description

One attains Akram Gnan (Self-realization of the step-less path of liberation) with the grace of the Gnani Purush. However, one's prior karma accounts remain to be settled. That is why it is extremely important to remain in touch with a Ganni Purush to understand what one has really attained in this direct path which is scientific. In this path, the wrong belief 'I am Chandulal', leaves and is replaced with the right belief 'I am Shuddhatma (pure Self)'. This state of Shuddhatma-the Self is the state of total fearlessness. After attaining this Gnan-the knowledge of the Self, mahatmas need to know how to remain the Self with the five Agnas (Dadashri's five cardinal sentences that sustain the liberated state in Akram Vignan) in all worldly the situations. By applying the Agnas, one becomes aware of the source and cause of fear, where and how it arises, to whom it is happening, and how one can remain unaffected and separate from the one who is experiencing fear. Thus one remains fearless.

EDITORIALOne attains Akram Gnan (Self-realization of the step-less path of liberation) with the

grace of the Gnani Purush. However, one's prior karma accounts remain to be settled. Thatis why it is extremely important to remain in touch with a Ganni Purush to understand whatone has really attained in this direct path which is scientific. In this path, the wrong belief 'Iam Chandulal', leaves and is replaced with the right belief 'I am Shuddhatma (pure Self)'. Thisstate of Shuddhatma-the Self is the state of total fearlessness. After attaining this Gnan-theknowledge of the Self, mahatmas need to know how to remain the Self with the five Agnas(Dadashri's five cardinal sentences that sustain the liberated state in Akram Vignan) in allworldly the situations which may provoke fear. By applying the Agnas, one becomes awareof the source and cause of fear, where and how it arises, to whom it is happening, and howone can remain unaffected and separate from the one who is experiencing fear. Thus oneremains fearless.

One-the newly initiated recipient of Gnan-should not be affected by fear of any kind, because it is happening to 'Chandubhai' (the relative self, the reader should substitute his ownname here). Why should there be any fear to the Self-Atma? The Self can never be robbedor hurt. Where can there be any fear to the One, whom no force in the universe can touchor hurt? The fear of getting robbed happens to Chandubhai, the one who has the pocket thatcarries the money. Are You the owner of the pocket? When one applies the understandingfrom the real perspective, 'I am pure Soul' one remains fearless. As long as the belief 'I amChandubhai' remains, fear also remains. With, 'I am Shuddhatma' fear vanishes. Whatever feararises in Chandubhai is vyavasthit-scientific circumstantial evidence and that is precise and just.

When you feel fear and the right vision-awakened awareness, 'I am Shuddhatma'-doesnot prevail, Dada-the Gnani Purush is with you, is He not? Even with this understanding, knowthat nothing can happen to You. There is no power in this universe that can hurt You. The onewho is going to be hurt and affected, is not You, and if it happens, so be it. You remainunaffected. The effect that happens is to the relative self-Chandubhai, and You the Self areindeed separate and unaffected. With this understanding and applied awareness there remainsno effect or suffering.

Sometimes one feels fear when a strange sudden noise occurs, but in fact that is not true

fear, it is irrational fear. One has filled the stock of fear in the relative self (from past life). Theirrational fear happens as a reflex reaction-sangi chetna. You-Shuddhatma-pure Soul in AkramPath-would not have any fear. You would be aware of the false nature of this fear.

If a policeman comes he will arrest Chandubhai, he does not know Shuddhatma, howcan he arrest You-Shuddhatma? Even if they hang you, it is the pudgal (integrating anddisintegrating of the non-Self matter) that is being strangulated. The one who gets strangled isa pudgal, and an executioner too is pudgal-non-Self complex. Atma (the Self) has never beenstrangulated, that is who You are. Thus in every way worldly life affects 'Chandubhai', and theSelf is so exquisitely separate that it remains absolutely unaffected-nirleyp and separate-asangby anything that happens to Chandubhai-the non-Self complex with a worldly name. With thisawakened awareness-Gnan fear vanishes.

Thus in Akram Gnan, Gnani Purush Dadashri explains many different kinds of divinekeys. These are being compiled in this Dadavani, and the applied understanding of these keyswill make the reader remain fearless in worldly life.

Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

All kinds of fear leaves after meeting aGnani

Questioner : Dada, how can onedissolve the tuber—the inner state—of fear?

Dadashri : All fears leave after Self-realization.

Questioner : Fear may still remain inthe imagination, no?

Dadashri : No. The fears, which usedto terrify you, are gone after Gnan—Self-realization.

Questioner : But how can one becomeso absolutely fearless?

Dadashri : Fearless? For that one hasto live with a Gnani Purush at least two to fourmonths. Once a person lives in the vicinity andnearness of the Gnani Purush all fear leaves.

Fear is not a thing it is only a misunderstanding.By staying with a Gnani one can find out one’sown mistakes whereas when one stays awayfrom the Gnani, one will get trapped in puzzles.

Questioner : Whatever this filled stockis (charged karma from past life), when thiscomes out…..

Dadashri : Nothing new is being filled—no new karma is being charged so all willcome to an end. Our path is such thateverything will continue to leave. One by oneit will continue to leave.

I have given this absolute state offearlessness. This path is beautiful and it is anindependent and free path. I have given youthis vyavasthit—the knowledge of the forcethat runs this universe—to be rid of so manyfears. How many fears have been removed!

Page 4: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 3

DADAVANI

There is no reason to harbor any fear.

Questioner : You gave vyavasthit toget rid of so many fears, but vyavasthit is givento remove all the fears, isn’t it?

Dadashri : Yes. The fears begin to leaveas much one begins to understand (darshan—vision of awakened awareness) vyavasthit andwhen this understanding becomes complete onebecomes fully enlightened—keval Gnani.

Questioner : Yes. That means if oneunderstands vyavasthit completely, all kinds offear would leave, no?

Dadashri : All kinds of fear must leave. One should know vyavasthit as it is, then allthe fears would leave. You have discoveredthis much at least. Now you will start to knowmore by sitting next to me. You can find outmuch more if you get the opportunity to staywith me for fifteen days. It is possible to stayfifteen days with me if you are willing. You canget the opportunity to sit together, eat together, drink together, sleep together and talk withme in one home.

A Gnani would be fearless

One will accomplish his work when thefinal fear leaves. People cannot get rid of fear. There is no way by which fear will leave.Always stressed, fear will also stay persistently.

Say for instance, if you need to gosomewhere, and someone says, ‘there is apossibility that a robber will mug you on theway.’ Now, there is no choice because youhave to take that road. So then how will youfeel inside? You will feel stressed once youhear about this. Where in the world did thisstress come from? This is our world, we arethe owners and why do we have to struggleand feel so stressed? The reason is that one

wants to control the world and territory ofothers. Otherwise would there be any stressor conflict? Many thieves and robbers maycome on the way; that is their business. Whydo you need to worry? Is it not their business? It is a business and if you are good customerthen he will give you his product (rob you);otherwise he may not give you the product. He will say, ‘what the heck, why should I givethis guy anything? It’s a waste.’

One should not harbor any kind of fear. You have not achieved anything as long asfear exists. Now, after Self-realization if anyfear does arise then you should apply thisknowledge and the fear will disappear. Whereis the fear to the Self—pure Soul? The Self isnot a thing that one can steal or rob. No onecan shoot the Self. No one can do anything tothe Self. How can there be any fear to theSelf? Then the awareness arises which says,‘Chandubhai—the owner of the pocketful ofmoney has the fear of being robbed.’ Andyou have become the owner, is that not so?And you think that if you worry or keep tensionthen he (pickpocket) will not rob you, is thatright? Mooah (special exclamation used byDadashri to shake up the listener, literalmeaning-mortal one), he will rob you first byseeing tension on your head. He will beat youup as an extra item too.

Fear leaves once the ignorance leaves

One may not get scared by four outlaws, but when he trembles upon hearing the angrynoises of a gang of fifteen to twenty robbersthen it is all over, and done, no? The one whodid not get scared by four will subsequentlynot be scared by forty and the one who doesnot get scared by forty then he will not beaffected by four thousand, and the one whodoes not get scared by four thousand will not

Page 5: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

DADAVANI

be scared by four lakhs—hundred thousandand finally this one will not have any fear fromforty million and this then will come to an end. There are no more then four billion people. The one, who did not get scared by anybody, will attain total fearlessness. The one who isfearless, to him mooah! What is the accountof four? What is the value of such four lakhsor even four billion? That is the only thing thatDada is trying to say, ‘brother, all the fearwould leave as soon as the fear arising fromignorance is gone.’ The fear arises fromignorance. There is no other fear at all. Whydo you need to afraid of people? These poorfellows are tops only, they are spinning ontheir own. Some might get hurt too, at sometime. But it is not under their control. The fearexists until the belief ‘I am Chandubhai’ exists.‘I am Shuddhatma (pure Soul)’ then you arefearless. You (the Self) are Shuddhatma andthe remaining part (Chandubhai) is a neighbor. So when someone comes to fight with theneighbor it is justice.

No one can shake a strong one

If we remain still and unmoved then thereis no power that can hurt us in this world.Once You move a little, then all other powerswill eat you up. You do not need to move aniota. If you feel fear within then say that, ‘Dadais my protector, nothing is going to happen tome’ and remain that way. If You (the Self)remain unmoved, then no force in this universecan touch you. What does the power—shaktiobserve? Did he move or not? It looks for thetrace movement of the weakness only. Thereis no need to move an iota. If You move thenChandulal is done for. If You remain unmovedthen what can happen?

Questioner : Then nothing will happen.

Dadashri : Circumstances of fear aredefinitely all around and that is the nature ofthe relative worldly life (sansar). It is in thenature of worldly life to shake-upset a humanbeing here and there. Let the mover (the non-Self) move. You must remain in your place. It is possible to maintain such steadiness, isit not ?

Questioner : Yes.

Dadashri : You do not feel fear of anykind, do you? All these people here are freefrom fear, and is that not a wonder? They arefearless because they have become still andsteady.

Questioner : We should employ somepolicemen to periodically come and test thesemahatmas.

Dadashri : Some of our mahatmas havebeen tested. They are ready now. They willnot be afraid of any thing. They have beenmade ready by having faced constantchallenges that push and thrust.

Questioner : You kept them testing,no?

Dadashri : Yes. So I am convincedthat these people are ready. Whatever youdo, they have become prepared like a personwho is ready to face death.

What if someone comes to arrest youwith handcuffs and inquires, ‘Is Chandubhaithere?’

Questioner : Then I will say, ‘take me’.

Dadashri : Is that right? You will notwonder what the world will think about you,no? I had told the police sub-inspector, ‘noproblem, you should have brought a rope withyou. Otherwise people would say that

Page 6: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 5

DADAVANI

Ambalalbhai is such a person, so these poorpeople can be happy, no!’ So then police sub-inspector got scared. So be ready for all kindof situations. Any circumstance can arise. It isvyavasthit, isn’t it? Nothing is beyondvyavasthit, no? Now one must settle withequanimity, no? So what can we say to him(to a police sub-inspector) as he shows upwith a warrant? Has he come to arrest on hisown? No, he is also following someone’s order.

Questioner : It is not in his hand also.

Dadashri : He is also following theorder and it is not even under the control ofthe boss who has given the order. Everythingis happening on the basis of our karma.

Questioner : In this situation, thereshould not be any effect on single parmanoo(subatomic particle) within.

Dadashri : Not even single parmanooshould react. That should be only the thing. The circumstances may be that the entire worldwould become wet with the sweat of fright inthe absence of summer heat. One will get sweatin the day of winter! I am making them strong. They all had stayed with me. I would strikethem from this way to this way. Why harborany fear at all?

Become fearless

All this is relative. To feel the effect ofthat which is relative is a sign of terribleweakness. Nothing that happens around youshould touch You.

When can one say that a person is vitarag(absolutely free from attachment andabhorrence)? When one does not feel fear ofany thing in this world one can say one isindeed a vitarag. What is the essence of beinga vitarag? Fearlessness!

This world is so regular and orderly thatno one can do anything, so don’t be afraid. And if the fear effect is to happen, there isnothing you can do to avoid it. I have seenthat the world is faultless, no one is at fault. Ihad seen that. Not a single living being is atfault in this world and it will always remain inmy vision. Whatever the fault is, it is the effectof only my karma.

There is not a single living being thatdestroy your planned design. All these designsare only yours. There is no interference ofanyone. The path may be filled with very roughrobbers, and yet you will be able to go throughit wearing jewelry worth hundreds of thousandsof rupees without being robbed. This is howthe world is. There is no reason to harbor anyfear whatsoever.

Make your life such that no one wouldfeel fear

Where one has become such that noone would be afraid of him then he does notneed to be afraid of anything in this world. Noone should be afraid of you. Whereas even asparrow will fly away before you reach there.Hey mooah, what kind of a person are youthat even a sparrow would fly away? Nextthing is one’s jitteriness and inner unsteadiness(chanchalta)- well instability is a different thing. But even a sparrow should trust you a bit oreven an animal should trust, should not they?At this time if hundred thousand snakes appearthen will see what a poisonous human beingthis one is, by looking at the eyes of a person? The snake knows for sure that the snake itselfis poisonous, but if he (a person) is poisonousthen it will say, ‘I will sting you.’ And if it doesnot notice anything then it will crawl awaywithout doing anything.

DADAVANI

Questioner : What can we say abouta person who scares others? What kind offruit (result) will he get?

Dadashri : We do not need to be afraidof him. One should not think about scaringothers. The life should be such that no oneshould feel fear from us. Make such a lifehere. What are you going to gain scaringsomeone for nothing?

Reflex startle reactions is not fear

Now we have achieved the state ofShuddhatma. Now where is the loss? There isnot any loss remained.

Questioner : I don’t see any loss. Butlittle bit fear does remain.

Dadashri : That is not fear. The onewho has not attained this Gnan (knowledge ofthe Self) will feel fear. The entire world iscaught in fear. After attaining this Gnan ourmahatmas do not feel fear but would havereflex reactions to fear. Fear exists due toignorance. Startle response reaction (bhadkaat)is the nature of the physical body.

Questioner : What is the meaning ofstartle reaction?

Dadashri : It is the nature of a physicalbody; it is like a toy that will move in responseto a key that is wound. It is not its intrinsicproperty. Similarly this startle reaction has beenwoven in the physical body. That is why evenif you do not want to do it happens. At thisplace if a sudden loud noise will make youreyes close even if you don’t want to, it is suchstartle reaction. After this Gnan startle reactionpersists and if ignorance (agnan) exists thenfear exists. Fear exists due to ignorance.

The fear that the world feels is the fear

of ignorance. Once the fear of ignorance isgone, only the reflex startle reactions remain.

At this time, if a sudden new kind ofnoise occurs even my body will move. Nowsomeone might say, ‘Dada has really trembled.’The fact is, ‘No, Dada is not such a personthat he would care!’ But this startle reaction iscalled a sangi chetna - reflex reaction. It hasresulted with the association of the chargedlife principle (chetan bhaav).

The fear exists because of the ignoranceof the Self, and startle reaction exists as aresult of reflex reaction (sangi chetna).Startling- trembling is the property of reflexreaction (body associated reaction). Sangichetna means aropit chetna (feeling of existenceat false location). While doing vidhi ormeditating, a sudden loud noise willautomatically startle and shake the physicalbody that is called reflex reaction (sangichetna).

The knower of the defect is the Self

Questioner : Dada, my biggest defectis that…..

Dadashri : You do have defect, youdo know that, don’t you? Then you are theSelf. Where is Your (the Self) defect? Thedefect is of this pudgal (non-Self complex); ithas been charged from the past life, what doYou have to lose in this? Dada (the Lord within)is over your head and this non-Self is defectivethen Dada will let go of it, but why should youtake it on your head? You had to take aresponsibility as long as you were Chandulal. Now you are not Chandubhai then why doYou need to take load of Chandubhai? Theneighbor has to follow the rules. If he(Chandubhai) cries then do You have to start

Page 8: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

DADAVANI

crying? If You know that Chandubhai is likethis, that is Gnan.

Mooah, you are the Self and this is apudgal (non-Self). If you get startled then itwill take control over you. The entire worldmay get shaken up. If the body gets a fever orbecomes paralyzed or is under the fire, Youare unaffected. It is a loss to the pudgal, Youwill never incur a loss. The loss is in the foreigndepartment, not in the home department. Thebusiness of these departments is entirelyseparate. Would the owner and the shop beseparate or one?

Questioner : Separate.

Dadashri : When the shop is burningone thinks that he got burnt. Hey, is that youthat are burning? The shop is burning. Let’sgo and have a cup of tea. Nonetheless, onegoes around crying as if he is burning.

Questioner : When such circumstancesarise, artadhyana (preoccupation with worriesabout one’s self) - raudradhyana (adversemeditation that hurts others) do occur for sure. After that I do pratikraman (true innerremorseful confession and a determination notto repeat the aggression) too.

Dadashri : That is not artadhyana-raudradhyana. That artadhyana-raudradhyanais not happening to You. You are the Self. Ithappens to Chandulal (the non-Self). If it istoo burdensome for Chandulal, then You shouldtell Chandubhai, ‘brother, take it easy.’ Andwhen the file no. 1, Chandubhai is talking toanother person, You should ‘know’ that tooand he will also ‘know’, that whatcommunication has transpired. You are theknower (gnata), perceiver (drashta) and ineternal bliss (parmanandi). The Self remainsas the Self (swabhav).

If Chandulal exercises wisdom thenobserve his wisdom, ‘Oh ho ho! Whatwisdom!’ If he becomes angry and upset thensee the madness and anger. If he has gonetemporarily berserk, see his madness. Whatelse is going to happen other then this? Hadyou ever become emotional in your childhood?

Questioner : I had. It still happens. But it has decreased after taking this Gnan.

Dadashri : Yes. But after taking GnanYou don’t have any responsibility over yourhead, do You? After all it is Chandubhai’sresponsibility, isn’t it? So You are separate,Chandubhai is separate. Chandubhai becomesemotional; You are not becoming emotional, are You?

Questioner : No. Sometimes the Selfbecomes one with the non-Self again, andsometime the Self and the non-Self remainseparate.

Dadashri : It is different thing that theSelf and the non-Self become one. But theSelf and the non-Self have been separated. Aday will come when it will remain absolutelyseparate. At this time the other rooms havenot been vacated properly, no? That is whyright now You have to come together. TheSelf and the non-Self will remain separate asthe rooms begin to become empty. This isbecause of the separation that has happened.

Doer ship will invite ghosts of the non-Self complex

Fears arising in the non-Self (pudgal)are the ghosts of the non-Self. We do notneed to afraid of them. These are called non-Self complex ghosts. ‘You’ should tell‘Chandubhai’, ‘be a kshatriya (member ofwarrior class), your behaving like a Vanik

DADAVANI

(merchant) will not work. Let all the othermiseries arrive. Let the legs hurt, let the headhurt. That is all pudgal, the non-Self and Youare the Self and You are separate!

These are all ghosts. If You show fearthen they will possess You. If they screamwithin, ‘what if they hang you?’ then Youshould say, ‘Yes, it is correct.’ No one canhang the Self. Nothing can affect the Self. Allthis is the play of the pudgal only. The hangingplace is pudgal and the executioner is alsopudgal. The Self has never been hanged before. One feels fear and suffocation because it doesnot fit in the vision (drashti). When one attainsthe vision of the Gnani then all is done. Oneneeds to stay in touch with the Gnani toaccomplish this.

The light of the Self is eternallyuncovered and bright

Questioner : The prakruti—the non-Self complex of thoughts speech and actions,is such that some are very elated and someothers are very depressed.

Dadashri : All the prakrutis need to be‘seen’ only. The headlight of a car gets taintedwith the mud of the dirty creek, the stench ofthe water of the dirty creek, and yet nothingtouches the light, which passes through themud which covers it. We need not harbor anyfear that the light (Self knowledge) will becometainted with mud, stench or water. If this lightis like this, just imagine how brilliant andunaffected the light of the Self would be! Thelight of the Self is like this only. It illuminateseverything.

The knowledge of separation and theprior rehearsal

This Gnan verily will liberate one. But

You should help him—the non-Self with keenawareness—jagruti, and then proceed withpurushaarth—Self oriented inner endeavor. Thereal purushaarth begins after one becomes aPurush (the Self), and separate from the non-Self, the prakruti. The prakruti used to makeyou dance as long as you were Chandulal.Purush and prakruti have become separate.Purushaarth arises after becoming Purush.Awareness lies in purushaarth. What else isincluded in purushaarth? One should make theresolution. With steadiness one needs to talkwith the non-Self.

Questioner : Does it mean that weshould not insist upon what is wrong or whatis right?

Dadashri : There is nothing wrong orright. One must not insist on this at all. Butwhat will happen if we are served what wehave never ever tasted before, for instance, ifsomeone blames you saying, ‘You stolesomething.’ So now you have never heard suchan insult before, you are not used to it, andtherefore what will happen? The non-Self willbecome emotional. That is why You shouldsay to Chandubhai, ‘brother, you are a thiefonly. Don’t worry if someone blames you beinga thief.’ We need to let him know such thingfrom the beginning. Yes, ‘If someone blamesyou then don’t worry. If someone slaps youthen also don’t worry.’ We should let him knowsuch things in advance. Otherwise instead of aslap if someone jabs you in a mild manner, you will be affected. Hence, a prior practiceis beneficial. A prior rehearsal is helpful, wouldit not help? Otherwise, this Gnan is keepingso many people in uninterrupted bliss—samadhi.

The Self and the non-Self

Thus Chandubhai’s work is done by

Page 10: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

DADAVANI

vyavasthit shakti (scientific circumstantialevidence). You just need to keep watchingwhat Chandubhai is doing and what he is not?You do not need to meddle with the mind, buddhi (intellect), chit (knowledge + vision)and ahamkar (ego). You need to keep watchingwhat the intellect is doing. You need to keep‘seeing’ the intellect and what it is doing, rightor wrong without interfering. The only time tointerfere is when Chandubhai gets in to lots ofworldly difficulties and at such time you shouldsay, ‘I am verily pure Soul, I am with you.’then it will be all right. Relative life situationsmay arise, like when the leg or the hand ishurting, at that time you should say, ‘Let ithappen, I am here, no? so you need notworry.’ Otherwise when the body is havingdifficulties, say, ‘not mine’, and it will remainseparate. This is because a line of demarcationhas been made, which separates the Self andthe non-Self. Thus one needs to understandall this as a regular course of study. You willnot forget whatever I am saying, will you?

The stock that was filled in past life willget exhausted

Questioner : Before I met Dada therewas ice like nikaachit karma (unalterable- solidand strong). Now can this decrease by doingsamayik (past faults or sins can be washed offby focusing awareness of the Self on a specifictopic such as anger, greed and pride etc; innerprocess of dissolving the inner tubers ofnegative passions)?

Dadashri : They will decrease.

Questioner : But they will not bewashed off completely, right?

Dadashri : No, they will show up, scareyou and then leave, they will scare you too.Or else the bag will empty by it self. Once the

container is empty and if you will try to lookfor them, you will not find them. Haven’t they(karma) started to decrease? They will godown, just like the filled tank which starts todrain.

Can’t speak, ‘now there is no objection’!

Some people have good externalconduct but within there is much evil and bad.And our mahatmas (the one who has attainedSelf-realization) may have bad external conductbut how wise are they within!

Questioner : That is a matter ofprinciple but many times what happens withus is that it is Dada’s speech and guarantee, and we grab hold of it, insisting that the conductis not important and it is more important tofocus on the intent within.

Dadashri : One holds on to this, that isit. You don’t need to hang on to that. You doneed to understand if such thing happens thenyou should not harbor fear. But if you hold onto it, then weakness will remain.

Questioner : We do hang on to it andsit down with that as our defense.

Dadashri : No, you cannot hide undersuch protection. It is as if you would havemade a firm decision not to fall off into a well,no? Say for instance there are hundred to twohundred wells up here and if you have to walkthrough the road back and forth, in that caseyou just do not fall in the dark, because it isyour decision that whatever happens you donot want to fall in this well, then you will notfall. But if you try to protect the well and goin that direction, then you will fall. At least itshould be your decision, no? Why I am tellingyou this? Not to save you but I am telling youto make you fearless. Your external conducts

Page 11: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

10 November 2006

DADAVANI

are like this, are wrong, don’t worry. You donot need to keep protecting the meaning ofthe statement. You should just keep in yourmind that this error in the external visibleconduct must not happen, that’s it. Then it isdone. Then we let go of it. What we callvyavasthit is that, ‘brother, drive your car withyour eyes open, and drive carefully and afterthat if a wreck happens then it is vyavasthit.’If you are at fault, there is no problem. Thatis vyavasthit, but this much care should beexercised.

Questioner : Dada, you are saying justto make me fearless but along with this mypresent behavior is unfolding in such a mannerthat I am filled with remorse that what kind ofstock I have filled in my past life?

Dadashri : The remorse of why onefilled such a stock in the past life should arise. This type of weariness arises in all as theyendure the suffering in this life. Alas, what canone do? There is not any other solution at all,is there?

That is why you should not say, afterthis Gnan that nothing is going to happen tome, from here on. Such a statement isirresponsible, even though it has been given toyou with the full knowledge that it is so.

Questioner : But Dada, I have attainedthis Gnan, and now if I say that there is noobjection for me to continue my work as alawyer, is that all right?

Dadashri : No, you cannot say suchthing. Continue your profession as a lawyer,as long as you want to, but this, ‘there is noobjection’ you uttered is what breaks the law.Do not create any risk for yourself. To createthe risk is like removing the fishplate betweenthe two rails, it will derail the train. That is

why ‘we’ (the Gnani Purush and the fullyenlightened Lord within) have said, ‘Do notspeak negligently that nothing is going toimpede me.’

Questioner : You have shown such astraight and easy path, but after this if we willnot keep constant awareness and abide byfive Agnas then the Gnan which Dada hasgiven will transform in to a weapon, hurtingothers, will it not?

Dadashri : Then one can lose. It willnot be wasted completely, many births will bereduced. But if these five Agnas are lost thenyour expected goal will be delayed. This currentera of the time cycle is one of kusang (companyof non-spiritual people). Everywhere you seeis kusang, kusang, kusang, it exists at home,at office and in business. Satsangs which aregoing on outside is also kusang. If you walkaway from here to another place then that iskusang for you. Now at this time if these fiveAgnas do not exist then that kusang candestroy—take you away in worldly life—you. Therefore if you follow five Agnas then kusangwill not touch you. Or else, stay put here, ifyou do not want to follow the five Agnas thenstay along with me, then also kusang will nottouch you. Nonetheless, the positive innerbhaav—intent begins the moment one takesthis Gnan.

Questioner : It does happen, it iscorrect Dada. You said that once you becamepositive, circumstances will come together.

Dadashri : Negativity in a personthrows him in the puzzle. Therefore remainpositive only. A person cannot accomplish anykind of religion in this world as long as fearexists within him. By saying, ‘there is no fatherboss up there for you’, I remove your fear

Page 12: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

DADAVANI

and panic from all around. And any additionalfear that happens is also removed, but if youtake it in the negative sense, then it will leadto difficulties. That kind of liberty is not given.

Questioner : Dada, let us ask you, which are the danger zones in our spiritualprogress. It is better to ask you now so thereis no problem later on as we want to avoidpicking up your statements and use it withoutany support and foundation.

Dadashri : By picking up support lessstatement you can get in to a lot of trouble. Ifyou ask me then there is no problem and nowthe only risk is to speak a statement like‘nothing is going to affect me.’ ‘We’ have saidthat, ‘sex is not poison, but fearlessness in sexis poison.’ And he says, ‘nothing can happento me now, because I am with Dada.’Fearlessness is the only poison. One can beruined with such carelessness. That is not theplace at all. You are neither in the Self nor inthe ‘file’, such carelessness? ‘No one can touchme’ where did this come from?

Questioner : That is right he is neitherin the Self, nor in the file.

Dadashri : He does not exist in any ofthese two places and where did this new thingcome from? So it is risky, that is why we aresaying that, ‘brother, we are telling you, to getrid of the fear, that sex is not poison, butfearlessness in sex is poison.’

I have said all that after looking in theGnan that the risk is not in the behavior.Otherwise who will agree to take this manyresponsibilities? It is a big responsibility. Andthat is why you can become free from fearand the need to do so much. Become freefrom fear and whatever doubts and suspicionsyou had will go away. This will happen or that

will happen etc, mooah, nothing is going tohappen. Nothing is going to happen to you, itis just you (the relative) and I.

Shuddhatma is for the purpose ofremaining in the shuddha

Questioner : It is true that there is noduality when we say we are Shuddhatma (pureSoul), but then why do we have to use theword shuddha (pure)?

Dadashri : Yes, it is very necessary, itis a very scientific word, and that is whyemploy and use, and speak ‘shuddha’. Whynot just the word ‘Atma’ (Soul) alone? Whydid we not use another word? This is because;the Gnani Purush has given the state ofShuddhatma to you. And after that if any workdone by Chandubhai (non-Self) happens tobe so unacceptable that entire world wouldcontempt and spurn you, You are not to let goof the ‘I am verily shuddha—pure.’ Then thereis no one who can hurt you. Do not move aniota from this position of faith—shraddha. Ifyou do, you lost it. Do not leave the purity. That karma will go away. Karma will leaveafter giving its fruit. Otherwise you will startthinking in the mind that, because of this baddeed, I am spoiled. Spoiled means gone. Therefore no matter how slanderous the worldbecomes, and the entire world may scorn andcontempt you, Your pure state of Shuddhatmaremains intact. Such is the Gnan ‘we’ havegiven you.

However, if someone believes in the mindthat, now nothing is going to happen to me, Iam safe; then he is hung, gone forever. Yes, itis important to have a healthy fear. One mustbe cautious. You should caution Chandubhaisaying, ‘Chandubhai, tread with caution. LordMahavir too had walked with caution.’ What

Page 13: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

12 November 2006

DADAVANI

should you say to a neighbor? Do not harborany fear, but beware and exercise caution.

Such resolution can make you free fromavarice

The gluttonous greed (lalach) woulddisappear once you made a resolution, ‘I donot want anything’. Otherwise this severe greedonly is the risk, no? Action is not the risk, avarice and gluttony is the risk. It is a differentthing when you say, ‘I do not want anything’,and then you take it. Excess gluttonous greedis rare amongst ‘us’ (Dadashri’s mahatmas).Such greed can drag you to hell and will notlet you digest the Gnan.

Questioner : Will this excess avaricepersist after this Gnan also?

Dadashri : It may persist in a rareindividual.

Questioner : How can one becomefree from these avarices—lalach?

Dadashri : If he resolves to be rid ofit, then it will leave. One should become freefrom the avarice, shouldn’t one? It is for one’sown benefit, isn’t it? After making decision, after one becomes free from it (avarice), onewill feel the bliss of the disentanglement. Onewould experience the easiness and peace ofmind. One may feel fearful of losing hishappiness, but after being free from thelalach—insatiable greed, he will experiencemore happiness.

Questioner : But one cannot get thatbenefit until the fear of losing the happinessleaves, no? As long as the fear exists, he wouldnot be inclined to leave the greed would he?

Dadashri : So the avarice will not leavebecause of fear. And he has fear, ‘This

happiness of mine will go away.’ Oh, let it goman, let go of it. Then only that bliss will arrive.

Know these creators of fearful intentsas separate

This is our Atma Gnan! It is not anordinary thing. This is such a wonderful thingyou have achieved! These (bhaav) feelings, which arise from the mind and from the intellect, are the ones, which create fear. You just haveto know once, that these are the ones thatcreate fear. The intellect will create interferenceas long as it is in operation.

Tuber of fear is in mind

The nature of the mind is to burst likefire-works. It is the stock, which is filled within. The stock was filled according to theknowledge of the past life. It will not agreewith the present life’s knowledge and thiscauses conflicts.

Questioner : What if it is the tuber ofpride?

Dadashri : If you have tubers of pridethen it will show you fear, fear and fear whenit erupts. It will show this and that. The onethat shows the fear is the worldly—relativeknowledge. All those tubers will erupt. Fromthese which tuber sprouts a lot more duringwhole day? That tuber is bigger.

Questioner : The mind will keep goingwhere it feels fear.

Dadashri : You (the Self) and the mindhave nothing to do with each other. No concernat all. If people are talking or bothering witheach other in the next room then how is thatyour concern? Similarly why do you need toworry about this mind, intellect, chit and egothat are jumping around in the next room—the

Page 14: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 13

DADAVANI

non-Self? You need to keep watching—seeingonly. You should not worry about that. Mindis not your cousin from seven generations thatyou need to have any concerns.

Familiarity with ignorance has been sucha long drawn affair that it will still crop up andarise after the Self has been realized. HoweverYou should say, ‘I am not going to pay attentionto any of your screams and hollers.’

Due to extreme congestion, theoutpouring force of thoughts from the mindwill be at a high rate and it is then when oneenjoys watching the hilarious nature of thedrama and scenery.

The mind may bring forth all differentkind of jumble and junk.

Questioner : Mind will bring all with it,but along with this it walks away stirring andupsetting the chit, intellect, ego and the physicalbody too, doesn’t it? There is no problem ifmind, minds its own business. But it stirs up allthe others within.

Dadashri : All this is only the empire ofone kind, isn’t it? The non-Self department isentirely foreign department. The ones (karma)that are being charged (in past life) will cometo discharge automatically. We do not haveany concern in that. After getting discharge itdoes not hurt you.

Thought is not the energy of the Self

Questioner : Sometime I think that thethought is the power of Soul?

Dadashri : No, it is the nature of mind. And mind is a physical thing. What else youwant to ask?

Questioner : If the Soul (Atma), doesnot have power to think, then the one who

guides us are the mind and intellect, so shouldwe be guided by them? How should wefollow? What should we do?

Dadashri : You should not follow theirguidance. You just need to keep observing. What is the mind thinking? If bad thoughtsarise then also one needs to observe them, and if good thoughts arise then also needs toobserve. Only needs to keep seeing them.Whatever comes in front of you are grosscircumstances. And whatever the mind dictates, bad thoughts or good thoughts or doing badchintvan (persistent focus and rumination onsomeone, usually visualized in chit) of someone, these are called subtle circumstances. You needto keep ‘seeing’ all these circumstances. Onlything You need to ‘do’ is to ‘see’ them all.You don’t need to do anything else. Thethought is not Your energy—power. This entireworld has arisen because of this delusion thatthis energy of the thought belongs to the Self. Then it (the mind) will say, ‘What will happenif the car collides on the way?’ Then youshould say, ‘What will happen? I will ‘see’that too.’ You are the observer only, aren’tYou? You are the knower and the seer. Whatelse will happen? Mind will scare you by suchthoughts like what will happen on the way?But You should say, ‘I will see at that time, whatever will happen, whatever will happen Iwill see and that is ‘vyavasthit’.’ Nothing isgoing to happen beyond vyavasthit. Thevyavasthit is arranged such that it will notbecome even the least avyavasthit (out ofvyavasthit).

Contradictory nature of the mind

Questioner : Lots of different kinds ofthoughts arise in the mind. Mind does notbecome absolutely zero (non-existent).Thoughts keep coming.

Page 15: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

14 November 2006

DADAVANI

Dadashri : Thoughts, it is such that itwill ‘speak’ something that you may not like.So then, will the ear remain without listeningover there? If You say to the ears, ‘Don’tlisten’ will it work then?’ It is the nature of theear to listen. The mind is simply giving theinformation; this is good, this is fearful, thisand that, this way mind performs its duty.Accept what you like and reject the rest. Themind is in its own nature.

Say for example, if I was coming herefrom Santa Cruz by cab, and there was anaccident on the way, then even ‘our’ mind willshow the pamphlet—advance directive, thatthere is a possibility of meeting with an accidentfurther ahead. Then ‘we’ would say, ‘brother,I noted the content and the warning, I willremain alert.’ A bit later, it will show anotherpamphlet, ‘there is not such thing that can causean accident.’ Then ‘we’ will say, ‘noted, withthanks.’ Then it will show another pamphlet. It (mind) does not have anything that it wantsto kill you. It is not the nature of mind thatwill stick on one thing only. Had you inquiredabout mind like this? Does it get stuck onone point only?

Questioner : It keeps wandering.

Dadashri : If You get stuck at one pointthen it will stay. Otherwise if You say that yourcontent is noted then it will show you anotherpamphlet. And if You say that no, you areright, now what will happen? Then it willcontinue for hours.

You can know different kinds of thoughtsthat arise in the mind. If mind shows a badthought, ‘what can happen if your mother-in-law dies today?’ Then you should say, ‘noted.’Then it will say, ‘what if you die?’ then youshould say, ‘I noted that too, now talk about

next third thing.’ Again it will show that too, ‘ifyou die tomorrow then who will take care ofall these?’ Then you should say, ‘I noted that.’

Oh, it will talk about getting married evenat this old age, this is how the mind is, thereis no telling when and what will it say. But whydo you need to get mad listening to this? Itwill tell you about becoming a widow, ‘whatwill you do if you become a widow?’ Thenyou should say, ‘brother, became widow nowlet’s move. Now tell me about the next thing.’Mind has become habituated to grumbling. Youshould not take it in to account at all. A madman is passing from behind, what are yousupposed to do with him? You need to knowjust as that.

Thoughts are coming by it self. You needto keep watching what kind of thoughts arise, that’s it nothing else. Mind does not haveanything like it wants to speak in a certainway only. If you become adamant then it willoppose you. That is why you should say,‘noted its contents.’ Yes, otherwise it will tellyou that, ‘you do not respect me.’ I will respectyou first. Then does the mind hurt you? No.

Questioner : But the one who informedyou that there is possibility of having anaccident, is that a mind saying this? Did themind speak that?

Dadashri : The mind spoke that andthen I will accept and tell it, that brother whatyou are saying is correct, then, it will talk aboutnext thing. Next it will talk about satsang. Themind does not think that you don’t like this. The mind will say as it sees. That is why allthese are circumstantial evidences. So we justneed to take note of it. If mind scares you andif you get scared then it is all over, isn’t it? Themind is not doing this to scare you. The mind

Page 16: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 15

DADAVANI

says this to warn you, to make you alert. Wewill not be scared like that. It will make theagnani—the one without this Gnan, scared todeath. ‘What if the accident will occur?’ forthat period of time one gets absorbed in mind.

Concentration at the time of driving

Once in a while try to drive from hereto Mumbai and see how you will maintain suchconcentration that you will forget home andeverything else. Ask these CEO’s who tell thedriver to sit aside and they take over the drivingbecause of the concentration of the mind thathappens. People wonder why these masterswould have such kind of hobby of driving acar when he has a chauffer. But he attainsconcentration of mind, no? They attain somemental peace, for a mind, which was agitatedbefore, so they feel happy. The boss feels sorestless and harassed the whole day and whenhe starts to drive the car then he attainsconcentration! And if he does not keep theconcentration in the thick traffic he will run into accident. That is why concentration iscreated either due to fear or if one feels fearfrom God. It is possible to create concentrationif one feels affection like for money or forwealth. One should make an attempt to knowhow the liking can be created, that’s it.

Mind acts like radar

The mind keeps showing its nature. Howis the mind? It keeps working like radar. Anaircraft has radar, which shows that from thisdirection three fighter planes are approaching. That the pilot can detect in the radar. At thattime the person who detects this does not getscared. It is not detected in the radar to getscared. The viewer changes the direction ofhis flight to avoid the collision or the fight.Likewise we have to make such good use of

it. The mind detects like the radar. The natureof the mind is like radar. If it notices fearnearby then it will start to scream and holler. The way radar warns the pilot, the mind toowarns and scares the people here. The wayradar works is the way the mind works. It willsay, ‘hey, the planes are fast coming frombehind, hey they are coming fast.’ You shouldsay, ‘Yes, noted, I am turning, I understood.’So some times it helps like radar.

Sometimes the mind becomesapprehensive and anxious and for no reason itwill scream like radar, ‘hey, they approached, they approached.’ Then we should say,‘brother, let them approach, I am turning inthis direction. Why are you screaming?’ Thenit will talk about satsang again. Then there isnothing that it will hold on to same thing. Weget involved and get scared too, then the mindwill not budge. If we explain—converse withit then it will not continue its scary signals.

Mind is radar and know that it is separate

Questioner : When this mind dictates,it will dictate only when there is the existenceof this phase in it, no?

Dadashri : If it sees such circumstancesthen only it will dictate, otherwise it will not,but circumstances would not be like the waythey appear. But the mind will dictate as itsees. That is its duty. Mind is duty bound. That is why radar is necessary, isn’t it? On thecontrary people like to get rid of this radar.Hey, how is it going to work without the mind?It is radar. That is why the mind is necessary. It warns and cautions if there is something tobe feared, and if there is a place wherehappiness exists then it will say it is a verybeautiful place to enjoy. That means it workslike radar. And if you think that fear is around

Page 17: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

16 November 2006

DADAVANI

the corner then You should get in to the caveof Shuddhatma. In that instance if accidentoccurred as you remained in Shuddhatma, asthe Self, then You did not lose anything, no?And mind dictates then, what do you have tolose in that?

People of this world say, ‘do not showthis kind of fear.’ They do not like it if themind shows fear. But if it shows fear to Youthen get in to Shuddhatma, revert to the Self.

When abnormal thoughts arise

Wise people say why are you worryingwithout any reason? What is the only thingyou need to do? You have to think. And whenthe thoughts become abnormal (bothersome)that means you have started worrying. Ifabnormalities arise in the thoughts then youshould stop, you should close down. Don’twe close the doors when the tornado arrives?Similarly when the thoughts start to arise abovenormal then you should stop. Otherwisethoughts become troublesome and then it willshow you various kinds of fear and all varietiesof fear. That is why you should not proceed inthat direction at all. Just think as much as isnecessary and needed, and then stop.

Not any place in the world to feel surprise

Questioner : There may not be thesurprise element of fear and yet fear exists, and the mind keeps going there.

Dadashri : Whatever you say, either itis fear or the surprise news; the mind will stopthere.

When ‘we’ give Gnan to all thesepeople, their fear goes away. Even though thisone surprise remains that what, this happenedagain? If one finds out that sugar is not goingto be available then for at least two to three

minutes he will be lost in the knots of the mindas to how to get it. These initial two or threeminutes will preoccupy him. Thoughts willarise, what will I do, will do this or that? Hewill look for the solution and then will get lostin the puzzle as if he has to bring it right nowand now only! Yet he is going to get ittomorrow. But why does he need to getentangled right now?

Questioner : He will think in his mindhow to get it, won’t he?

Dadashri : That adjustment does notremain in the morning. He would have forgottenin the morning. It is just a bad habit he hasformed.

Overcoming the dependency on themind is the only purushaarth

Questioner : Can this Gnan (Self-realization) lose its energy and leave if onedoes not become worry free and fearless?

Dadashri : No, after all nothing is leftin that, isn’t it? It cannot happen at this place. But one should perform an experiment invyavasthit, scientific circumstantial evidence. On what basis, this worldly life (sansar) isperpetuated from so long? That foundation isnot fractured yet. That is why one has toovercome this foundation. After attaining ourGnan what is it that one needs to overcome?

Questioner : One should overcome thefoundation.

Dadashri : One has to overcome thatwhich perpetuates this worldly life. Nothingelse. One has to keep on doing the attemptsto overcome the foundation.

Now on what basis does this worldexists? The worldly life is perpetuated because

Page 18: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 17

DADAVANI

the Self becomes absorbed or becomes onein the phases (paryaya) of the mind, in thestate (avastha) of the mind. The intellect doesnot harass you or no one else harasses you. Itis just that the Self became absorbed in themind, and that is the reason the worldly life isperpetuated. Therefore one should keep onovercoming the phases (paryaya) of the mind. One should keep saying (maintaining), ‘notmine, not mine’. Once you keep on thisprocess, You became separate. One hasformed the habit for so long that it does not letyou become free. One has formed habit sinceso long that he experiences gratification. Thisgratification is not felt by Shuddhatma, it is feltby the ego (ahamkar, ‘I am Chandulal’). Thatis why one has to keep on overcoming this. One has to see both separate. One must seeseparate. Then only, one’s task isaccomplished.

The strange nature of the thoughts

What is the nature of thoughts? Thethoughts will arise like it wants to visit thebutcher’s street!

‘Sheshame bahirabhaava.’-Any bhaavthat arises besides these (Gnan and darshan),are external and excessive. Then the sutra says,‘How can these external bhaavs (intents andfeelings) be identified?’ What kind of externalbhaav have you made? Then it says, ‘Savvesanjog lakkhana’. They can be identifiedthrough circumstances or events that arise. Ifa person is stealing, can we not understandwhat kind of intentions had been made? If wedid not find anyone to embezzle our moneythen can we not understand what intentionswe had made? Yes, if the thought came aboutcheating someone that same person will cheatyou. That is the result of that (previous)thought. It is not the result of action. It is the

result of thought. What do people assume? Imight have committed fraud with him so hewill do the same with me. No, it is not likethat! You thought about cheating that is whyyou got cheated. That is why know thethoughts. All these are very risky. Just the word, thought is very risky. Until how long it is risky? It is risky until one has not attained the Gnan(knowledge of the Self). After attaining thisGnan thought does not exist at all. If one getsabsorbed or becomes one with the thoughtsthen it is called thoughts (vicharey to vichaar).

Therefore one should find out hisintentions from the nature of the circumstances. If you had a thought one day in your mind thatwhat is wrong if I meet with an accident? Ifyou had said this once then also such thoughtwill arise. If you had made intentions everydayin your mind that I don’t want to ever meetwith an accident, or even the thought does notarise then you will not meet with an accident. But only one day of entertaining such a thoughtwill let in the possibility of meeting with anaccident. So there must not be anycontradictions. We need to follow with greatunderstanding in this world. Risky! It is full ofrisks.

Fearlessness with the awareness of theSelf

We should not proceed as guided bythe mind. We should guide the mind accordingto our goal.

Say for instance if you had sold thehouse and the children did not know, and ifthey see the house burning then they willbecome furious and very upset! Then thechildren will come screaming at home, ‘ourhouse is burning, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go,’Then the father will say, ‘Hey son, we sold it

Page 19: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

18 November 2006

DADAVANI

yesterday, now leave it alone!’ Then, there isno effect! A person gets beaten up having thewrong knowledge and with the rightunderstanding he becomes free from thesuffering. He got the correct knowledge that,‘brother, now we have sold the house’ thenthe same person again becomes a changedperson, no?

For example you all are traveling withme and we come to a dense forest. All of asudden we hear the growl of a tiger. Then youwill say, ‘we can hear the growling of a tiger. Then I will say, ‘the tiger is in the cage’ soeveryone moves ahead! So in this way theworld runs on each other’s support. Otherwisepeople would die in this world. If the tiger isin the cage and one does not know this fact, then he will definitely feel fear. He will feel fearand scream, ‘it is coming, it is coming!’ It isuseless to die before dying, what do you say? When the time will come for death then wewill say that we died. But to die before thedeath, ‘Oh Baap re—father, I died?’ Onespeaks such words a hundred and fifty times, but he is not dying even one time. Then whatis the use of speaking such a thing?

Do not be guided by your mind

You can win everything if you do notget scared. If you do become scared then allthe ghosts will possess you. Did you understandthis?

Questioner : Yes, I understood.

Dadashri : What decision you havecome up with?

Questioner : I have not come up witha decision yet.

Dadashri : If the decision is not madethen who is speaking inside? Who is speaking

in the parliament? Again under whose guidancehe is speaking? How can you believe whatmind says? After becoming a Gnani (havingreceived the Gnan), who will be guided by themind? Are you becoming free from not lettingyour mind rule over you now? But all that hasbeen bound only, no? That which is bound bythe mind can be unbound with the Gnan. Butwhat is it that makes him so interested that heagrees with the mind?

What are ‘we’ telling our mahatmas(those who have received the Gnan of Dadashriand are following the Agnas of Dadashri)? Donot listen to even a word of the mind. ‘Munka chalta tun chale, taka sarvaswa jaaya’,meaning ‘The one who lets his mind rule hisactions loses everything!’ So you must quitlistening to the mind. How close is Yourrelation with the mind? Do such mistakes exist?

‘We’ are cautioning you to leave asidethis ‘guidance by the mind’ quietly and livewith your independent decision so this will nothurt you later. If You need help of the mindthen take it and if You do not then it is allright, keep it aside. But this mind will moveyou round and round for fifteen days and thenwill get you married. Even great saints havebeen scared of the guidance of the mind, thenhow can you be so naïve? You do not evenknow how to put on shoes properly!

Mind is obedient to the Gnani

We would not have anything that wouldbe in the belief. Our mind would have beensubdued to us. Our mind would not speakanything. If someone were to slap me ‘we’would grant him forgiveness. If someone wereto insult me, ‘we’ would grant him forgiveness. If a police officer were to put me in jail, ‘we’would grant him forgiveness. What will ‘we’

Page 20: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 19

DADAVANI

say to the police officer? I had to lock myhome by myself now you lock the door forme. Is there any problem? Even if a bombwere to explode, You should remain fearlessand unperturbed. Such inner energy and powershould be Your state. Other than this fear isbound to harass you. How can you call this alife? Do you want to become fearless or not?Do you want to stay permanently fearless?

Awareness against thoughts

Questioner : How can we stop thethoughts that harass and make you worry?

Dadashri : To think is not the nature ofthe Soul; it is the nature of the mind. If youwould have made a decision that if all thesepeople are insulting you and you don’t wantto listen, even then the ear will listen becauseof its nature. So it will not stay without listening.Similarly, it is the nature of mind to think. Thethoughts will arise even if you do not like it. Itis its own nature to perform the duty. Thoughtsare gneya (that to be known) and You aregnata (the knower). So whichever thoughtsarise, You have to keep knowing them, Youneed to keep observing them. You should notgive any opinion whether they are pleasant orunpleasant. There is no problem if anyunpleasant thoughts arise. With the intents thethoughts have been charged from the pastlife, with the similar intent will come in toeffect in the current life. We have to keepwatching that those thoughts had been chargedand they are now coming in to fruition. ThisGnan of ours is with samvara (the stoppageof karmic influx) that is why one will notcharge new karma. If You get absorbed orbecome one with the thoughts, then the karmawill charge. (This can never happen after theseparation of the Self from the non-Self, inAkram Vignan).

Questioner : What will be the result ofthese thoughts?

Dadashri : We entrusted the result tothe vyavasthit, scientific circumstantial evidence. We do not have any concern. We just need toremain seated in the car at ease. Mind willsay, ‘What if the car will get in to clash?’ Youjust need to keep watching, that’s it. Afterentrusting its effect to the vyavasthit we shouldjust remain seated at ease.

Questioner : It is not that easy, is it?

Dadashri : It is easy. From the timeyou decide you can remain at ease, becauseit is under the control of vyavasthit. If you tryto meddle in something which is under thecontrol of someone else, you will become fool.Only thing is under your control is to see andto know what is going on for fact. Anythingthat needs to be done right or wrong will bedone by vyavasthit. Actually vyavasthit is notsuch that anything can go wrong. A persondies at the age of seventy, but before that hekeeps screaming for no reason, ‘I died, I died’and gets terrified with fear. The world is notsuch to feel fear about. Mind will show evento me that, ‘What if you will meet with anaccident further ahead?’ Then I will say, ‘Inoted the contents.’ Then it will show anotherpamphlet. Mind does not have anything that itwill hold on to previous pamphlet only. Youshould not get absorbed with the mind. Theworld is evolved due to being absorbed withthe non-Self. All the intents of the mind aredischarge intents (effects). When these causesbegin to discharge and if ‘You’ get absorbedthen the new charge intents (causes) arecreated. You should not take ‘elevation’ or‘depression’ over your head. Nothing is goingto happen. Nothing goes bad. I do not get

Page 21: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

20 November 2006

DADAVANI

involved in the worldly life even for a momentand still nothing goes bad.

Questioner : So is there no need toharbor fear?

Dadashri : ‘We’ should not have anyfear at all. ‘You are Shuddhatma, pure Soul’,nobody can see You, nobody can hurt You,nobody can kill You, nobody can challengeYou! This world remains because of yourghosts (effective mind, speech and body) andirrational fear. Nobody interferes with You. Andif Chandubhai is down a little bit, then Youneed to help him. Stand in front of mirror andpat your self on your own back and tellChandubhai, ‘I am with you, up until now youwere all alone and puzzled. You had no one toconfide your problems to. Now I am with youall the way. Why are you so worried? I amthe Lord. You are Chandubhai, therefore donot be afraid.’ If Chandubhai is elevated thentell him, ‘You are flying high because of myrealm.’ Run the foreign department by sittingin the home department. This Gnan is withoutany connection with the non-Self (nirleyp) andtherefore nothing will touch You.

The chit is responsible for fear and terror

Questioner : Now please explain aboutchit (The subtle part of inner organ which takesexact pictures, which has property of Gnan -knowledge and darshan - vision) properly andits role in the creation of the entanglements-confusion?

Dadashri : Chit goes and seeseverything. The chit visualizes the film whichwas taken from the past life and the mind onlyrenders an opinion that this is good and thisis bad.

Questioner : Is the mind made up of

opinions and tubers-knots?

Dadashri : Mind is not a thing at all, itis only your opinions. And it projects whichopinions you had.

Questioner : So then, is it the chit oris it the mind, which is responsible for thisworldly life?

Dadashri : It is the chit. If you hadbeen to some place and had been severelyscared, then chit will keep on going to thatsame place again and again. So it will keep onterrifying you even when you are sitting at yourhome.

Questioner : The mind gives an opinion,so then what is it that gives rise to terror within?

Dadashri : Mind is the one that formsopinions, and it is the only chit that frightensyou repeatedly. If you watched a terrifyingscene then it will continue to terrify. The chitkeeps seeing (again) everything. The opinionsare rendered on the basis of the knowledge it(the mind) has received.

Questioner : But what is the thing thatbinds a human being?

Dadashri : It is the chit.

Only chit wanders excessively to placesit likes or fears. If you had seen a snake inyour bedroom during the day, you willremember this at bedtime. When chit feels fearthen it keeps on going there and there only.

A time will come when even the doctors’chit will wander far and wide. But it is goodthat during surgery their chit remains present. If the surgery is done without the presence ofchit then after the death of the patient, aftercremation of his body you may find a pair ofscissors. That is why only out of fear of

Page 22: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 21

DADAVANI

malpractice, during surgery doctors keep theirchit present in what they are doing.

It happens to these lawyers everyday. The chit wanders and reaches the court evenwhen they are eating a meal at home. It resetsand stays with them after I teach them. Thechit of these lawyers wanders quite a bit. Alawyer’s chit would wander in the court at thetime of eating a meal. Only a rare lawyer willbe having his meal properly. Otherwise by11.00 o’clock he would be watching the clockand he would have gone to the judge, whilehaving his meal at home. Now the lawyers arehaving a meal at peace after this ‘Gnan’. Then,he also experiences that he is not losinganything. He comes and tells me that, ‘Dada,I had gone at 11.15 AM this morning. I wasthinking that I will be late. But you had said toeat with presence of chit. So I ate withpresence of chit. After that I saw thevyavasthit—the evidences that unfolded. In thatcase judge himself came at 11.30 AM and mycase was the first one to get started.’ I toldhim, ‘It is just like this.’ So why are you afraid? This world is not to feel fear about! The Judgealso has ownership of this world, you have theownership on this world, the defendant is alsoan owner of this world and the plaintiff tooowns this world. This world exists witheveryone’s right. And adjustments are madefor all in this world. This adjustment is exact. It is never inexact.

Get rid of fear for one life

Questioner : If we are settling withequanimity and if the other person misuses thisin his interaction with me, then do I need tocontinue letting him do that to me?

Dadashri : No one has power tomisuse. And whatever misuse is going to

happen, will happen, no one can stop this, noone can change it. So do not harbor any fear.Get rid of all fear completely. Get rid of allfear, enough for at least one life. I do have aguarantee that this can be done.

Where is the need to look for any faultin discharge?

So everything is a discharge (an effect)in this world. Now, to look for the faults in thedischarge is meaningless and will not help youin anyway. This worldly life misery isperpetuated by looking at faults in the effectand discharge of other human beings. WhatYou (mahatmas) consider a result, an effect, adischarge is considered as a cause by theworldly (ignorant, non-Self realized) people, and that is precisely why they are so entangledwithin and find the world to be a puzzle. Theywill say to You, ‘ you did this’ and you(mahatma) will say that, ‘No, this is the result, this is discharge. I am not the doer.’ That iswhy You are fearless. He (A non Self-realized)feels your discharge is a cause and will say,‘Why are you behaving this way?’ Hey mooah(mortal one), we do not feel any fear and whydo you feel fear? And if it all anyone has tofear anything, let it be Dada, because we areall his followers. But I would know that thekind of stock has been filled in the past life, iswhat is now coming forth in discharge. Fromwhere is he going to get any new stock?

It is vyavasthit, keep on doing your work

The only thing that is to be ‘done’ is tosettle the file with equanimity. This all is‘vyavasthit’ (scientific circumstantial evidence)only. In it there is no reason to harbor any fearor worries or stress. Keep on doing your work. What am I saying? Keep on doing the workas much you can. After then it is vyavasthit.

Page 23: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

But there is no reason for you to harbor fear.

Keep ‘seeing’ what is happening

Questioner : Someone is obstinatelyillegal in his worldly affairs and I have noauthority to punish him, but I reported him tomy boss who has the authority to punish. Nowthe boss punishes him. I was the one whoreported the man so did I not becomeinstrumental (nimit) in the punishment?

Dadashri : No, but You do not havethat inner intent in the mind, do you? This isdone by Chandubhai (the non-Self), isn’t it?Then what do You (the Self) need to do? Youneed to keep ‘seeing’ what Chandubhai does. The world will keep on going. You should notharbor any fear. You should keep the innerintent (bhaav) in your mind that let no anyliving being suffer any hurt. Then you need todo your routine; whatever happens in thatroutine You should not meddle in that. Youshould not create any doubts and suspicions. You should remain as the Self. You have toperform your duties, do you not?

This Gnan can liberate you in one morelifetime

This Gnan is such that one more lifetimeis left. What is the reason for even one life? You are following the Agnas that we are givingyou. When you abide by this Agnas, there isa sense of doer ship (karta bhaav). For thisone creates merit karma and one has to takeanother life to enjoy the fruit of merit karma. That is why one more life exists.

Questioner : If one follows the agnathen also is miserable and if one does not thenalso is miserable.

Dadashri : If one follows then there isno misery, there is benefit if one follows the

agna. If one does not follow then it isdangerous, risky. One will earn two to threemore births.

To the ones who are going to beliberated soon…

Questioner : Please tell me if there isanything special about attaining moksha easily.

Dadashri : Is there anything that isparticularly difficult for you?

Questioner : If you show me then onlyI would know, right?

Dadashri : No, but something must bedifficult, no? If you become entangled inanything that is where the difficulty lies. In whatmatters do you not get puzzled the secondtime around?

Questioner : That kind of entanglementdoes not happen anywhere.

Dadashri : Do you get puzzled at leasta little bit? Say for instance if a police officercomes to arrest you with handcuffs, wouldyou not get puzzled and entangled withinimmediately? Would one not make this easybefore going ahead on the path of moksha?Proceeding on the path of salvation one willhave to make at least this one easy, no? Howwill it work there, otherwise? You should tellthe police officer, ‘brother, you came so late. Why did you come so late?’ If the police officercomes with warrant and handcuffs and islooking for Chandubhai, what will happenwithin the mind of Chandubhai?

Questioner : It will get entangled andpuzzled.

Dadashri : I have not left anything thatcan puzzle you. I have given you such a Gnanthat one will not have any puzzle or

Page 24: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 23

DADAVANI

entanglements in any situation. We should self-check what might happen if a police officercomes with warrant and handcuffs for anarrest. And since he has come with a warranthe will not return empty handed will he?

Questioner : No.

Dadashri : We should shake his handand go with him, what is wrong with it? He isarrived so he is not going to leave withoutarresting you. Now our Gnan also will saythat, ‘It is vyavasthit—scientific circumstantialevidence, so the file has come, settle withequanimity.’ We have attained this Gnan inevery different way. So we should tell the policeofficer, ‘Let me shake your hand, or have acup of tea at least and then leave.’ What is theproblem with this approach?

Questioner : It is correct.

Dadashri : I don’t think it has beentested that much. We do need the tested, don’twe? Is it going to work like this otherwise?

Vibrations cease with Gnan, multiplywith ignorance

In the current era of the time cycle oneis not fortunate enough to perform good karmabut has the misfortune of taking part in the evilones. After attaining this Gnan the mahatmasdo not like any negative activities that takeplace due to the unfolding of a negative karma.Whether that karma is positive or negative, itis merely a discharge and in the process it willcreate corresponding vibrations and theneverything will calm down. But for those whodo not have Gnan, they may not even feelremorse when a negative karma is unfolding inthis life. And along with the vibrations of theunfolding karma, their reactions, because oftheir ignorance, create new vibrations (causal

karma). Thus the vibrations are doubled.Because of ignorance there is no telling whenthe vibrations will occur and it will not matterwhether the person is an ordinary householderor an ascetic. Wherever there is ignorance, there is presence of imaginary fear and wherethere is false fear, vibrations are bound to occur.

Liberation is the pursuit of, and thedevotion to, the Self

Now fear and false fear reactions arenot going to affect you anymore, no?

Questioner : No.

Dadashri : Fear does not exist wherethe Self (Shuddhatma) is and where there isfear, the Self does not exist.

The authors of scriptures have said thatit is more than enough if the Self wereestablished even for one samaya (smallestdivision of the time element). If one says, ‘Iam the Self,’ after attaining the Self for evena samaya, then the work is done. After givingyou this Gnan, you say, ‘I am Shuddhatma,’and this happens naturally and automatically. That is why You are the Self, and you havebecome the Self.

Lord Mahavir has said that saying I amthe Self even for a moment after becoming theSelf is liberation. This you have been sayingnow for quite a significant time now, whereasthe other folks are saying this not afterbecoming the Self. Become the Self and thensay, I am Shuddhatma, for just once, then it isenough. Thereafter one has understood thisstate of the Self alone is mine, and all the restis the non-Self, temporary and not mine, thenthe work is done.

Questioner : ‘Ey gupta tattva ne jeyaradhey chhe, te pratyaksha amrut ne paami

DADAVANI

abhaya thhaaya chhe’ meaning the one whopursues and worships the hidden element (theSelf), attains the nectar of immortality directlyand becomes fearless, that is what has beensaid, no Dada?

Dadashri : Yes, the one who pursuesShuddhatma with single-minded devotion;utters Shuddhatma after becomingShuddhatma; will attain the direct the eternalessence of immortality and become fearless.Until one attains the Self, the drops of poison, arising from the state, ‘I am Chandulal,’ willkeep dripping constantly within, and due tothis his speech, conduct and mind-thoughts willcome out poisonous. And when ‘we’ give theGnan, immediately the drops of the nectar ofimmortality (amrut) start to drip, so thethoughts, speech and conduct begins to becomeladen with the taste and energy of immortality.

Incurable worldly affairs and binding ofkarma

Questioner : You have said that theseworldly dealings are discharging only, comingto an end, after taking this Gnan. That isaccepted. Despite this however, somewhereand in some instances there is some interactionfor which there is no cure—and nothing canbe done about it. In such vyavahaar(interaction) what are danger zones for–thesituations about which one has to fear thepossibility of charging (creating new karma)?

Dadashri : Danger zones that chargekarma simply do not exist at all. But thecharging will occur where if there is anysuspicion or doubt creeping in. Once a doubtsets in know that a danger zone has arisen. What kind of doubt and suspicion? It is thekind that takes away sleep. Minor doubts thatcome and leave are not material orconsequential.

Questioner : So then is one to remainblasé and fearless?

Dadashri : No, if one remainsdeliberately careless (befaam), he will be hurt. Why does one not touch hot coals?

Questioner : So then what action is tobe taken to prevent this from happening?

Dadashri : What other action will youtake? The only action one can take is to repentand do pratikraman.

Three danger zones in Akram Vignan

Questioner : Which are the areas thatcan cause one to slip away from the Self, intoworldly life, after attaining this Gnan?

Dadashri : Only three things areresponsible to cause down fall (spiritual) in theworldly life after attaining Gnan. You are freeto enjoy all kinds of good and delicious foods, wear all the beautiful and fashionable clothesyou want, wear fashionable glasses, go andwatch movies, eat anything you want but youshould not eat any meat. Secondly, you shouldnot consume any alcohol and thirdly, you shouldnot have a thought of a woman who is notmarried to you. If the thoughts arise about awoman who is not rightfully yours then dopratikraman. These are the only three dangerzones responsible for slippage and falling fromthe heights of Gnan. There is not any otherthing that can cause to slip down. The dangeris so grave that you would be lost in the oceanof worldly life and its miseries. Slip down meanslost for ever. That is why I am telling you notto accompany me to these lofty heights ofGnan, because if you fall from here, there willbe no trace of a bone of yours left to pick up.It is better to fall from a lower height, than thisone, at least something can be salvaged. There

Page 26: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 25

DADAVANI

are no other danger zones in our path. Otherthen this, carry on your job or business, doeverything, enjoy your snacks and gourmetfoods, have your tea. Even if you drink tea,tea is intoxication, but it will not hurt you likethe intoxication (keyf) caused by the others, would it? Consuming alcohol is to put the selfto sleep and render it spiritually unconscious. Then Gnan is lost and then one binds a lifeform in hell. The same is the case with maritalinfidelity. So take note and be forewarned, these three; meat consumption, alcoholingestion and illicit sexual interaction will keepyou in eternal bondage. You do not like thesedanger zones, do you?

Questioner : No, I don’t.

‘I know’ is spiritual suicide

Questioner : Can one say that this, ‘Iknow, I understand’, is the greatest obstructionin the path of moksha—liberation?

Dadashri : Yes, it is a very grave dangerand will lead to one’s spiritual suicide—aapghatikaaran.

Questioner : Please give moreclarification about this danger. What will belike when one is free form it? What will be aperson like when he is filled with this gravemistake? And, how can one maintainawareness against this mistake?

Dadashri : These small children have ahealthy fear of older people. A little child feelsfear because of the heat of the intellect of theelder person, so what one needs to do? Onehas to become like a child, just like a childwith limited understanding. One has to interactwith children after becoming a little child thenit will play with you. Even a year and half-oldchild would play with me, as if we were of the

same age. Should we not be able to see somekind of result, at least? Think about this andone day you will be able to understand. Onceit comes in to your understanding then you willbe able to find it. And one needs to have animpartial approach—not take sides ofChandulal. This ability to see it from theviewpoint of the child may be difficult for youdue to deficiency of keen internal awareness, but it will come to you eventually.

Danger zones in the path of moksha

Leave and forsake anything thatinterferes in the path of liberation and proceedforward. This is considered one is followingthe goal, and not forsaking it or deviating fromit. No matter how difficult one’s worldlysituation, one must never forsake the goal(dhyeya) of moksha.

Does it move according to your goal, for You? Nothing off track? So it has becomenatural (sahaj) no?

Questioner : I have to keep turning the‘handle’ within.

Dadashri : Do you have to keep itturning? But do they (kashaya: greed, pride, anger and deceit) listen to you? Right away?

Questioner : Right away.

Dadashri : Right away? Will not takeany time? That is good. The mark of liberationis dependant on that. The more they payattention to Your instructions and listen to You,the greater the freedom. By that much Youare separate from them. The Self cannot bebribed, has nothing to do with a bribe, andcannot be tempted by any bribes. When theself is taking any bribes, and succumbing tosuch temptations, it will stop listening to You.If the self if being deceitful in corruption, then

Page 27: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

26 November 2006

DADAVANI

it will stop listening to You—the Self who hasthe goal of moving ahead on the path ofliberation. Once one tastes the fruits oftemptation, the bribes, those enemies(kashayas) will not listen.

Such worldly interaction—vyavahaar willindeed drag one in the contrary direction only,no? For infinite life times this has been thevyavahaar, and this has been the path, no?That has become the custom. So even if he(the non-Self, Chandulal) is going on that sideYou should guide and lead it on Your path andgoal. An ox sees the old lane and will keepwalking on the same track. Now You need tofollow the path according to Your goal. Notthis way, this other one, tell it, ‘Walk on thisone.’

So if one does not take the bribe thenthose inner enemies—anger, pride, deceit andgreed owners, will listen. But once the bribe istaken, the suffering will follow, suffering fromall aspects. Hence, one must never deviate orstep off from the decided goal—dhyeya.

Questioner : What would that bribebe like?

Dadashri : One will go and taste it.And in doing so if it felt sweet, one would sitthere. Having tasted it once, he would returnfor a bottle or two of the same.

All this is deceptive intent. One wantsto be liberated on the path of moksha andalso have a deceptive intent, how can the twostay together? One should have a pure andclear inner intent (daanat) without any iota ofdeception to go taste any promise or lure ofpleasure. The problem is the old habit of delvinginto and tasting the pleasures of the mind andthe body (masti). In doing so one tends tolinger there enjoying the temporary pleasurestherein.

Questioner : Is it the intoxication (masti)of the prakruti—the non-Self complex ofthoughts, speech and body?

Dadashri : What else then? One hasbeen habituated to stay there only, no? SoYou (the awakened Self) need to tell it—thenon-Self, ‘no, I need to go this way, I don’twant to enjoy any masti—transient pleasure, Iwish to proceed on my path and attain mygoal.’ These mastis of the prakruti (formedcomplexes) will lead you in a web ofentrapment.

That which breaks Your goal is yourenemy. How can You afford that? Otherwise, this is akin to entertaining sexual thoughts andideas (abrahmacharya) while wanting to remainon the path of celibacy (brahmacharya).Pleasure will arise within thoughts, but whatcan happen then? Is it not a deadly fault?Thereafter, will not TB—tuberculosis, a chronicillness creep in the goal? Putrefaction startsinvading, no?

Here, one has to make the mind sotenacious and firm that whatever happens inthis life, even if this body were to leave, in thisvery life the ‘work’ needs to be finished andaccomplished. Such an unflinching decision hasto be made. The work then will be definitelyaccomplished by itself. You have to make thisfirm for Yourself. There must not be anysloppiness on Your part. Thereafter, whateverhappens is correct. Thereafter, there must notbe any further uneasiness that it did or did nothappen. Everything will come along.

What is the extent of one’s authority inthis? Deep inner intent (bhaav) that ‘I wouldlike to accomplish this.’ Nischaya—thedetermining energy of the Self—that authorityhas to be used. And secondly, no external

Page 28: Eternally Fearless Through Akram Vignan

November 2006 27

DADAVANI

disease like, ‘let me tell dictate and make otherslisten to (with ego laden speech) this satsang(Akram Vignan),’ and such support of thesubtle inner enemies. Care must be exercisedin that regard, otherwise new disease will takeover within feeding the inner enemies of pridewithin, and one will ride far off on the wrongpath. What will happen to someone like this? There will be no one to bring him back to themain path. Therefore, if You desire liberationdo not indulge in ‘talking about this’. Ifsomeone asks anything, just say, ‘I do notknow.’

To reveal the danger zones and pitfallson the path of liberation is ‘our’ role. If ‘we’do not point them out, the whole caravan ofliberation can be destroyed. All thesemahatmas listening here have come here withtremendous merit karma and hence this speechand topic has expressed in such exact details.Otherwise how is one to know? And whywould ‘I’ enter into such depths? It is just thatin the course of speech interactions, this matterhas come forth. Otherwise who knew that allthis inner stuff was going on?

This is an unprecedented Science—

Vignan. It is such that it has never been heard, read or known before. That is why it solvesthe puzzle (who am I? Who runs this universe?)within an hour. Thereafter this science in thenext hour (of the Gnan Vidhi) grants such amedicine that no fear of any kind is experiencedand the worldly life continues.

Questioner : Actually even at the timeof depression also one is aware of and knowsthat it is happening to the non-Self.

Dadashri : That verily is the Self.Instead one becomes clouded and cold withthe depressive effects. When this happens tothe non-Self, You need to elevate him. Whatelse is to be done? It is not necessary to lifthim up daily. Only when the depression comes, then it is necessary to say, ‘I am full of infiniteenergy, I am the abode of infinite bliss.’

The place where there is never anydepression is ‘our’ location. That place is theplace of infinite bliss. If you say this then Youwill swiftly ascend to Your location. This isnecessary because you have lost a lot so far,no?
