Genocide: the annihilation of an entire group of people based on culture, race, skin color, nationality, etc.
Holocaust: Literally, “sacrifice by fire” (Greek) the mass slaughter of European civilians and especially Jews by
the Nazis during World War II
Denotation: the dictionary definition of a word Connotation: the feelings or emotions that are aroused by the word
