Increase my Trust, O Lord!

Dear friends,

From time to time, I get asked what prayers help fuel

my reflection and closeness with the Lord. In these

cold February days, I offer this beautiful Litany of

Trust as one example. I pray it can be a ray of

spiritual light. It’s written by Sr. Faustina Maria Pia, a

Sister of Life.

Consoling the Heart of Jesus

Have you registered for this 10 week retreat by Father

Michael Gaitley, MIC? It is a perfect way to grow closer to

the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Spiritual Exercises of

St. Ignatius made simple. It will change your relationship

with our Lord forever! We will meet at the Mary Center on

Mondays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm from March 4 - May 13 (no

class during Holy week). Please call Julie Majette at

217-2426. We hope to see you there.

2019 World Day of Prayer Service

Everyone is invited to attend the local World Day of Prayer

service at St. Augustine Church on Friday, March 1, at

1:00 pm. A Bible study will be held in the St. Katharine

Drexel School Conference Room at 11:30 am. Participants

in the Bible Study are encouraged to bring a bag lunch.

This year’s ecumenical prayer service is written by the

women of Slovenia, one of the smallest and newest

countries in Europe. The theme for the Bible study and the

worship service is “Come – Everything is Ready,” based on

Jesus’ parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14). The people

of Slovenia challenge us to widen our circles and to expand

our outreach. World Day of Prayer is a worldwide effort of

Christian women of many traditions who come together to

observe a common day of prayer each year on the first

Friday in March.

Thank You from Steven

Thank you to all the members of St. Mary's

and St. Augustine for your kindness and

welcome while I was staying here during

January. It was very enjoyable getting to

know so many of you.

—Steven Wielenberg (Seminarian)

Sincere Condolences

St. Mary’s Cathedral extends condolences to the family of

†Loren Martin. St. Augustine offers condolences to the

Roste family on the loss of Chad’s brother, †Travis Roste.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord; and let light perpetual

shine upon them. May their soul, and the souls of all the

faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Welcome Into the Body of Christ

St. Mary’s Cathedral welcomes two new

members into the holy waters of baptism:

Paytyn LaVonne Rieland,

daughter of Zachary and Mary

Peregrine Michael Huss,

son of Michael and Cami

May God bless you abundantly as you

take this first step on your journey of faith.

Schumann Family at Youth Group

We will be having special guests at our Youth Group

tonight, Sunday, February 17! The Schumann family is a

missionary family with Family Missions Company and were

the leaders of our Peru mission trip last summer! They will

be sharing their powerful testimonies of how God has

shown up in their lives, so you won't want to miss it!!

State of St. Augustine Parish

Fr. Scott will be giving a short “State of the Parish” address

at next weekend’s Masses at St. Augustine. Following

Mass there will be an opportunity for questions and further

discussion in the cafeteria (with refreshments). All

parishioners are encouraged to attend and be updated on

Catholic Community Schools, the Area Community Church

plan, and specifics regarding St. Augustine’s financial

outlook.

as Paul and Jim Caviezel as St. Luke, can be viewed for free

at St. Augustine on Sunday, March 24, at 6:00 pm in the

violent content and disturbing images). The story focuses

on Paul in a Roman prison and Saint Luke who

courageously visits him before his execution at the time

Nero is trying to rid Rome of all Christians. Small group

discussion will follow the movie. Screen time is 108 minutes

with one intermission at the half way point.
