Fakro SLT Light Tunnel

The SLT light tunnel is a completely new FAKRO product designed to bring ample natural light to every part of a property. It makes it possible to illuminate all rooms in the building, even those which cannot be fitted with roof windows or vertical windows. Dimly lit interiors such as bathrooms, dressing rooms, corridors, staircases or basements can be particularly uncomfortable to use. Thanks to the light tunnel, natural light can now be used throughout a building enhancing the user’s comfort, and saving electricity.

The SLT light tunnel channels daylight which enters the light transmitting tube through a dome mounted onto the roof. The sun’s rays are reflected off the walls of the flexible tube on to the light diffuser fitted into an internal ceiling. The diffuser spreads the light, evenly illuminating the whole interior of the room. The light tunnel may also be used at night by installing a light kit.

Sunlight Tunnels Ideal for UK

Sunlight tunnels can be fitted with relative ease to all manner of buildings; they are increasingly

being used in both commercial and domestic new-builds to maximise the natural light available,

reduce the running costs of the building and create a more ‘human-friendly’ lighting solution.

Sunlight tunnels can also be retro-fitted in existing buildings with relative ease and are particularly

popular amongst those renovating older properties – many of which have smaller, older windows

and less natural lighting. Even in the often dismal UK skies, sunlight tunnels can provide a

surprisingly bright solution; the name is a little misleading as they don’t rely on direct sunlight but

work well when it’s overcast.

On a relatively dark day a fourteen inch tunnel can still produce light

equivalent to a 100 watt bulb.

Health benefits and Cost Savings!

Natural light is the body’s main source of vitamin D and it also has a significant impact on the body’s

circadian rhythm (a person’s body clock), which regulates our ability to achieve healthy sleep levels.

The amount of sunlight that a person is exposed to has also been shown to have an impact on mood

and energy levels. Installing a sunlight tunnel is not only beneficial as it offers significant savings and

a more natural, pleasant light in your home, but it may also improve your health.
