Who can apply?

Our secondary education hostels are for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students of high school age who need to live away from home to obtain a secondary education.

ABSTUDY

Families are means tested and must meet ABSTUDY to be eligible for free tuition, boarding and where applicable,

travel. The ABSTUDY process can be lengthy. It is suggested you start your application as soon as possible. If your

child is not ABSTUDY approved an invoice will be sent to parents to cover tariff.

ABSTUDY approval must be finalised prior to the first week of boarding or by mutual agreement by both parties and

declared in writing. Government Departments placing students at AHL may be subjected to further charges.

For students to receive ABSTUDY travel funding to attend AHL applications for ABSTUDY must be approved under

“Home Conditions”.
