Safety and quality are inseparable fromanother. Our in-house production is sub-ject to the highest standards of care andquality. That is why we are certifiedaccording to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000.Thanks to our workers’ attitude, which isoriented towards fulfilling these stan-dards, we guarantee the highest safety inthe production of web slings and round-slings. Yet, this is not sufficient forDolezych: additional in-house tests onself-owned inspection machinery arepermanently conducted and documented– from the incoming raw materials to thefinal inspection.

The result: Dolezych products areGermany’s top rate web slings androundslings. Inspection certificates ofneutral national and internationalinspection offices confirm that all safe-ty regulations are met at the highestquality standards.

Width and thickness:

Textile web slings should, in regard totheir width, meet the demands of prac-tical applications. They should alsohave the required depth (two, three, orfour layers) to prevent wear. Narrowweb slings of the same carrying loadcapacity are usually deeper than wideones. Decreasing width of the slingnaturally decreases stability of edgesand traverses. This effect reverses withincreasing depth.Wide web slings are useful for hangingloads and especially in combinationwith traverses. Narrow web slingshave advantages for diagonal tensiondue to their compact constructiondesign. They can also be used forchoking procedures.

Wider web slings offer a good supportof the area. Dolezych therefore hasdeveloped the ideal fabric design forsensible and practical sling width. The

fabrics additionally excel in edge sta-bility and resistance against wear andultraviolet rays.

Sling widths and eye types:

We provide web slings with differenttypes of loops depending on width andthe number of layers (see table below).We deliver a standard of single rein-forcement (normal reinforcement)unless you order something different.Full reinforcement offers full protectionfor the eye in a crane hook, increasesstiffness and thereby facilitates e.g. thefastening of a web sling under load.Upon request, we also deliver specialloops which can be optimized to thesize and type of crane hook as well asspecially reinforced loops.We make use of a stable wear resistantrope corpus woven as eye reinforce-ment. In the table below you find anoverview of all technically feasible eyewidths.

DoColor- the logical Colour code

A standardized DIN EN colour code ismandated for all roundslings (made offolded fibres) and web slings (made ofwoven fibres). Accordingly, Dolezych’sweb slings and roundslings of thesame colour have the same carryingload capacity.Web slings and roundslings with a car-rying load capacity of e.g. 1000 kg areviolet, ones with 5000 kg are coded inred and 8000 kg in blue. The standardcolour code for carrying load capaci-ties above 10000 kg isorange.

Elongation:

Dolezych produces web slings androundslings made of polyester (PES),polyamide (PA) and polypropylene(PP), which are the appropriate materi-als according to the standards DIN EN1492-1 and 2.As a standard procedure, all threematerials are being thermoset and pre-stretched. This means that, additional-ly to dyeing and smoothing, eachmaterial receives an exactly determin-ed elongation capacity for both carry-ing load capacity and tearing load.If the elongation capacity is too high, aso-called rubber band effect will occur.If the elongation capacity is too low thebuffering capacity, which is extremelyuseful and important, is lost. That is

why it is important that the web slingretains a certain degree of elongation.The EXAM BBG Bochum has attested ahigher elongation capacity of webslings compared to other lifting devi-ces in fall inspection experiments.

This means for practical use that diffe-rent materials should not be used inpairs due to different elongation capa-cities, e. g. PES web slings should notbe combined with PP- and PA webslings. In the worst case, the weightwill hang lopsided and may slip. Also,the combined use of products from dif-ferent manufacturers can lead to pro-blems concerning the lifting if non-optimized fabric constructions areused which result in higher elongation.

Roundslings, when compared withweb slings of the same lifting capacityand material, offer slightly lower elon-gation capacity, because interwovenstirrup slings are more flexible thanroundslings made of folded fibres.

Identification / LabellingDoMark for woven web slings

Upon request, Dolezych provides theDoMark, an easily recognizable andunambiguous label for the identificati-on of the material and its carrying loadcapacity in addition to the standardmarking. Each web sling carries lettersand numbers like e.g. PES 3000 kg for awoven polyester web sling with a carry-ing load capacity of 3000 kg. It is awoven distinguishing label which issewn onto a large area and cannot belost or torn off. This label is visible overa significantly longer period of use;even in rough or rather dirty conditions.

DoDate – the additional data-carry-ing label for web slings androundslings

For use in higher temperature ranges,Dolezych has made an enormous pro-gress in labeling: DoDate labels willpermanently pro-tect all productrelated data in hightemperature envi-ronments (up to90°C) - no melting,no embrittlement,and full resistanceagainst tearing.The additional labelcontains a textilelayer and is usedas a data carrier forinternal documen-tation, if the timeof start up and thefollowing visual inspection are to bemarked on the product.

DoIdent – the additional productcode for web slings

At an extra charge, we provide webslings with additional DoIdent labels.Annually changing colours and quarter-ly changing barcodes show the time of

production (one bar for the first quarterto four bars for the fourth quarter).These can be used as a distinctive visu-al coding feature in your business.DoIdent labels cannot be torn off orlost, and they can be identified anytime.

DoPremium

Web slings and roundslings of premi-um class are top rate products at yourdisposal.

The DoPremium web sling is con-structed to exceed the required safetyregulation standard by far (approx. byfactor 10 instead of 7). In addition, theyachieve better results in stability con-cerning compression, traverse com-pression and heat resistance.

The DoPremium roundsling fascina-tes users because the quality of its tubeis comparable with a web sling concer-ning construction and depth. That leadsto higher resistance against wear, com-pression and traverse compression. Atthe same time there is better traversestability in comparison with standardroundslings.

Why three materials for web slingsand roundslings?

Dolezych produces textile web slingsfrom polyester (PES) as well as frompolyester amide (PA) and polypropyle-ne (PP). Different materials are beingmanufactured in order to meet differentdemands in practice. PES, PA, PP donot only differ physically or chemicallybut also e.g. in grip, stability and resis-tance against wear, compression andheat. Ask for our advice as to whichmaterial to use. Polyester and polyesteramide can be used according to stan-dard in a range between -40°C and100°C. Polypropylene can be used bet-ween -40°C and 80°C. All three materi-als are resistant against oil and rotting.Polyester is more resistant againstacids whereas polyamide is more alkali-resistant. Here we must emphasize thatresistance rates depend on chemicalconcentrations, temperatures and dura-tion. Ask Dolezych for additional infor-mation in any case.

Codes for material / label

Woven web slings that have strengthe-ned loops are denoted according to thecorresponding material: PES = blue, PA= green, PP = brown. Woven web slingsand roundslings are designated by alabel containing information about car-rying load capacity according to certaintypes of hooking, manufacturer, materi-al, and the date of manufacturing.

Material

Being a specialist for web slings,Dolezych provides a standard range ofproducts offering the best propertiesfor different applications. Due to thecharacteristics of the material, PA has a10 % lower breaking strength when wetcompared to dry status. Dolezych takesthis into consideration in advanceduring the production process. Thismeans that even in a wet state all webslings and roundslings made of PAhave 100 % carrying load capacity (asmarked on the label).

DoLex

DIN EN 1492 defines protection againstsharp edges, chafing and wear on sidesof the load as well as on the sides ofthe lifting device. Web slings and

roundslings consist of either woven orfolded fibre material which has to beprotected during certain lifting procedu-res. Research and development haslead to a variety of solutions for sharpedge protection.DoLex sharp edge protection is stableenough for lifting even sharp-edgedloads. You find information on DoLexon pages 44 to 55.In case of questions about the appro-priate sharp edge protection systems,or about handling or lifting techniques,we are ready and willing to advise.

• Always select the appropriate liftingdevices for the planned transportaccording to type, length and liftingmethod. The load has to be fixedsafely and must not be subject tounintentional movements. Selectionof the wrong carrying load capacityand/or lifting type can cause mecha-nical failure.

• Web slings are inappropriate forsharp-edged loads (only with addi-tional sharp edge protection or ansuitable coating e.g. PU, of at least 5mm strength), or in a temperaturerange from -40°C to +100°C (PESand PA) respectively -40°C to +80°C(PP)

Web slings and roundslingsmust never be stressed excee-ding their carrying capacity!

Procedures for initial use:

Before initial operation of the selectedweb sling, you have to check for itscorrect identification and dimensions.Never use a product which is damagedor without appropriate markings.

Identification of web slings /roundslings:

All Dolezych products carry the labelsprescribed by DIN EN 1492-1 + 2. Thelabel indicates:

Dolezych web slings and rounds-lings are lifting devices accordingto BGR 500 (formerly UVV VBG9a) and meet all demands of DINEN 1492 -1 and 2.

According to these standards, flatwoven web slings and round-slingsmade of chemical fibres are used forgeneral purposes; especially for liftingand the transportation of loads.

Use is only authorized for trained per-sonnel who have been instructed bythe company. This manual needs to beread carefully before the first start-upand has to be followed strictly whenusing Dolezych products. It is validonly for the following Dolezych pro-ducts:

• DoColor Polyester web slings (PES)• DoForce 1, DoForce 2, DoPremium-

and DoWeb-roundslings made fromPolyester (PES)

• Dolezych web sling suspensions• Custom-tailored lifting slings and

roundslings, e.g. made fromPolyamide or Polypropylene

We specifically refer to the followingrules and regulations as pertaining tothe technical specifications in:

Each shipment of Dolezych web slingsand roundslings is accompanied withan explanation of conformity with theEU machinery standard.

Transport of loads:

Always follow a good lifting practice:Plan the lifting procedure, the liftingprocedure and the lowering procedurein advance.

1. Preparations: Determine and dou-ble-check weight and centre of gra-vity. Read the report papers andfreight documents, pay attention tomarked points for lifting and mar-ked indications of weight. Otherwisemeasure the weight with a cranescale. It is NOT appropriate to justestimate the weight. Only after cor-rect determination of the centre ofgravity the crane hooks can bebrought to a correct position!

2. Inform the person operating thecrane about the weight of the load.

3. Bring the crane hook verticallyabove the centre of gravity of theload.

4. Lift and fasten the load:Loads can skid or fall if theyare tied down incorrectly. A fal-ling load can cause seriousinjuries or death.

Lift the load in a way that avoids thedamage of both the load and the liftingdevices.The following has to be taken care ofto avoid twisting and turning over of aload:

a) For single leg suspensions the pointof lifting has to be vertically abovethe centre of gravity of the load.

b) For two-leg suspensions the pointsof lifting have to be even on bothsides and above the centre of gravi-ty of the load.

c) For three and four leg suspensionsthe lifting points have to be even inone level around and above the cen-tre of gravity.

Pay attention to the inclinationangle ß: The higher the inclina-tion angle, the lower the carry-ing load capacity. Inclinationangles higher than 60° are notallowed.

Three and four leg suspensions, whenloaded unevenly, must be treated like atwo leg suspension depending on thehighest angle of inclination concerningthe carrying load capacity.When different inclination angles occurwith two leg suspensions they have tobe treated like single way suspensions.You have to expect uneven distributionof load whenever:

• The load is non-flexible (e.g. concre-te parts, cast parts, short roll/bund-les etc.)

• The position of the centre of gravityis unknown

• The load is formed unevenly• Different angles of inclination occur

Use only appropriate lifting pointsthat are of appropriate dimensions.

Never grasp or reach for anythingunder lifting devices! Web slings androundslings have to be slung in a waythat allows carrying loads over theircomplete width.Short eyes must not be selected whenusing eye slings. An aperture angle of20° must not be exceeded e.g. for lif-ting on a crane hook. For short eyesuse reduction suspensions.

Aperture angles of more than 20°are not permitted!

Never put seams of the web slingsnear or into the range of the cranehook or other lifting devices under anycircumstances. Avoid any damage tothe label. When using more than onelifting device both lifting products have

to consist of the same material (due toe.g. identical elongation values).

Attention! Lifting is forbiddenfor suspended loads!

Exceptions from this rule is lifting of:• Loads of large dimensions, if it can

be ruled out that lifting devices canslip together or the dislocation ofthe load is not possible

• Long, rod-shaped loads under tra-verses if the diagonal movement ofthe traverse is prevented and theload does not bend too much. Thisdoes not apply if the type of load orthe surface of the load or the liftingtype keeps the load or parts of theload from falling out.

For lifting choker loads only eye slingswith reinforced eyes must be used.Web slings with high traverse stability,e.g. with permanent coatings, can onlybe used for choker loads if they areequipped with metal fittings.

Carrying load capacity for cho-ker loads is 80% only!

When using Dolezych suspensions in away that not all legs are necessary,attach the unused legs to the suspensi-on head.The carrying load capacity is reducedcorresponding to the number of legsused.

5. Stay clear of load area immediatelyafter lifting and leave any area ofdanger.

6. Inform all persons involved in thelifting procedure. Warn uninvolvedpersons in the range of the trans-port and in the corresponding lowe-ring danger zone.

Warning: Persons in dangerinclude all slingers and otherpersons staying in the trans-port area.

7. Give unambiguous signals to thecrane operator. Only one personshould give signals.

8. Trial-lift the load and check for thefollowing:a) if the load is stuck or jammedb) if the load is well-balancedc) if all legs carry evenly

9. Lower down lopsided loads andsling them correctly

10. Transport the load by crane11. When transporting bulk loads or

transport in windy conditions leadthe load using a guiding rope orlanyard. Keep out of the dangerzone e.g. by walking next to drivingcranes instead of walking in front ofthem.

12. Lower the load following theinstructions of the slinger.

13. Secure the load against falling andbreaking.

14. Fasten the liftings to the suspensi-on head.

15. When lifting lifting devices makesure they do not get entangled withthe load.

Important references for useand warning hints:

• Avoid any dragging or jerking• Never attempt to pull out the web

sling or roundsling from under load• Avoid dragging the load over a tex-

tile lifting device; never drag webslings or round slings across floorsor over rough surfaces

• Never keep the load in the liftingdevice if any damage may result

• Textile lifting devices can only be

used for sharp edged loads or loadswith rough surfaces if the areas indanger are protected. A sharp edgemeans that the radius of the edge ris smaller than the depth of the lif-ting device d.

DoLex coatings protect web slings androundslings against sharp edges. Wedifferentiate between DoLex webslings with a permanent coating andweb slings and roundslings withmovable DoLex profile hoses. DoLexpermanent coatings should only beused for loads that are unable to movein the web sling. Thus no relativemovements between coating and loadcan occur. Because of this they areinappropriate e.g. for turning procedu-res. In these cases DoLex hoses arefavourable.

Warning: Sliding on sharpedges can destroy even DoLexcoatings!

PVC-and PU-protective material orother equipment (e.g. impregnations)only protect against rough surfaces butnot against sharp edges!

• Web slings and roundslings mustnot be knotted or be loaded whentwisted.

• Roundslings must not be joined byknotting or interchoking.

• Textile products have to be pro-tected against flying sparks resul-ting from cutting, grinding or wel-ding.

Cleaning:

Web slings and roundslings have to becleaned with clear water only withoutusing additional chemicals. Productswhich have become wet through useor cleaning should be hung up for dry-ing.Do not heat them or quick-dry them inany case.

Storage:

Before storing always examine webslings and roundslings for possibledamage resulting from use. Do notstore damaged lifting devices.When unused they should be storedon a shelf in a clean, dry, well-airedenvironment. They should be keptaway from heating, chemicals, fluentgases, corroding surfaces, direct sun-light or other ultraviolet light source.

Use of Dolezych web slingsand roundslings inconnection with chemicals:

The materials that are used for the pro-duction of textile products (PES, PA,PP) differ concerning their physicalcharacteristics (e.g. grip, stability andabrasion resistance) as well as inregard to different resistance againstchemical influences.

Polyester is more resistant againstmany acids whereas polyamide ismore resistant against many alkalinesolutions. Polypropylene is resistantagainst many acids as well as againstmany alkaline solutions.

Warning! All materials can bedestroyed or dramaticallyreduced in carrying loadcapacity by chemicals depen-ding on concentration, tem-perature and duration.

Feel free to ask the manufacturer foradvice regarding the use with chemi-cals. If web slings and round slingshave been in contact with chemicals,immediately clean them with clearwater or other appropriate means.Make sure to follow the rules of safety.Even seemingly harmless acid- or alka-line solutions can become concentra-ted enough to cause damage by eva-porating!

Use in different temperatureranges:

Dolezych web slings and roundslingsare suitable for use in the followingtemperature ranges:Polyester / Polyamide: -40°C to +100°CPolypropylene: -40°C to +80°CContact us for information as thesetemperature ranges may change in achemical environment. In temperatu-res below 0°C only dry lifting productsmust to be used.

Regular inspections:

According to BGR 500, an expert has toexamine lifting devices at least once ayear. Use our Dolezych inspection ser-vice! We examine your lifting deviceseither in the Dolezych test centre, atyour enterprise, or directly on-site.Depending on the operational conditi-ons of the lifting devices inspections inshorter intervals may be necessary.This applies to intensive use, frictionalwear, corrosion, heat, and if experi-ence indicates that a higher danger of

damage is to be expected.Over the period of use, visual inspecti-ons carried out by the user can makesure that no damages occurs whichmight endanger the continuous safeuse.Visual inspections also apply for metalfittings, connectors and identificationmarkers.In the following cases the lifting devicehas to be examined by an expert:• in case of doubt about the usability• if the identification (label or marker)

has been lost• after damages or incidents that may

reduce carrying load capacity

Examples of defects and damages pro-hibiting any continuous safe usage are:Abrasion of the surface, axial sectionor cross section, cuts or worn areas onedges, eyes or meshes, chemical influ-ence, damaged or deformed metal fit-tings, cuts or worn areas on roundslinghoses, damaged protection hoses orsharp edge protection pipes.

Dolezych repair service:If your lifting devices are damagedthey can be repaired by Dolezych spe-cialists. This helps to save your money.Never attempt to repair lifting devicesyourself!

Indications for Disposal:Dolyezych web slings and roundslingsmust no longer be used in case of• damage to the woven edges or

woven textile or large amount ofbroken threads; e.g. more than 10%of the total number concerning themost damaged cross-section

• damage to suspending seams orreinforcements or the correspon-ding seams

• damage to suspending yarn clutch(no repair possible)

• deformation caused by heat (fricti-on, radiation)

• damage resulting from aggressivechemicals

• deformation, tears, fractures andother damages on metal fittings

• unreadable or lost identification

General indicationsof danger:

Lifting of loads using lifting devicesendangers all personnel directly underloads or next to loads. As the manu-facturer, we have to remind you thatresidual dangers exist while operatinglifting devices. This holds especiallytrue if the connection between liftingdevice and load is not safe or the loadswings after elevation and endangersthe slingers. Falling loads do endangerpersons and goods.

As a user you are responsible for goodtraining measures of your slingers andcrane operators. are lightweight and handy. The eyes arereinforced by coloured abrasion-resis-tant woven material. The eye reinforce-ment does not swell up when wet: thatis why we do not use leather.

For 1-4 layer web slings we diffe-rentiate between two differentlysewn types of eyes that haveshown their efficiency in practice:

For multi layer web slings the flat eye isstandard. They are available in normalreinforcement and full reinforcement.

Single layer stirrup slings are producedwith a 90° turned “inversed eye” (typeC + D Page 28). They are available innormal reinforcement and full reinforce-ment.

Dolezych endless web slings (1- or2-layer) according to DIN EN 1492-1 areperfectly suited for use with traversesin lifting or choking use. Compared toeye slings, endless web slings aremuch simpler to sew and thus arehighly economical lifting devices.

What is the “pre-slung”technique?

The so called “pre-slung” technique isused for the storing and transport ofgoods which have been slung in advan-ce (“pre-slung”). This means that theendless web slings remain slung per-manently around the loading unitduring the whole transport.Exclusively for this technique, endlessweb slings for repeated use can be loa-ded with the maximum carrying loadcapacity denoted on the label multi-plied with 1,4! These web slings haveto be disposed of at the end of trans-portation. Further use is allowed only, ifno defects possibly concerning thesafety have occurred (see BGR 500,5.8).

According to the current DIN EN 1492-1the factor of carrying load capacity is1:7, so the relevant coefficient is 1,4 –see BGI 556 (edition 2004).

Explanation: The old factor 1,6 as themaximum coefficient is no longer valid,because it used to be relevant for webslings with a factor of carrying loadcapacity of 1:8.

There are web slings for repeated use(as shown on page 38 and 39) accor-ding to DIN EN 1492-1 and one-use webslings according to DIN 60005. The pre-slung technique according to BGR 500makes sense only with this distinction.Practically speaking: Pre-slung techni-ques can be applied only to web slingsfor repeated use according to DIN EN1492-1.

Pre-slung techniques are forbidden forone-use or disposable web slings, likeASG web slings which meet DIN600005 only.

By the way: Considering pre-slung tech-niques, one usually thinks of textileweb slings. Pre-slung techniques canalso be applied to textile eye slings orwire rope slings. Chain slings are notappropriate for pre–slung techniques.

DIN 600005:

Because of this DIN 600005 was deve-loped as the new basis for one–wayslings.

What does DIN 600005:2005 spe-cify?

• Safety factor 1:5 is valid, that meansthat the minimum breaking forcemust be the carrying load capacitymultiplied by 5

• Minimum thickness of the slingmaterial is 1 mm

• Maximum band width is 100 mm• For unambiguous identification of

one-way use, all web slings areequipped with an orange label

• At the end of the chain of transporta-tion, this means that the one-useweb sling must be destroyed

By coming into effect DIN 600005 and aresulting DIN EN in Germany (corres-pondingly in Europe) there is no longerany danger of confusion concerningthe carrying load capacities.

One-use, or disposable web slings canhave very different designs in practicalapplications, such as endless webslings or eye slings in different colours.

One-way use web slings are producedaccording to DIN 600005 and have asafety factor of 1:5. That means that asling with a carrying load capacity of 1t has to reach a breaking load of 5 t.One-use web slings are used for thetransport of goods from manufacturerto the customer. They have to be dis-posed of at the end of the chain oftransportation.

Historic situation:

Web slings, especially endless webslings which were not produced inaccordance to DIN EN 1492-1 used tobe called disposable slings. Theseslings differing from DIN EN 1492-1neither did have a colour code nor astandardized, and therefore, unambi-guous labelling. They do not meet theminimum thickness prescribed by theindustry standard.

They were intended for one way-useand supposed to be destroyed after-wards. The safety factor for one-useslings should be 1:5 which is derivedfrom the regulations of BGR 500.In real-life use, these one-use / dispo-sable slings were also used for pre-slung procedures although they werenever intended for this at any rate (seereference to pre-slung procedures onpages 38 and 39).

In some European countries such dis-posable slings were produced withsafety breaking factor 1:4 and evenerroneously used for pre-slung proce-dures in some German enterprises.

Pipeline lifting sling mats are real power packs when itcomes to the laying of pipes. They are made of polyesterlifting mats with two sewn-in eye traverses each and acorresponding traverse with hooks. They are producedaccording to DIN EN 1492-1.

Sharp edge protection

Profile hoses

Why sharp edge protection? Because the webbing needs to be pro-tected against cuts or because trans-ported goods must be protected.Profile hoses as well as permanentcoatings for web slings consist ofpolyurethane*.

What is sharp edge protection?The web sling or roundsling is equippedwith a textile profile hose which is coatedwith a minimum of 5 mm polyurethane.These are slideable and replaceable profi-

le hoses called DoLex 1+2).

Alternatively, a web sling can be sea-led with at least 5 mm of polyurethaneon each side. This coating is fixed per-manently to the web sling (DoLex per-manent coatings see pages 49-51).

All permanent coatings and profilehoses can additionally be equippedwith granular material with rough sur-faces for improved slip resistance.

*Polyurethane is a very resistantmaterial. Compared to the flat state itbecomes harder and more resistantagainst cuts when it is laid around asharp edge. This effect results from themolecular structure which is compres-sed by a stressed surface.

What is a sharp edge?

An edge is defined as sharpif the radius of the load (r) issmaller than the radius (d)(thickness) of the web slingor rope or lifting chain.?

Coil-Transport: Because ofthe high surface pressure itis recommended to reduce

the load to 2/3 of the nomi-nal capacity. Also avoid any

lateral movement of thesharp metal corner

across the protectivehose of the lifting

device!

Coils should be pro-tected by a packaging

sheet,so that the innercutting corner which is

extremely sharp canbe protected!

Profile hoses

Due to their special textile core, DoLex1 profile hoses (see next page) areeasy to slide on and replaceable. Onlythis allows the turning of sharp-edgedloads safely. DoLex profile hoses crea-te the following effect: When the loadis lifted, the profile hose keeps in con-tact with the load whereas the websling slides gently through it allowingfor elongation and free positioningunder load.

Hint: The DoLex profile hose must bemuch shorter than the eye. Only thisallows free movement of the profilehose.

DoLex 1 profile hoses

Similar to DoLex 1 profile hoses DoLex2 ribbed hoses can be slid on and easi-ly be replaced. DoLex 2 with ridge isequipped with a latitudinal channelwhich has to be placed towards theload. The advantage is that the loadfirst lies on the rib. The hose thereforeclings tighter to the load and offersbetter protection against slipping off. Italso reduces the danger of crushing.The textile core hose allows for gentlesliding of the web sling.

DoLex 2 profile ribbed hoses

The DoLex 2 profile hose with roundededge is a further development of theDoLex 1 sharp edge protection. Therounded edged of the DoLex 2 hoseoffers better protection against squee-zing of the web sling in the bucklingarea. In addition, the greater flexibilityof the hose makes handling easier.

Permanent coatings with a minimumthickness of 5 mm are advantageous ifgoods of small weight and width haveto be transported with web slings ofshort effective length. Here, permanentcoatings offer better flexibility thanshort and therefore inflexible hoses.DoLex permanent coatings are perma-nently sealed to the web sling - trans-parent for easier inspections of thefabric. However, DoLex permanentcoatings should only be used if theload cannot move and there is no rela-tive movement between load and coa-ting. Choose DoLex profile hoses forall lifting procedures with relativemovement.Please note: Permanent coatings areinappropriate for turning sharp-edgedloads!

Web slings made of wire mesh

DoPlus eye slings with double sewn-onsling protection are almost indestructi-ble. The additional sling protectionoffers extra abrasion protection forextremely rough use. If necessary, theabrasion protection can be replaced.

As a special order, DoPlus eye slingscan be produced foldable. E.g. a bandof 120mm width and 9 mm thicknesscan be changed to 60 mm of bandwidth and 18 mm of thickness.

Web slingCoating

Web slings can only be used with loadsthat have sharp edges or rough surfa-ces when they are protected at all areasin danger. All Dolezych web slings aretherefore form-stabilized, braced andfinished during manufacturing.For some kinds of usage, this is notenough. For rough use, the DoRobusteye sling has been developed. Thisweb sling has a sealed texture thatworks as a “built-in” abrasion protecti-on . The stirrup slings are coated withsynthetic (approx. 1 mm of PU) afterproduction. In doing so, the seams aresealed and protected. Do Robust is

highly abrasion-resistant despite beingflexible and even more durable thanstandard web slings. In inspec tionseries, the DoRobust web slings haveshown significantly longer serviceperiods.

If you consider a thinner and thereforecheaper coating to be sufficient, choosethe medium variant instead of thestrong coating. A further abrasion protection variant:

For the lifting and transport of loads,again and again new, more economic,and simplifying constructions havebeen developed which the market hasbeen waiting for.

DoLyft has no movable parts and istherefore wear-free. Simple and safehandling achieved by lateral threadinginto the middle link guarantees the cor-rect mounting.

Adjustment support for pairwiselength adjustabilityStarting from the fixed eye, all webslings have length markers in the sameintervals. You can take care of evenintervals when fixing to traversesalready. The load should in general befixed directly to the load to avoid thelifting type “basket”. Allows for trans-port of staircases, bannisters and facili-ty components according to the needsof construction. Many loads have to betransported as needed for constructi-on, not horizontal. This makes con-struction work easier and no supportconstructions are necessary. Alsoasymmetric parts can gently be sup-ported at any given point in a way thatkeeps them hanging horizontally.

Colour marks: DoLyft web slingshave pre-programmed elongation.During transport, an inclination angleof 60° should not be exceeded. As ameans of control the red colour markon the base plate of the 3-point forceconnector is used. The ready-to-useDoLyft web sling meets the standardDIN EN 1492-1, the 3-point force con-nector is constructed according to thedemands of BGR 500.DoLyft web slings can quickly be repla-ced. To maintain all functions theyshould only be replaced by original

DoLycht web slings. Also because of:

The DoPremium roundslingresults from optimizing all availablequalities concerning abrasion resistan-ce, widths, tearing resistance , wrink-ling tendency, service periods andsafety coding.

The roundsling cover of the well- pro-ven DoWeb has been developed evenfurther. The improved webbing designnow offers more protection againstabrasion and improves handling as thewrinkling tendency has been reducedto a minimum.

3 materials, 3 superb qualities for woven webslings and roundslingsProductionPolyester- as well as polyamide- and poly-propylene fibres are produced by melt spin-ning. The raw materials are granular materi-als which are melted and pressed in spinne-rets. The spinnerets produce thin single tre-ads consisting of either polyester- or polya-mide- or polypropylene fibres. This procedu-re consumes energy. The energy consumpti-on is smaller corresponding to a lower mel-ting point. That means that for the producti-on of polypropylene fibres less energy isneeded than for the production of polyester-or polyamide fibres. All three of these mate-rials can be disposed of environmentallysafe. Storage as well as waste combustion isproblem-free. Water and carbon dioxide arethe only combustion products.

EquipmentStirrup slings for textile web slings and pipesfor roundslings consisting of polyester andpolyamide are usually made of polyurethane(PU). Colouring with polyurethane equip-ment follows during the pre-drying processat 130° - 160°C. Then follows drawing (ther-mosetting) with at least 130°C, usually bet-ween 160°C and 200°C.For the production of stirrup slings andhoses from polypropylene however, spindyed fibres are used as later colouring of PPis impossible because of its low deformationpoint. For higher abrasion resistance, PP isequipped with acrylate or a mixture of acry-late and PU at a temperature between 60°Cand 100°C. The ranking of non-equippedmaterials, concerning abrasion resistance, isas follows: Polyamide is slightly better thanpolyester. The third place goes to polypropy-lene.

Ready-made materials are more difficult to

measure. For PES, PA and PP, the quality ofthe raw materials used for additional equip-ment, temperature effects and the producti-on procedure influence the result.Concerning abrasion resistance, polyesterand polyamide should be comparable, poly-propylene is slightly weaker.Fibres in folded roundslings are usuallyuncoloured white and need not be abrasionresistant, as the hose works as abrasion pro-tection. This applies for roundslings made ofpolyester as well as for poly-amide and forpolypropylene.

Practical use:Ready-made web slings and roundslingsmade of three different materials differ con-cerning elongation, resistance against che-mical and thermal impact. Polyester rounds-lings show the least elongation of 1 - 1,5%.Polypropylene follows with 2,5 – 3% beforepolyamide with 3%. Elongation of rounds-lings is intrinsically elastic elongation, as theinner fibres of roundslings are folded andnot woven. Elongation of woven web slingsis a combination of structural elongation andelastic elongation. Structural elongation is asettling phenomenon which lengthens theweb slingw permanently. This settling phe-nomenon is already finished after a few usesup to the carrying capacity. Elastic elongati-on is the enlargement of web slings underload. After the first load (and correspondin-gly the biggest enlargement) and the follo-wing relief the elongation will disappearcompletely.After a few cycles of load and relief elongati-on will become constant. That means theelongation curve will remain approximatelyconstant within the range of the carryingcapacity.Woven web slings with optimized elongation

undergo a drawing procedure during theirproduction. At full carrying capacity, theyhave a total elongation (structural plus elas-tic elongation) of 3 -5% (PES), 5 - 7% (PA6)and 4 - 6% (PP).

Comparing the temperature range of thethree materials, it is most striking that bothpolyester and polyamide can be used to upto 100°C. Polypropylene can be used accor-ding to the standard to up to 80°C at least.Ask for use in other temperature ranges.

When used with chemicals, please note thatpolyester is highly resistant against acids.Polyamide is resistant against alkaline soluti-ons. Polypropylene can be used for acids aswell as for alkaline solutions. However, youshould pay attention to the practical conditi-ons of use. In any case, you should observethe concentrations of acids and alkaline solu-tions, the influence of temperature and theduration of use. Dramatic risks concerningthe service period exist in different conditi-ons. Ask for our advice!

Depending on concentration, tem-perature range and duration of use,even products from polester, polya-

mide and polypropylene can beweakened.When in doubt, please let

us know about the conditions ofuse, so we can calculate the appro-priate material and carrying capaci-

ty range.
