Fifteen people including some Hollywood stars were indicted on new charges Tuesday in the nationwide college admissions cheating scandal that exploded into the headlines last month. A grand jury sitting in US District Court in Boston handed up indictments against fifteen wealthy parents on money laundering charges stemming from the alleged scam, according to the US Attorney. A second superseding indictment of conspiring to commit fraud and money laundering. They were previously charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. The parents allegedly paid bribes to have their children falsely designated as athletic recruits at elite colleges and universities, or to facilitate cheating on their childrens SAT and ACT exams. The second superseding indictment also charges the defendants with conspiring to launder the bribes and other payments in furtherance of the fraud by funneling them through a purported charity and a for- profit corporation, Some paid bribes to have their daugh- ters falsely presented as a crew recruits when they applied to USC. This recent scandal highlights the trend of selfish people who seek to get their way at any cost. The Bible warns of people who only do what is right in their own eyes. While the action of these parents is unthinkable to most of us, we should examine ourselves to see if it is be- cause of our stellar character or is it more because of our lack of funds. Any time we put our will above Gods we are being selfish. That is the same spirit that caused Satan to fall from Heaven, Adam and Eve to fall in the garden and you and I to fall into personal sins. These parents ac- tions were hurtful to others and we must realize our sins are hurtful as well. Jesus went to the cross because of our selfishness. When you hear of the wrongful deeds of oth- ers, take a moment to examine your own heart and thank God for sending Jesus to pay the price for our wrongs. Thanking Jesus,

"Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or

make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not

dressed as beautifully as they are.—LUKE 12: 27

One of my favorite things about Spring is the flowers. There

is a purple iris in my yard that is mesmerizing. If you follow

me on Facebook or Instagram, then you’ve probably seen

more than a few pictures of it already.

Flowers remind me of how God takes care of me and my

family. To consider the stunning details found in just one

bloom of an iris, a lily, or any other colorful flower ought to

be a reminder to us all of Luke 12: 27. God will not let us go

hungry, or naked, or without any other basic need. He cares

enough to detail flowers down to the microscopic level so

He certainly cares enough about us to meet our needs—

especially when our needs seem insurmountable.

YOUTH CAMP UPDATE: Don’t forget to pay your

$100 final balance with $50 this month and $50 in

May. Camp is coming fast (June 3rd-7th)!

All our fear and all our failure, all our sorrow, all our

shame.

See the darkness, now defeated, overcome in Jesus’

Name.

We have overcome death in Jesus’ name! Jesus paid a

horrible, painful price for us on the cross so we may

spend eternity with our Heavenly Father. When we

become Christians, we are known as children of God who

will be with Him in heaven after our death. We can do

nothing on our own to earn or deserve this great gift from

God. God has loved us from the beginning and saw our

need for salvation. Sin’s grip on us and this world has

been torn in two by the death, burial and resurrection of

Jesus Christ! We will gather to celebrate this joy on

Easter, but the greatest news is this joy lasts for us

everyday. The next step is sharing this joy with others. It

will not be easy, but God will guide us in sharing this joy.
