• Metal brings up many connotations when it comes to talking about fans of the genre. Mostly associated with black clothing, long hair, beards and tattoos, they are a very specific group that are often portrayed in a negative fashion.

• My cover star is set up deliberately to try and change this negative perception, the predominant colour is red, not black, and he is not in a particularly threatening pose or looking intimidating. It’s a light hearted take on the genre, showing that the band can still be a great metal group but not necessarily conform to the standards of others.

• Since my target audience for the magazine is 16-30 year olds, the cover star fits into this age bracket himself, helping to be more relatable for the reader.
