Supporting America’s Youth and Veterans
Message From the
Exalted Ruler
Marietta Murchison
Auxiliary members visited Driscoll Children's Hospital the week of 6/22 to deliver a $500.00 donation. Way to support such a great cause. — with Alicia Caballero,Stacey Core, Yvonne Moses & Debra Caballero.
As ER, I have the honor of representing our lodge at the Elks National Convention in Reno, no doubt there will be a lot to learn and bring back to our lodge; bulletin deadlines are scheduled earlier than my return but I look forward to vis-iting and sharing details in the lodge, come in and visit, I will be glad to share. There will be a district clinic in McAllen on Saturday, August 19th, the meeting is only one day; it would be great to have officers and members join me in representing Kingsville, please make plans to at-tend.
Membership continues to grow with six new pro-posals approved for initiation in July. Congratu-lations and welcome! We will be feeding the Javelina Football team on Sunday, August 20th and hosting a Chicken & Sausage BBQ fund-raiser on Saturday August 26th, both events re-quire a lot of teamwork, all help is appreciated.
Last but surely not least, as you are all aware, much of the hard work we do in our lodge and especially through our sweethearts is to raise money for Texas Elks Children’s Services, Inc. (TECSI). TECSI provides camps and grants to children with special needs in Texas. I’m excited to announce that based on the June 1, 2015-May 31, 2016 funds raised by Kingsville Elks Lodge #1926 that our 2017-2018 Special Grant Alloca-tion is $10,382.89, a lodge record! These dollars are available for children with special needs in our area, if you know someone that may qualify, please pass the word. For more information or to download an application, go to https://texaselks.org/special-grants. Thanks to every-one for all the hard work and donations for such a great cause.
What a great night in the Elks, four new members initiated! Congratulations to Thomas Craig Alexander proposed by Gary Alexander, James Charles Baker proposed by Ike Eisenhauer, Wallace G. Glasgow and Russell Greene proposed by Bucho Ruiz. Thanks to Ken Moses for filling in for ER, Mary Murchison who is attending the Elks National Convention and to all the officers and members present. Sickness & Distress Please keep the following members and spouses in your thoughts and prayers.
Member Ode Moreno recently had surgery. She is doing well and recovering at home.
Condolences to the family of Members Carl J. Karnath and Colin Karnath on the passing of their wife and mother, Miyoko T. Karnath, on July 8th.
Rita McCauley, widow of deceased member Dave McCauley, passed away on June 21st.

If you know or hear of an Elk or family member who are ill or has passed away, please notify us by leaving a note with the Lodge Attendant or by calling one of the Lodge Officers
I would like to thank all my brother and sis-ter elks who have been there for me and have stepped up to do what needed to be done in the lodge while health issues have had me down and out of the lounge some over the last few weeks.
As you can see on the calendar, we have some great food nights planned for August and a first, FREE FOOD FRIDAY on the 11th, check out the ad for details; you aren’t going to want to miss it! A special thanks to everyone that volunteered to help out cooking (blackened steak & fish, birth-day steak, fish, etc.), we need people every month, if you can take a turn please let me or Mary know.
It is a slow process but work continues to set up the new POS system; thanks to eve-ryone helping to make that happen. If you have some extra time on your hands and can offer your assistance, that would be great-ly appreciated.
Thanks to the Lodge & Auxiliary member-ship for your loyal support.
Fraternally Yours
Travis Murchison
Spotlight in the Kitchen
If you haven’t been in for a meal over the last few months, you probably haven’t met and/or tasted the great food that Frank has been preparing. You can come in the first Tuesday of each month for Taco Tuesday or any Thursday and/or Friday night for some great specials or order from the menu and see what a great job he is doing. Delicious, café/home-style cooking at a great price, come try it, we are sure if you do, you will be back for more! And!!!
We have a deal for you…...Come in on Friday, August 11th, purchase a minimum of 2 drinks and get a free dinner!

TEXAS ELKS SWEETHEART
AND RED PIG PROGRAM The Red Pig program was an off-shoot of the very successful California-Hawaii Elks Associa-tion Purple Pig program. All funds the Lodge Texas Elks Sweetheart raises for the Red Pigs goes to the Texas Elks Children’s Services Inc (TECSI). Texas Elks support nearly 350 children with special needs every summer. Any child with a special need, between the ages of 7 and 15, who is a resident of the state of Texas is eligible for admission to Texas Elks Camp. Texas Elks Childrens Services Inc is a 501(c)3.
Elks Camp has been serving children with special needs since 1987. Children who meet criteria are able to attend at no cost. At Texas Elks camp the number one rule is to have fun! In addition, Texas Elks award over four hundred twenty five thou-sand dollars in Special Grants for Special Chil-dren to deserving Texas children with various special physical needs. Our desire is to improve the current and future quality of life for children with special physical needs.
Children across the State of Texas have been helped with hearing aids, wheelchairs and com-puters with Braille capabilities, special braces, and a host of other devices that make special needs children stronger and more confident as they face their unique challenges.
Texas Elks take great pride in this project. We are proud because we see children in our commu-nities benefit and because this project has in-spired us all to become more involved. The appli-cation process starts at a local Elks Lodge. Kings-ville Lodge Chairperson is Rosie Swan. Contact her if you know of any child needing help.
Auxiliary News
In July, we installed a new member in the aux-iliary, Alicia Caballero, welcome and thanks for already jumping in to join fellow members in delivering a donation to the Driscoll Children’s Hospital. We have also sponsored a Riviera Elementary classroom for the 2017-2018 school year, Mrs. Reynold’s class has been re-quested but not yet confirmed. July was a busy month in the auxiliary, in addition to sponsorships, we also ordered a new couch that hopefully will be a nice new addition to the game room by bulletin publication; thanks to everyone that helped with the shopping, or-dering, delivery and set-up. As the Elks continue to install new members, I remind our membership to reach out to intro-duce yourself to the new members and if they have a spouse that isn’t joining the Elks as well, please extend an invitation to them to join us in the auxiliary. To our members read-ing this that haven’t joined us for meeting or social night, we hope you find time to come in, know you are missed and we would love to have you back. Time to do some fundraising, be thinking of ideas and bring with you for the August meet-ing! Hope to see you at the lodge. Tammy Moore President
