Repositories & ERIH
• For open repositories in general– For journal publications in the humanities the OA-
principle of Repositories applies perfectly
– Open Journals should be in Rep.
– For monographs, eBoooks might offer an alternative
– All other kinds of databases (national, ISI?)
• For institutional repositories– Same as above: It‘s a strategic decision …

ERIH requirements & DRIVER 1/2
• Large Scale Effort …– DRIVER is meant as an infrastructure for large scale
initiatives such as ERIH• If ERIH was based on repositories …
– … direct access to resources for researchers– … machine access to resources (e.g. usage / citation)
• Backbone for European Portal …– … most important information management is already
there– … individual portals can easily be prepared
• Humanities Resources …– … could be managed through „community managers“

ERIH -- DRIVER
ERIH requirements & DRIVER 2/2
• Assessment tools …– … could be linked to repository infrastructure
– … can be plugged in as additional services
• Further Publication Formats …– … monographs are already manageable
– … other will be topic of DRIVER-II
