TWELVE YEARS OF GRACE

Had a birthday recently?  Just recently we celebrated my grand-daughter, Evie's, birthday.  Kid's parties are full of fun.  They are full of games, gifts, cake, and happy memories, but sometimes adults barely remember their own birthdays, as busy days get filled with all sorts of other activities.

A birthday is a day to reflect on the grace God has given throughout the past year, and to look forward to new days of grace ahead.  How did God sustain you throughout your difficulties in the past years?  What opportunities did God graciously give you to serve in His kingdom?  What did God remove from your life to teach you the greater reliance on Him?

For twelve years, Sunday by Sunday, God's love in our Savior sustained and preserved our faith.  Through the ups and downs, but mostly ups, of those 12 years, God's mercies reached out through the love of Christ, who died for all.

And there it is people.  Through my 12 years of ministry at Faith Lutheran Church you showed your love to me, especially throughout those years when I dealt with cancer.  But you could not share your love with me by yourself.  No, it was because God shared His love with you and you then shared it with me.

It will be a sad time when I officially retire on July 23, but I want it also to be a celebration of the time we had together.  And I said "we" had

3

together.  I've always felt that we have had a mutual ministry amongst us.

Sunday, July 23, 2017 will be a day to celebrate as we gather for Holy Communion.  It will be a day worth celebrating when you receive a piece of bread and some wine, the true body and blood of Jesus.  Even though this is my final day with you, and maybe it will be about me indirectly but not directly.  This is about our friend Jesus, who died for us on Good Friday and was raised from the dead on Easter Sonrise.  It is always about Him.

God has been so good to us over these last twelve years.  May the Spirit continue to blow over your life and mine as we continue on our journey of faith.

Pastor Bob

PASTOR BOB’S RETIREMENT – Pastor Bob’s last Sunday with us will be July 23, 2017. We’ll have one service at 10 a.m. and there will be a dinner afterwards here at Faith. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Please sign up ASAP (by July 2 nd or you may call the

4

church office before that date). Evangelism will do the dinner. The last Sunday to hear Pastor Bob preach is July 16th.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Greetings, Wow I cannot believe that as I write this letter July is upon us.  Although our attendance and giving were down slightly in May from last year, I am still excited about all the wonderful things that are going on in our Church.  As you all know, we are coming up on a transition for our Church.  I am however relieved to report that I have been in communication with the Synod (Sherry Kreiger) and after a few emails and phone calls I have a lot less anxiety about what we will be faced with in the coming months.  At the recommendation of the Synod I have secured supply Pastors to cover while a plan is established to allow us to have an interim Pastor.  The next formal step in the process will be meeting with the Synod at the next church council meeting.  At this time I believe the plan will become more clear. So if you have questions regarding the call process please get them to me prior to the July 20th meeting.  If I don’t know the answer I will make sure they are addressed at that meeting.  With that being said I am looking for some volunteers to be part of the Transition Team.  As prescribed by the Synod Call Process this team is established to help the transition of the exiting Pastor go smoothly as well as welcoming the Supply Pastors and eventually the Interim Pastor.  If you are interested or have questions please contact me.  May we all grow in FAITH,Christian ToomanFaith Lutheran Church Council President

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING NOTICE: As you can see by the condition of the parking lot we need to have it sealed and restriped to protect the investment made a few years back to resurface it.  The cost is in excess of the amount that Church Council can approve so a vote is required.  There will be a brief meeting after both church services on July 16th that will conclude with a written ballot vote.  If you have any questions please see a member of the Church Council.

NOTICE The white fans that were previously located along the side aisles of the church have been moved to the front of the church for safety concerns.

5

These fans are plugged in with extension cords.  Please do not move these fans nor unplug the extension cords.  Thank you.

July 16th and July 30th are still open. Let’s take advantage of reaching out to those special people at Eden Springs with God’s Word and His love.

Blessings AboundSunday, June 11, we had a prayer shawl blessing service with shawls for our military personnel and shawls for those people needing them in our local area. It was very powerful to have blessings from our God sent through the many hands of our members into the shawls which will then transfer to those using the shawls. The shawls will provide comfort, encouragement and strength to those to whom they are given. Thanks to Pastor Dan for doing the blessing service in Pastor Bob’s absence. Thanks also to our prayer shawl ladies – Annie Avers, Barb Kocsis, Gloria Root, Pat Root, Wendy Root and Linda Woessner, who prayed blessings into the shawls as they knitted or crocheted them for our military personnel. Their fast, nimble fingers got those ready for shipment in a very timely manner. Thanks to all the others who have knit or crocheted the shawls for our use locally. They are very important also and much appreciated. If there is anyone else who wants to share their God-given talent with us by joining the Prayer Shawl Ministry, please contact me so I can give you information and get you started. Yvonne Vogel
