How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

- Consider the brand identity of your products

The brand identity of the product is shown through the repeated use of the chosen font angry nerds and the background, which we have used on both the Digipak and the advert. Brand identity is also contributed through the repeated use of our logo on each of our products. We decided to change our logo as we found that our original logo did not fit our music project and did not look as professional as we wished for, so we came to the decision to adapt and redesign it to fit both our products and our video. We also took our target audience into consideration by including elements that are commonly found in the rock genre such as the band posing with instruments, bold jagged fonts and grunge-y backgrounds. We also tried to give the band quite a casual, roughed up look and had them dress in dark clothes, which are also common within the rock genre and its audience.

When creating our Digipak, we decided to include images that fit our genre and so used somewhat shadowy images on a grunge-style background. We decided to use the same background throughout in order to keep our Digipak consistent, though we changed the colour in each frame so that each band member would have his or her own unique colour. We used bright colours such as pink, orange and blue in order to add a sense of fun to our Digipak, fitting in with the theme of our video. We also used the same background in the advert for consistency reasons and also used the same font in order to give our products a running theme.

- Discuss how your ancillary texts reflect the themes/narrative of your video

The poses of the band within the chosen photographs all tie in with the rock genre and the fun theme of our video. We also included the bands instruments within the photos as they are constantly shown throughout our video and are a common occurrence within the rock genre. We tried to give our products both a fun and serious theme, which also mirrors our video, as it includes some fun scenes and some serious ones (such as the band performing).
