PITCH IT! checklist
Come up with a clever product name and slogan. Who could manufacture / make this? Create a colorful, eye-catching box / package for your product that contains all pertinent information about the product. Create billboard (on posterboard) using propaganda technique #1. Create magazine advertisement (on computer paper) using propaganda technique #2. Create commercial using propaganda technique #3. You must choose from stereotype, bandwagon, name-calling and snob appeal for your billboard, advertisement and commercial. Think of a celebrity (you can even print out a picture of them) to discuss during your sales pitch, someone that would be a good fit for your product and why. The advertisement, billboard and commercial EACH need to have a 4-5 sentence typed paragraph explaining the propaganda technique used and how piece demonstrates this technique.

BANDWAGON APPEAL
The Nike swoosh symbol is filled with all the different kinds of Nike shoes, showing consumers the variety of products made by their company and insinuating that there is a Nike shoe out there for everyone. By saying "come together," Nike is
trying to get the customer to feel like they can belong in a group with all the other people that already have Nike shoes, like it's one big happy Nike-wearing family. The "right now" pressures consumers into feeling like they need to purchase Nike shoes as soon as possible so that they don't miss out.
Also think about the LeBron James commercial. How was that bandwagon?

SNOB APPEAL
The wording "My better is better than your better" appeals to people's desire to have / be the best. Consumers may read that and feel like they need to get some Nike shoes in order to be better than people who wear other shoes. Nike wants people who wear other shoes to feel inferior because they are not wearing the Nike brand of shoes. They know people want the best, and by purchasing Nikes they are on their way to being the best.

NAME CALLING
This advertisement could also be seen as name-calling. By Nike saying "my better is better than your better," they basically call out other sportswear manufacturers, saying that they are not as good as the Nike brand.

STEREOTYPE
This advertisement is an example of stereotype because it actually BREAKS a stereotype about overweight people. The boy in this ad is obviously overweight, but he is taking control of his fitness and doing something about it by jogging. Typically, we might think of overweight people as being couch potatoes, but this Nike ad is empowering people to take charge of their fitness. Basically, Nike is saying that their products can help you make a positive change in your life.
