From: Section Chair (on behalf of Section Member Leadership Team)

Dear Member:

For the past decade, our section leadership has worked very hard not to raise the registration fee for the month-ly dinner meetings.

In 2007, Section LC did a thorough analysis, cut down some traditional but unnecessary expenses (e.g. printingnewsletter), and invested all the savings into subsidizing our events (e.g. Dinner Meeting, Quality Day, DecemberSocial) to keep them affordable.

As a result, we increased our monthly participation from 40-60 attendees to 100-130. Our membership alsogrew from 1,150 to almost 1,350, taking our section from the 4th to the 2nd largest.

For the past several years, enrollment in our educational programs, a traditional revenue stream, has been indecline and the section has been incurring losses. As such, we cannot continue offering the same pricing onmember events without severely affecting the quality of our program.

This decision was not reached lightly. We reviewed many avenues to reduce costs before coming to this conclu-sion, such as changing the venue from the DoubleTree to the Wyndham

Our current costs for the events include:

Paying an average of $55 per person to the hotel Pay about $3.00 for on-line registrations (roughly $300/mo)

Pay about $3.00 for banking fees for any transaction. Pay for a token of appreciation to our event speakers Cover parking for attendees (~$12/attendee/event) Give away lot of prizes in our December social Give away 0.6 RUs per meeting

Therefore, I urge you all to take this increase positively and supporting it to keep the section going. Please keepin mind.

We realize that price increases are never welcomed, but I hope the you can still join us in seeing the positive val-ue in the cost to benefit analysis.

Please note:

We are only increasing previously no charge, late and walk-in registrations. These changes will be effective from May 1, 2018.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to write to at [email protected] Member Leadership will try every effort to accommodate your suggestions.

Dinner Meeting Registration Price Modification Notification

We are not increasing the early bird member and non-member price.

A Message from: Ashesh Saraf (Instructor and a Volunteer in ASQ MN Chapter Educational Committee) -Student Researcher at Metropolitan State University

Dear Participant,

Many organizations are implementing ISO 9001:2015, and conflicting opinions have been expressed about thenew standard. For this reason, I am studying the relationship between the new features of ISO 9001:2015 andthe operational performance of organizations choosing to become certified. The following survey assesses anorganization’s implementation of ISO 9001:2015 along with its operational performance and its impact on ex-ternal providers. I am conducting this survey for my dissertation, which is part of my Doctor of Business Ad-ministration program at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Please complete the survey which is being delivered via Qualtrics. The survey should only take about 10 to 15minutes of your time. This research is both confidential and anonymous. Only group results will be presentedor documented, not individual answers. Your help with this research is strictly voluntary and you do not haveto answer any questions you do not wish to.

The results of this survey will be aggregated with other survey responses and presented publicly at Metropoli-tan State University. If you would like to receive the results of my survey, please send me an email with youremail address.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me via email or phoneat [email protected] (320) 420-0176. You may also contact my faculty advisor, Dr. Susan Mis-terek via email at [email protected] or phone at (612) 659-7259.
