Target Audience

Page 2: Evaluation 4 and 5

The target audience for our film would be young adults aged between 18-25 mainly because the actors and actresses starring in the film are of that age it gives the audience something to relate to and have a more close relationship with the characters and the problems they face and overcome. The audience would be into genres of horror and thriller type films and watch programmes such as CSI, Fringe, The Mentalist and maybe even the average soap coronation street for example containing many thriller esq. scenes along with the right balance of general goings on of things considered to be the norm, making the stories more realistic and life like something which we think we captured in our thriller film.

The film The Roommate is similar to our production in many ways; the aspect of the thriller genre is similar as the film is about a girl who is secretly obsessed about her roommate/friend and later is found guilty of killing her own roommate. This psychological thriller plays with the audiences’ mind at the beginning of the film making us wonder what's about to happen and who the killer is going to be as does our film production. The roommate used many promotional techniques similar to ours targeting a young audience as the audience see it easier to relate to characters of their own age as this can help the audience get a feel for the characters emotions and feelings making it overall and enjoyable watch. The way in which they target their audience is through advertisements in between programmes such as CSI to attract their audience demographic, they will also advertise with posters around local cinemas, colleges and universities again to attract their young target audience powerful techniques targeting the appropriate consumers in order to attract the right fan base.

• Our Film marketing techniques

• Having looked at film marketing techniques as a whole i have researched into ways in which our group could market our film. http://http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_promotion

• Because our film is made on a low budget, the marketing for our film is limited in comparison to big budget ‘Hollywood' productions, a way in which we could market our film is through the use of :-

• websites :Having a website/blog with links to a trailer, behind the scenes directors commentory, images and use of an online forum letting viewers immerse themselves into the roles of the actors.

• Internet:

• With the help of social networking sites and internet filming distribution websites allowing the latest 'leaks' to view trailers and previews of the films simultaneously creating a fan base before the film actually comes out onto our screens. In comparison to big budget films having trailers programmed onto our tvscreens on a daily basis.

• Film posters:

• Our group would also use posters as a marketing technique displaying them around bus stops and in the areas surrounding colleges and schools in order to attract the attention of our target audience. However being on such a low budget the amount of posters used would be minimal so the placement in significant places such a colleges and universities would be key to our films coverage and exposure.
