From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the

Immaculate Virgin Mary.

STEWARDSHIP & GIVING

Body & Blood of Christ: “Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them and they all drank from it.” (Mark 14:23). Jesus, the perfect steward, gave thanks, just before He gave Himself to us completely for our salvation. Jesus offers us the chance to drink from His cup. In the Eucharist, we meet Christ personally and, if we listen to Him, we know what drinking from His cup means for each of us. Often, it means our own sacrifice – giving up some of our time, talent and treasure to do His work on earth.

Feast of the Body & Blood of Christ

Presider……………………. Fr. Bill Thomas Assisting............................. Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planner……………. Maggie Atkinson Music Director……………... Teesie Chandler Interpreter for the Deaf........Brenda Brunette

Exodus 24:3-8: The old covenant was solemnized and effected by the shedding of blood. The Body & Blood of Christ is also a covenant, the new covenant. And because Christ’s sacrifice and bloodshed effected the eternal covenant, no further bloody sacrifice is necessary.

Hebrews 9:11-15: Christ, the ultimate high priest entering the Holy of Holies (that is, the presence of God through death, resurrection, and ascension), atones for the sins of the people once and for all. Christ, the eternal high priest, shed his own blood. Jesus—the unblemished, sinless one—achieved eternal forgiveness of sins. The words in each Eucharistic prayer, “This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant,” remind us each time of the perfection of his own eternal sacrifice.

Mark 14:12-16, 22-26: All the meals that Jesus shared during his life on earth (with sinners, with friends, with disciples) point toward that final and unending unity of love and shared fellowship. Jesus died and rose once for all. But we remember the mystery of our faith over and over again in the liturgy, each time bringing us closer to that final day when we, too, will drink of the fruit of the vine—and drink it new—in the reign of God.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week. CELL PHONES: Out of respect for the liturgy, please turn off all cell phones. Many thanks!

NO MORE TVs, PLEASE!!! We have been informed by the recycling team on Mount St John that they can no longer accept any TVs for recycling here at Si Lounge. The last load of electronics that went out last week did not include the TVs that have been left here, so I will be on the hunt to see if I can find some salvage group that will pick them up. If anyone knows of some place that might pick up the TVs we have in the hallway, I would be much appreciative of the information. Thanks for your understanding!!

TRAFFIC ADVISORY on MOUNT ST JOHN: Please be advised that it is planned to pour the concrete slab for the Chaminade Center on Jun 18th-19th. Traffic on and around the center of the campus will be VERY limited unless you want to take on a concrete truck! Please use alternate campus routes as the road between the Power House and the QAC Chapel will be blocked off on those days.

THE GIFT OF PREPARATION: An informational meeting, Wednesday, Jun 24th, Si Lounge, 7:00 PM. No matter what age you are or what your state of health, it is never too soon to give your family this gift of preparation. Please RSVP Joan Ivory, [email protected], (937) 689-8259 so I’ll know how many people to expect. Sponsored by QAC's Consoling Committee. Light snacks will be served.

HUMOR OF THE DAY! 1) A little boy was listening to a long sermon in church. Suddenly the red sanctuary lamp caught his eye. Tugging his father's sleeve, he said, "When the little light turns green, can we go?"

2) Dad's a safety-first kind of guy. But while vacationing with some buddies, he was talked into going parasailing. He was on the back of the boat getting hooked into the parachute when he nervously asked the pilot, "How often do you replace the rope?"

The pilot replied. "Every time it breaks."

VOCATION VIEWS

By sharing the body and blood of Christ we are sealing our covenant with God. We are given the gift of life and asked to share it with others.

Give thanks for this sustaining gift.

Please pray for vocations to the lay ministries, priesthood, diaconate, dedicated religious life and dedicated single life.
