Boggi s.r.l. is a privately owned Company started in 1999. The Company is composed by professionals with work experiences in maintenance, design and certification domain, with a strong background in the, airship, helicopter and general aviation fields.

Approvals Since November 04, 2011 we are DOA approved under the number 21.J.453. This approval covers, the privileges to certify structural, avionic, electrical, mission equipment and cabin interiors installations.

We provide solutions and proposals to our customers, starting from their needs, specifications, and certification basis requirements, up to the approval of the change/product under E.A.S.A. rules

Who we are

Page 4: ETF Project

Many civil and commercial applications have already been successfully demonstrated by various UASs for missions such as homeland security, disaster/emergency monitoring, fire survey/control, emergency communications relay, border/coastal/maritime security, law enforcement and others. LTA UASs provide significant advantages with respect to fixed and rotary wing platforms in accomplishing these missions. LTA UASs unique capabilities Operational effectiveness: long endurance, including hovering Ecological compatibility: low or zero emissions, including noise Low cost: strong reduction of acquisition, operation and logistic support cost

Certification

Why LTA

One of the most significant issue concerning the UASs is the airworthiness certification for civilian use. The LTA UASs are expected to achieve the airworthiness certification well in advance with respect to the fixed and rotary wing UASs.

Page 5: ETF Project

Why LTA Interest is growing in using Lighter Than Air (LTA) platforms, such as aerostats and airships, for military applications. LTA vehicles can offer enhanced, lower cost capability for persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Communications Relay and Electronic Warfare.

Threat has changed (from high technology aircraft/missiles to terrorists) • Need to extend the horizon

• Need persistence

Acquisition, operation and logistic support cost low relative to other aerial platforms

With station keeping, LTA provides increased operational effectiveness, ensuring persistent presence with increased line of sight

Low signatures: acoustic, IR, RF LTA envelopes are highly survivable

Why ETF

The existing conventional airships show strong operational limitations, mainly due to the poor efficiency of the conventional control system, even for standard manouvers and light gusts.

Operational limitations of conventional airships

Strong sensitivity to lateral wind Limited maneuverability and flight envelope Extremely poor efficiency in hovering and

at low speed Poor capability of operating in adverse

environmental conditions Wide ground surface required for take off

and landing Many ground crew members required

New solutions are needed

The ETF innovative LTA platforms have been designed to provide operational capabilities which overcome some important limitations of the existing conventional air vehicles.

• Capability of operating in bad weather conditions: tenths of knots wind, low intensity rain

• Low height operations possible

• Low or zero ecological impact: helium, electrical motors, fuel cells

• Very low energy consumption: from 1/10 to 1/50 with respect to conventional solutions

• Long edurance, including hovering: days, weeks, months

• Strong reduction of operation and logistic support cost for ground infrastructures and operators training
