    FAITHTHROUGHSTORMS|(PS.CARLO)

Jesus Calms the Storm (Matthew 8:23-27)

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furiousstorm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesuswas sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, Lord, save us! Weregoing to drown!26 He replied, You of little faith, why are you so afraid? Then he got up andrebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.27 The men were amazed and asked, What kind of man is this? Even the windsand the waves obey him!

-How come is it na pag dumadating ang bagyo, walang warning? And sometimes, no

matter how prepared you thought you are, you realize you have not prepared hard after

    all.

-Storms in life come without a warning. Walang problemang nagpapaalam.

-Sa lahat naman ng oras na matutulog si Lord, dun pa sa panahon na may bagyo.

-Its as if he does not care.

-Peter, James and John were fishermen. And if they were afraid of the storm, that

means it is not just an ordinary storm. it is strong. Kung malakas ang bagyong to, bakit

    nga ba tulog si Jesus?

-Could it be possible that he slept because he is unfazed and unafraid of the storm?

Pero bakit? Because he is in control.

-Why are you so afraid? In reality, you should not be afraid. No matter how strong the

storm is, you must never be afraid. Jesus is together with you in the boat. Know that God

    is in control.

-Why was Jesus able to pacify the storm? He was able to calm the storm outside by

releasing the peace that was inside.

-You can only give what you have.

    1. Faith enables.

-enable = to be given the ability to do something

-Meron kang hindi kayang gawin, pero dahil may faith ka, nakakaya mo.

-Everybody of us has weaknesses. But exclaiming what you cannot do does not do any

good. You just justify your weakness. And most of the time, it is not that you cannot. It is

    because you will not.

-The battle starts in the mind. Madalas, kaya mo naman talaga. Hindi ka lang

naniniwalang kaya mo. Hindi mo lang gustong magsimula.

    Joshua 14:6-14

Now the people of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the

Kenizzite said to him, You know what the LORDsaid to Moses the man of God at Kadesh

    Barnea about you and me.7

I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD

sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report

    according to my convictions,8

but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the

hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the LORDmy God wholeheartedly.9So on that day Moses swore to me, The land on which your feet have walked will be

your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD

    my God wholeheartedly.[a]

10Now then, just as the LORDpromised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since

the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am

    today, eighty-five years old!11

    I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out;

Im just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12

Now give me this hill country

that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were

there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORDhelping me, I will drive them

    out just as he said.

13Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

14So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he

followed the LORD, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

-What is your conviction? What do you believe in? Because if you have nothing tobelieve in, if you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything.

-Caleb believed he still can defeat the giants. It seemed impossible but he believed hecan because God has kept himself strong. When you have faith, hindi ka tatanda.

    Numbers 13:2626

They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh in

the Desert of Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole assembly and showed

them the fruit of the land.27

They gave Moses this account: We went into the land towhich you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.

    28But the

people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even

    saw descendants of Anak there.29

The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites,

Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and

    along the Jordan.30

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, We should go up and take

possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.31

But the men who had gone up with him said, We cant attack those people; they are

    stronger than we are.32

And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the

land they had explored. They said, The land we explored devours those living in it. All

the people we saw there are of great size.33

We saw the Nephilim there (the

descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own

eyes, and we looked the same to them.

-Maganda na yung report eh. Kaso, may kaya lang.

-May grasshopper mentality (lahat para sayo, malaki) na nga, pinrophesy pa. There is apower in your words.

-Alam na naming malaki, mahirap. Wag mo na paulit-ulitin. Kumilos ka na lang.

    2. Faith heals.

    Mark 5

A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25And a woman was there who had

been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26She had suffered a great deal under the care

of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew

worse. 27When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched

his cloak, 28because she thought, If I just touch his clothes, I will be

healed.29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed

    from her suffering.

30At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the

crowd and asked, Who touched my clothes?

31You see the people crowding against you, his disciples answered, and yet you canask, Who touched me?

32But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33Then the woman, knowing

what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him

the whole truth. 34He said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and

    be freed from your suffering.

35While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the

synagogue leader. Your daughter is dead, they said. Why bother the teacher

    anymore?

36Overhearing[c]what they said, Jesus told him, Dont be afraid; just believe.

-Before healing, there must be pain. And pain is painful. May masakit bang hindimasakit?

-You benefit from pain. It is Gods instrument to expose who we are.

-Pain is always a precursor to a significant change. When there is pain, something willdefinitely change. *relate to acads, family, relationships

-Pain serves as a wake-up call. It is that important.

-Pain keeps us from seriously hurting ourselves.

    *paso

-Bakit ka laging bumabagsak? Manhid ka na sa pain. Pag hindi ka na apektado, matakotka.

-Pag may pain, you cant help but cry. And crying has always been a sign of life since birth. Pag hindi ka na umiiyak, pag hindi ka na nasasaktan, baka wala ka ng life.
