Library Room News By Lana Payne
It is wonderful to have everyone back at school! I have been busy in the library cataloging a variety of new books. The library is open to students with some changes to our past schedule. Each week I read to each class in their classroom. Students also have a special time for book checkout. All books are being quarantined three days when returned to the library. Students have been doing an outstanding job with mask wearing and social distancing while in the library. Due to health and safety concerns we have decided to postpone the Scholastic Book Fair until next spring. Book Fair dates will coincide with the week of second semester Parent Teacher Conferences, March 15-18, 2021. September 11th we held the kickoff for this school year’s reading incentive program: The 500,000 Minute Reading Challenge! We look forward to meeting and exceeding this challenge! Thank you for your encouragement and support!
Music Room News By Andrea Tritt
Welcome back, students!! In music, we hit the ground running! In the lower grades, we’ve been learning about the difference between beat and rhythm. We’ve been using rhythm sticks and bucket drums to play a steady beat and start playing easy rhythms. We have learned about dynamics from soft (piano) to loud (FORTE!) The students love to demonstrate these!! In the upper grades, we’ve been reviewing note value and playing beats and rhythms and some classes have begun composing their own rhythms! Our focus has been on fundamentals and playing more than singing. Singspirations has begun for the 2020-2021 school year!! We had auditions on September 11th and I’m happy to say we have 18 members this year! Old West Choir Fest is planned for November 7th. The event will look a lot different this year, more details will come out as the event date gets closer.
First Grade Class By Sharon Bird
The students in first grade are very enthusiastic and eager to learn. We have been learning class and the school procedures. We have St. Agnes School Spirit! In religion, we are learning that God is our Father and He loves us. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Calvert come to our classroom on Tuesdays to share the Word of God with us. We are learning so much from her. In science, we are discussing sound. We have discussed volume, pitch, vibration, and echolocation. We made pan flutes. Wow!!! The students followed all the directions and had a great amount of fun. What a wonderful learning experience!
The students have been learning about the tools that will be used when using Seesaw. We will soon be posting to our journals. In preparation for MAP testing, we did practice tests on the Chromebooks. This was a new learning experience for the first grade students. I am so proud of their efforts. We have a new student in our class. Her name is Heidi LaTowsky. Three birthdays were celebrated in August. Happy Birthday to Carson Windhorst, Courtni Schaff, and Calliopi Schaff. Thanks, parents, for studying spelling with your child. Please continue to read each day and study spelling!

What’s Happening at St. Agnes School………...
Celebrating 65 Years The 2020-2021 school year marks the 65th year of education at
St. Agnes School. For over 6 decades, St. Agnes has been touching lives through quality education and the development
of faith. During that time, hundreds of students have come through the doors and been impacted by the wonderful
community we call home. We are proud of each and every student and their accomplishments while at St. Agnes School
and the years beyond. We have produced professionals in multitudes of careers.
During these 65 years, a number of families with multiple generations have attended, which speaks highly of the pride our
families have for our school. We currently have 12 families (17 students) who are 2nd or 3rd generation attendees. How
amazing for such a small school! Thank you, St. Agnes families, for helping us continue the
tradition of providing a quality education in a faith-filled environment. May God bless us with another 65 great years!
