Online Media? An option of distribution for our thriller movie could potentially be over online

media websites such as YouTube, Facebook or Twitter. This is option is realistic as we haven't got the budget nor the facilities to go and

offer multiplexes. All of these media websites enable free publication of the film and has a growing audience everyday – most of which are teenagers, who are in fact our target audience.

Our film is innovative and doesn’t conform excessively to the conventions of a thriller film as it is based in a densely populated area (whereas they are usually populated somewhere isolated) there isn’t a male antagonist, and there are surprising antagonists; however it has still held onto the possible conventions through its use of streetlamps and other mise-en-scene attributes and its shots that have taken places in environments such as a graveyard. This means that we could potentially get funding to complete our film from societies such as Working Title Films or Warp Films and it could then become a feature film which could then thus lead to cinema outlets such as an art house.

Lionsgate? As a group we also had the idea that perhaps

that Lionsgate could both produce and distribute our film, because they produce a lot of horror and thriller films – which were both the genre’s we had merged together.

We also have previously enjoyed movies created by them and the films that have been produced by Lions gate have also been well known and earned a very large profit, which means that we would also get a profit – something we wouldn't necessarily obtain from the online media options.

The movies that they are well known for creating include; the horror Cube series, the horror/thriller Saw series, various Marvel films including Hulk, Doctor Strange, and Kickass, and finally the horror Hostel series.

Our DecisionThese reasons made us choose Lionsgate over other companies. Because they have

made a lot of movies that have been turned into sequels it means that they must have a lot of success with these genres or else they wouldn’t still be in production. For example, the Saw franchise has been global and they have produced six movies so far, proving that they are an excellent production/distribution company. Their well-known reputation will also attract a huge audience for our thriller movie.

We hope we would potentially obtain successes like Saw and converge our thriller movie into other products such as T-shirts, that will promote the movie and also bring in more income from its release. They will be released before the movies release and we will carry on the sale after the films release. The advertisement we achieve from this will hopefully attract a wider audience.

We won’t ignore the other option of social media though, we will still use them to make pages for our movie to create an even larger awareness, such as on Facebook and Twitter – we can make accounts and on YouTube we can release our trailer on there.

Our Decision (continued)

Also Lionsgate have better technology than we do, therefore htey will be able to use things such as 3D and have the access to ensure a service that meant that people could pay a certain amount and then download the full movie to watch like on the iStore, SkyGo, Netflix or Amazon Prime Instant.
