LIMITATIONS
EGPWS SYSTEM OPERATION
- Pilots are authorized to deviate from their current Air Traffic Control ATC clearance to the extendnecessary to comply with an EGPWS warning.
- In order to avoid giving unwanted alerts, the Enhanced modes (Terrain Awareness Alerting andDisplay TAAD and Terrain Clearance Floor TCF functions) must be INHIBITED by selecting theTERR INHIBIT switch when within 15 NM of take-off, approach or landing at an airport for whichany of the following conditions apply:- The airport has no approved instrument approach procedure.- The longest runway is less than 3,500 ft in length.
- The EGPWS database, and alerting algorithms currently do not account for man madeobstructions.
- Navigation must not be predicated upon the use of Terrain Awareness Display. The Terrain Awareness Display is intended to serve as a situational tool only.
- The use of Terrain Awareness Alerting and Display TAAD function is prohibited during QFEoperations.
- For proper operation of Terrain Awareness Alerting (TAA):- QNH must be set on coupled side if ADC1 and ADC2 are operative.
- QNH must be set on the left side if ADC2 is not operative whatever the coupled side.- QNH must be set on the right side if ADC1 is not operative whatever the coupled side.
NOTE
The EGPWS does not take account of specific airplane configuration and climb performance and aPULL UP maneuver, for certain situations, may not ensure terrain clearance.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
For ditching or other off airports landings, the Enhanced modes (Terrain Awareness Alerting andDisplay TAAD and Terrain Clearance Floor TCF functions) should be INHIBITED by selecting theTERR INHIBIT switch.
ABNORMAL PROCEDURES
- An amber GPWS annunciation is provided for failure of the Ground Proximity Warning System .- An amber W/S annunciation is provided for failure of the Windshear Detection function.- An amber TERR annunciation is provided for the loss of the Terrain Awareness function.- An amber EGPWS annunciation is provided on PFD when the above three failure conditions are
present.

NOTE
After losing all radio altimeters, the basic GPWS MODES (MODES 1 to 6), WINDSHEARDETECTION and TERRAIN CLEARANCE FLOOR will not be available but the enhanced features ofterrain awareness alerting, however, will be available.
ON GROUND
- Prior to every flight: Perform a short system self test.
IN FLIGHT
NOTE
When any of the EGPWS alert lights are illuminated, the TCAS is placed in TA ONLY mode whichinhibits all TCAS aural messages.

TERRAIN CLEARANCE FLOOR
GNDPROX annunciation in PFD.
TOO LOW TERRAIN voice warning.Adjust the flight path / configuration until the warning light goes out and the voice warning stops.
TERRAIN AWARENESS ALERTING
The TERRAIN AWARENESS ALERTING use airplane geographic position, airplane baro-altitude(QNH) and a terrain database to predict potential conflicts between the airplane flight path and theterrain.
GNDPROX annunciation in PFD.TERRAIN AHEAD voice warning (each 7 seconds):
Adjust the flight path / configuration until the warning light goes out and the voice warning stops.
PULL UP annunciation in PFD.TERRAIN AHEAD - PULL UP voice warning (continuously):
Autopilot........................................................................................................................DisconnectedLevel the wings.Execute a positive pull up.Power levers.....................................................................................................................TAKE-OFFAIRBRAKES handle............................................................................................................Position 0Landing gear..................................................................................................................................UpSlat-flap handle................................................................................. 20 FLAPS + SLATS maximumMaintain best rate of climb until terrain clearance is assured.
NOTE
For enhanced functions, in addition to climb, a turn maneuver can be performed if the crewconcludes turning is the safest way of action taking into account the airplane position.
