Representation of Male artists

You Me At Six (Left)

As you can see, this band gives off a modern image with the members having smart/casual clothing and short, tidy haircuts. This band is overall represented with a modern influence and doesn’t specifically have one band member stand out more than another

Foo Fighters (Right)

From this photo of the band, you can tell that the members in this band aren’t too worried about showing off a modern, clean cut image as they all appear to be wearing casual clothing as well as having long hair and beards. This band shows a more traditional approach to representation as their style related more to their music.

A Day To Remember (Right)

The members of A Day To Remember keep a modern representation of a band as they all seem to be more fashionable than a traditional band. Although they mainly have a modern representation, there are aspects of the members which show a more traditional representation, such as having sleeve tattoos, ear stretchers, having more of a reckless image and focusing mainly on the singer Jeremy McKinnon.

Green Day (Left)

Green Day overall show more of a traditional representation of a band as their image is more of a ‘I don’t care’ attitude as well as them being dressed in dark, plain clothing with the two band members on the left and right of the centrally focused singer Billie-Joe Armstrong wearing leather jackets, something that traditional bands tend to wear.

Representation of Female artists The Pretty Reckless (Right)

From just this photo you can instantly tell that this band has a traditional representation, this is due to the band members being dressed in traditional leather clothing as well as black jeans. All are dressed like this except their singer Taylor Momsen, who is shown wearing lighter clothing than the others, as well as a leather jacket, this makes her stand out more than the other members of the band, enhancing the traditional view of a female fronted band.

Paramore (Left)

Paramore have more of a modern representation of a band as the members are dressed averagely, with no one in particular standing out from the rest, except from the singer Hayley Williams, who although is lower down than the other members, has bright hair which will automatically make her the focus of attention as well as her being the only girl in the band.

Evanescence (Left)

Evanescence show a traditional representation of a female fronted rock band as, like The Pretty Reckless in the slide before, they tend to wear dark clothing as well as having long hair overall being less worried about how people view them. Another traditional aspect of this band is that the female in the group, Amy Lee, is placed at the front and centre of the image.

Halestorm (Right)

This female fronted band show both traditional and modern aspects of representation as the male members wear traditional, grey/dark clothing as well as a dominating appearance, but are overwhelmed by the female singer Lzzy Hale, who is shown with a more modern representation as she is wearing more modern, fashionable clothing which more females can relate to.
