I had traveled for an overnight stay somewhere in the Midwest--Kansas City, I’m thinking--where I met a work colleague who had come in on a different flight. He had a car. I had a car. And when we’d parked them and walked into the hotel together, I saw that he had only a backpack (I had a backpack and a carry-on bag). I asked him about it. He said he was flying back the next day (me, too…), “So why do I need another bag?” He said he’d just packed a few more ar cles of clothing and his overnight kit and he was good to go. Obvi-ously, he was, and now, I do the same. But even this doesn’t surpass the traveling light command Jesus gives to his disciples in today’s Gospel. “…Take nothing for the jour-ney but a walking s ck, he instructs them. “No food, no sack, no money in their belts...” Seems a li le extreme, but I think Jesus is on to something here. Clu er weighs us down. More so, it distracts us. If we call ourselves disciples of the Christ, then our mission on earth today is the same as the Twelve’s mission on earth millenniums ago: to proclaim the Kingdom. But we don’t have to walk to Wilme e or Schaumburg or Brookfield knocking on doors to do it. We evangelize by the choices we make. Traveling light in this context means staying on mission, le ng everything we do speak to our discipleship. Trav-eling light in this context means embracing what’s really important and discarding everything else. Per Yogi Bhajan, “Travel light. Live light. Spread the light. Be the light.” Works for me. Plus a backpack, I mean. And a spoon.

Niech bedzie pochwalony Jezus Chrystus, Nazywam sie Ks. Mariusz G. Manka I bardzo sie ciesze iz moge nazywac sie wikarym waszej parafi. Cieszę się, że ks. proboszcz zaakceptował prośbę diecezji i zaprosił mnie tutaj, do tej wspaniałej parafii. Urodziłem się 31 lat temu w Kielcach w Polsce. Po zakończeniu szkoły podstawowej i liceum zrozumiałem że coś większego jest pisane dla mnie. Po wielu miesiącach rozmysleń i głębokiej modlitwy postanowiłem wstąpić do Seminarium duchownego w Kielcach. Podczas mojego pobytu w seminarium, byłem przypisany do zajęć z wieźniami w pobliskim więzieniu podczas których podążałem za naukami Jezusa Chrystusa który mówił, aby być z tymi którzy nie mają nikogo, i szczególnie potrzebują miłości I naszego wsparcia. Dodatkowo podczas mojego pobytu w Seminarium diecezji Kieleckiej założyłem zespół muzyczny, z którym nagraliśmy kilka płyt z naszymi własnymi piosenkami napisanymi wyłącznie przez nas. Podczas mojego pobytu w polskim seminarium odnosiłem wrażenie, że to co robię nie jest wystarczające, dażyłem do czegoś większego w moim życiu. Po czterech latach zostałem przyjęty do Seminarium Biskupa Abramowicza w Chicago, gdzie przygotowywałem sie do pracy w Diecezji chicagowskiej. Po skończeniu klas językowych na UIC rozpocząłem studia w Seminarium duchownym w Mundelein. To był najlepszy czas mojego życia. Kiedy okres mojego pobytu w seminarium dobiegał końca zrozumiałem, że najlepsze jeszcze stoi przedemną. Po czterech latach nauk teologicznych w Mundelein w maju 2012 roku otrzymałem święcenia kapłańskie i rozpoczałem moją pracę duchową. Jako moja dewizę życia duchowego wybrałem werset z Pisma świetego, który mówi: “Co do mnie, nie daj Boże, bym się miał chlubić z czego innego, jak tylko z krzyża Pana naszego Jezusa Chrystusa, dzięki któremu świat stał się ukrzyżowany dla mnie, a ja dla świata.” Zawsze staram sie podążać za tymi słowami. Pracowałem w dwóch różnych parafiach zanim zostałem przysłany tutaj, moje doświadczenia zdobyte w poprzednich parafiach pomogły mi być nie tylko lepszym księdzem ale także i człowiekiem. Służyłem w parafii St. Francis Xavier w Willme e i w Divine Savior w Norridge. Obie te parafie wiele mnie nauczyły. Jestem pełen zapału aby dzielić się moimi doświadczeniami i umiejętnościami z parafianami i parafią z tak wspaniałymi tradycjami i wybitnymi kapłanami. Mam nadzieję, że pomogę wam zbliżyć się jeszcze bardziej do Boga i wychwalać go ponad wszystko. Chciałbym wam towarzyszyć w waszych trudach, ocierać wasze łzy, ale przede wszystkim z wami sie radować. Wierzę, że pomożecie mi stać się lepszym narzędziem w rękach Chrystusa. Chcę być z wami i dla was. Mam nadzieję, że znajdziecie we mnie swojego przyjaciela i wspólnie uda nam się stworzyć jedną kochajacą się oraz szanujacą się rodzinę parafii św. Konstancji. Ks. INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka.
