Dear Fellow Brother Knights,
I would like to thank you for your support in my first six months as Grand Knight. It was gratifying to see so many members and their families involved in our various activities, programs and events. I take this opportunity of acknowledging the generosity of our brother knights who gave their moral support and financial assistance to the family of our Brother Knight Butch Mendoza. This is a testament that we are living up to the principles of our Order ….Charity, and that ‘We are all One Fraternal Family”. My wife, Priscilla and I wish you a Peaceful and Joyous New Year and may it brings abundant blessings to each and every one of you. Vivat Jesus !

Grand Knight Edgar Ursua
Archbishop Duke Council 6855
Richmond, B.C.
Worthy Grand Knight and Brother Knights of Council 6855,
It is a privilege for me to be able to send greetings to all of you as we head into the New Year. Most
people would be preparing their resolutions in order to try to change for the better. What about us as
Knights? Do we do the same exercise only to abandon them after a few attempts? Or do we go all the way as
resolutions are supposed to?
My message to you, Brother Knights of Archbishop Duke Council, is to make your resolution but at a higher
level. Why not make your resolution to work on your spirituality to live your faith and to get closer to God?
Why not make the resolution to become more holy in the New Year? Increasing our spirituality begins
with prayer and we can achieve this by praying on a daily and consistent basis. Start this New Year with
vigor in prayer until it becomes second nature. In this way we can become better Knights who are in touch
with the heart of our Father through Jesus our Lord. Our membership theme for this year is “Endless
Prayer”. Let's epitomize this theme by doing just that.
I want to wish you all and your loved ones a very healthy, happy and prayerful year ahead.

DECEMBER 2010
FERDINAND and BLOSSOM SOBRINHO A member of our Council 6855 since 2006, Bro. Ferdi, as he is often called, has demonstrated strongly his time at the Order. Within six months after joining the Knights, he took his Major Degree and right now is already a Fourth Degree Knight. He currently serves in our Council as an Executive Officer in the capacity of Treasurer. Brother Ferdi is responsible in transforming our council financial system electronically. This task has helped our council in an improved monitoring of finances and easy disbursements. Bro.Ferdi together with his wife, Blossom are visible in the parish gymnasium on Saturdays being members of the KofC Fitness Program – DancerCise. Both joined the group in entertaining guests during the Anniversary and Awards Night. This couple, not only served as Waiter and Server, in the recently concluded Seniors Parish Community Event, but also entertained the guests with their rendition of Christmas songs together with the KofC Band.
Congratulations SOBRINHO FAMILY and God Bless !!!

A Wonderful Life
A Blessed Christmas and a Prosperous and Peaceful New Year to all brother Knights
and their families.
A popular movie, shown often this time of year, is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” In it the
lead character, in a moment of desperation, proclaims that “it would have been better if
I had never been born.” His “guardian angel” then gives him the opportunity to see
how much different the lives of his friends and family would have been had he, in fact,
never been born.
None of us will have that opportunity. But, like George Bailey, we do have a positive
impact on the lives of our friends, our families, and those in our communities. We do
this through our membership in the Knights of Columbus, by volunteering in our
Churches and communities and, not insignificantly, by making sure we have enough
life insurance.
Life insurance will allow your family to remain in their home, and maintain their
lifestyle, if something should happen to you. It will guarantee a college education for
your children, or even your grandchildren. It will ensure a comfortable retirement for
you and your wife. It can even help your favorite charity to continue its humanitarian
work.
No doubt about it – being an insured member of the Knights of Columbus helps make
this a “wonderful life.”
I’m at 778-837-2317 or [email protected]. Call me – let’s talk.
