Why are we going?
Aims of our visit•To experience a wild place (river study, ghyll scrambling, fell walks, art, etc)
•To explore the locality (fells, rivers) and develop geographical skills (river study, map reading)
• To build strong relationships, based on trust and perseverance
•To develop independence and resilience
Basic Kit list:Packed lunch for first day

Large plastic bin liner (for wet/dirty clothes)
Kit list (cont):Camera (preferably disposable)
NO MOBILE PHONES, iPods, OR ELECTRONIC GAMES PLEASE.
(There won’t be any time or internet signal!)All waterproof clothing, wellies and specialist
equipment (helmets etc) will be provided.
All prescribed medicines detailed on the permission forms to be handed to Mrs Hughes
on arrival at Fellside in named bag with the instructions
Cost£135 per person
1. Bed and board plus specialist outdoor kit 2. Equipment for additional activities: games and books for
evening activities and free time, marshmallows and sticks, other additional snacks, art materials and clay, cameras etc
3. Additional First Aid and safety equipment: throw lines, emergency shelter, walkie talkies etc
Website updatesHopefully daily updates on Year 5 and 6
class pages with photos and blog/Twitter. These will be posted last
thing at night (signal and wi-fi dependent!)
Safety and risk management•The risk assessments have all been approved by Kym Allan Health and safety team, who have assured us of their full support and back up
•All staff are experienced in leading residential visits
•Mr Walker is qualified to lead adventurous activities planned (ghyll scrambling and fell walking)
•Mr Walker,Mr Jackson, Mr Hawker and Mrs Hughes have all visited Fellside several times before with school groups.

From Keswick:Follow the A591 along the E side of Bassenthwaite Lake (signposted Bothel and Carlisle)At the Castle Inn turn right (signed Ireby, Uldale and Caldbeck)Follow this road through Uldale heading towards CaldbeckJust over 2 miles out of Uldale turn right onto a minor road (signed Greenhead, Branthwaite and Fellside)Follow this narrow road through Branthwaite to the hamlet of Fellside and the centre is the last building on the right hand side.

Out of hours emergency contact number is 016974 78566. This is the number for the payphone in the lobby at Fellside and we
will answer it as long as we are in the centre.
