hat a year this has been! It is the year that Indian River Habitat for Humanity celebrated 25 years of service to hardworking families, not only here at home, but also through the help that we send directly to countries in desperate need after natural disasters, such as Haiti.

To celebrate what we’ve accomplished together these past 25 years and to illustrate what’s to come, we decided to do something a little different. This year’s annual report is a supplement to our 25th Anniversary commemorative book “Much to Celebrate. More to Come.”

In short, our affiliate is growing! I am particularly grateful for the increased number of families we are serving. Over 13% of the families we’ve served in our 25-year history were helped during this past year alone, be it in the form of new houses, renovated ones, or ones in need of repairs. But our ministry is more than just helping seniors and the working poor obtain decent shelter; it is also providing the 860 children that live in Habitat homes the opportunity of experiencing better health and improved grades in a more secure and stable environment.

In addition, because of the volunteering and generosity of partners like you, we expanded our retail operation, becoming the second largest Habitat ReStore in Florida. The significance, though, is not in the size of our store; rather it is found in the number of families we’re able to serve. Through the increased sales generated by an improved larger facility, the ReStore revenue stream allows us to help 1 in 3 of our families!

But that’s not all -- there’s more to come. Our new goal? To serve 500 more families within 5 years! And so I ask – do you have what it takes to help more families?

Yes, we have much to celebrate, and we couldn’t have done it without you. But also, with much anticipation, we look forward to what’s to come.
