Learn about how we allocate our Title I funds 12 th Grade FAFSA Workshops, October 5 th and October 8th The FAFSA (the application for financial aid) opens on Tuesday, October 1st. We have two workshops in which our College team will be supporting families in completing this application. Please plan on attending one of these two workshops: Saturday, October 5th from 9am-12pm at CIPHS Tuesday, October 8th from 5-7pm at CIPHS As a reminder, the earlier you complete the FAFSA, the more access to aid you have, so these workshops are excellent opportunities to start this process off right! Hispanic Heritage Night, October 8 th , 5:30pm – 6:30pm Come join the CIP HS family as we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month Tuesday October 8th at the high school. Here we will honor the influential Hispanic Cultures with a host of events— a talent display, trivia, dancing, and of course great food. PSAT Exams, October 16th -All 10th and 11th Grade scholars will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16th. -This exam is a great practice for the SAT exam which scholars take in the spring of their Junior year. -All scholars should be in attendance that day at arrive to school by 8:15 AM. (Special hot breakfast for those who arrive by 8:05 AM!) -Scholars can be in CIP or college dress down. 9th Grade College Trip, October 16th and 17th Our 9th grade overnight college trip is happening on Wednesday, October 16th to Thursday, October 17th. This trip will be to upstate New York and scholars will be visiting the Culinary Inst. of America and will participate in a team-building program. The top 60 Riptide earners will be invited on the trip and receive permission slips next week! CIPHS Halloween Dance, October 25th, 6:00pm – 8pm Come on out for a spooky night of dancing, eating, and hanging out with friends. All students are welcome with a permission slip from 6pm-8pm. Best Halloween costume will win a prize! Now Accepting Kindergarten Applications for the 2020-2021 Lottery! Please spread the word- Starting October 1st, Coney Island Prep will be accepting Kindergarten applications for the 2020-2021 lottery! As a note, your child must be 5 by December 31, 2020. in order to apply. You can apply online at coneyislandprep.org/enroll. As a reminder, siblings of current Coney Island Prep scholars get priority, along with scholars of CIP staff, families living in District 21 and English Language Learners. If your child currently attends CIP and you are submitting an application for your other child(ren), please email a copy of both scholar's birth certificates to [email protected] so that we can apply the sibling priority. September 30, 2019 Staffing Change at CIPHS Dear Coney Island Prep High School Families, We are writing to inform you of a staff departure in one of our 11th grade classrooms at Coney Island Prep High School. Mr. Perez, a College and Career Readiness counselor and classroom teacher, will no longer be working with us for the remainder of the school year. We are grateful for the work he has accomplished while at Coney Island Prep and we wish him the best in him future endeavors.
