FAQs regarding Entrance Exam & Interview for

M.Tech Programmes Offered in Association with FCRI, PALAKKAD

What are the specializations available?

Currently we offer the following specialization under Vel Tech FCRI collaborativeM.Tech degree Progammes

1. M.Tech Measurements and Control

What is the course structure?

Students will study their 1st year at VELTECH University, Chennai and 2 nd year at FCRI,

Palakkad. They will do their final semester Project work either at FCRI or in a core industrydepending upon their placement.

What is the prerequisite for enrolment in this course?

The Candidate should posses I class in his/her B.E. / B.Tech with relevant specialization and

with good knowledge in fundamentals & communication skills. As an exceptional case,students without I class may also be considered.

What is the Selection Procedure?

Candidates with minimum first class at UG level will be selected for admission based on

their performance in written test, GD and personal interview. The Assessment Criteria are1. 25% - Percentage of marks scored in UG

2. 40% - Written Test

3. 25% - Interview4. 10% - Ex-Tempo

Note: All applicants must bring attested copies of all mark sheets along with a statement

showing workings on overall percentage to claim marks under criteria I.

What is the syllabus for the Entrance Exam, duration, type of questions etc.?

It will be an objective type written examination for 100 marks. 100 objective type questions

will be asked. No negative marking. Duration will be 120 minutes.Refer the entrance examsyllabus regarding this. Duration will be 120 minutes.

What about the fee structure for this program?

Tuition Fee : Rs.1, 00,000 per year

Caution Deposit (Refundable): Rs.5000 at the time of admissionExam Fee : Rs.7500 per annum

Should we deposit the original certificates on the day of Interview?No, but you have to produce original or attested copies of certificates during interview for

verification.

When is the last date to pay the tuition fees and get admitted?

An advance payment of Rs. 10,000 has to be paid immediately after selection in theinterview on the same day. The remaining fee has to be paid within 10 days from the date

of interview.

How to pay the fees?{ installments if any?, Cheque, Cash, DD}

Candidates can pay their fees only through DD drawn in favour of Vel Tech Dr.RR &

Dr.SR Technical University payable at Chennai.

What are the documents to be produced at the time of admission?

1. UG Degree Certificate

2. All mark sheets of your UG degree

3. Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate4. Community Certificate

5. 8 Passport size photographs of the candidate (6 for Vel Tech & 2 for FCRI)

6. Passport size photographs of parents

7. Blood group report8. Any other relevant Certificates, if required.

Is VEL TECH arranging for Educational loan through banks?

VEL TECH University plays the role of a facilitator in this aspect.

Should the parents come along with the candidate for interview?

It is Optional.

What about Hostel accommodation?

Separate hostel accommodation is available for Boys and Girls. Hostel officials will be

available during the admission. You can contact them for all details. Allotment of hostel is

purely based on availability and on first come first served basis.

What are the working hours for M.Tech students?

Weekly 5 days, 8.30am to 4.00pm

What are the facilities available in the classroom?

Air Conditioned Class room with LCD Projector and white board are available for Lecture.

What about the placement facilities?

100 percent placement assistance will be provided by VEL TECH & FCRI. The advisory

council for this M.Tech programmes will have members from leading CORE industries who

will support students for industry interaction and placement.
