COMPARISON

We created a MASTHEAD which stood out and when on

a shelf would be EASILY NOTICED. The masthead is in the TOP THIRD of the page to

again make is noticeable.

Other stories are used on the cover, these are used to HINT at the reader what else FEATURES in the magazine. They are ANCHORED by the name of their soap, and a short slogan to GRIP

the reader.

Page 9: Evaluation - Question 2

Our cover star gives EYE CONTACT to the reader, just like the example from an

already existing product. The eye contact helps to ENGAGE the reader and to show clear EMOTION which helps to INTRIGUE the reader and want them to read more

about the soap.

The cover star is ANCHOREDby a SLOGAN which gives abrief idea of the story line.

These are joined by a SUBHEADING to give extra

information on the story line.

The magazine includes the DATE, PRICE andWEBSITE. To add to these, we added #TVBUZZ

which is a TWITTER reference, to the front cover of our magazine. We did this to help reach out toa YOUNGER audience, giving them another wayto keep UPDATED with our magazine and also sothey can SOCIALISE with other people interested

in the magazine.

The billboard shows the charactersdisplaying their own EMOTION by

using FACIAL EXPRESSION. By doing this, the reader can create

an UNDERSTANDING of each characterand create and IMPRESSION of their

PERSONALITY.

The purple tape helps to create BRAND IDENTITY, we chose to use E4 as it broadcast programmes aimed at a similar AUDIENCE to our soap.

REPRESENTING AGE

The characters are all of a SIMILAR AGE, this can be shown by FASHION: basic trends, accessories etc.

Rhino, with his TATTOO and STERN look, gives the ‘HARD MAN’ impression.

Also his Ralph Lauren shirt shows that he is up to date

with FASHION and takes care in his APPEARANCE.

The FEATHER BOA gives the audience a hint of the characters PERSONALITY. It creates HUMOUR and INTRIGUES the audience.
