K-TOPK-TOPEpoxy Cast Iron Pipes and Fittings
GENERAL INFORMATION
1
ApplicationsK-TOP Epoxy Cast Iron Soil and Drain System is designed specifically for internal soil and rainwater waste
disposal, both above and below ground. It is particularly suitable for the new building or refurbishment of apartment
blocks, multi storey offices, hospitals, prisons, car parks etc.
Although weighing less it provides all the benefits of conventional cast iron and also offers significant labour savings
due to efficient jointing techniques. It employs a mechanical jointing system using simple, efficient and reliable
couplings. It can be fitted both horizontally and vertically.
CoatingsK-TOP pipes and fittings are coated with red epoxy internally and externally.
Quality StandardsK-TOP pipes and fittings are conforming to product standard BS EN 877:1999, ISO 6594:2006. The pipes and
fittings are manufactured in grey cast iron which exceeds the requirements of ISO 185 Grade 15.
K-TOP pipes and fittings to be jointed by stainless steel couplings with screws and nuts set and elastomeric
gaskets. The couplings are conforming to all mechanical requirements of BS 6087:1990 and composed of SUS 304
or SUS 316 stainless steel clamp assembly. The gaskets are conforming to ISO 4633 and can resist normal domes-
tic effluents with thermal effects up to 70°C temperature. Earth continuity shall also be incorporated.
K-TOP pipes and fittings have been undergone tests performed by HKAS accredited laboratories under HOKLAS.

BENEFITS OF CAST IRON
Remember the well known expression "a cast iron guarantee", well that is an indication of the integrity associated with the material. It is resistant to impact damage and is ideally suited to installations such as car parks, hospitals and shopping centres.
Strength & Durability of Cast Iron
Long Life of Cast IronOnce installed a cast iron internal soil & waste or rainwater system should last the lifetime of the building. This provides significant cost benefits when buildings are modernised every 20 - 25 years as the cast iron stacks will remain in place with only the waste discharge pipework requiring replacement to accommodate redesigned kitchen and toilet areas.
Low Maintenance of Cast IronThe combination of great strength and improved surface coatings on our Drainage Systems offers a fit and forget solution in most installations. This is very important when pipework is concealed and inaccessible and where mainte-nance would be disruptive to the occupants.
Cost Effectiveness of Cast IronWhen specifying drainage products consideration should be given not only to initial material costs but also additional costs associated with fire protection, sound insulation and extra bracketry. Modern mechanically jointed cast iron systems meet the requirements of both client and specifier without the need for extra labour and materials and are therefore more price competitive than once thought.
A further point worthy of consideration is cast iron will not need replacing in 20 - 30 years time when most other mate-rials will be coming to the end of their life span.

Resistance to High TemperaturesCast Iron has an extremely low coefficient of expansion which means it is the ideal material for waste pipework where high temperature fluids may be discharged. No expansion joints are required on our Drainage System and the pipes will not distort or bend as they could in a uPVC or PE system.
Less Embedment below GroundIn ground conditions subject to movement or additional loading cast iron is the ideal choice. Other materials will prob-ably require extra protection in the form of concrete surround or cover whereas in most circumstances a cast iron system has the inherent strength to withstand such conditions, saving time and money on site.
Fire ResistanceThe melting point of cast iron is considerably higher than uPVC or PE and in the event of fire will not emit toxic fumes or drop molten globules of material from one compartment to another. Building Regulations require intumescent fire collars to be fitted to uPVC pipework on projects such as offices and apartments; cast iron has no such requirement!
100% RecyclableA subject previously not considered by many in the construction industry was the impact on the environment caused by the manufacture of various building materials. Cast iron reduces the use of natural resources by utilising almost 100% scrap metal in the manufacturing process, and when a cast iron system eventually reaches the end of its life span in say 60 - 70 years the scrap material can be re-used in the production of new castings.
It is also able to withstand the rigours of on site handling, mechanical deblocking and vandalism. It provides capabili-ties that will meet the needs of new and existing buildings.
The combination of these benefits and features is a matchless product that delivers lifetime solutions to all your drainage needs.
Low Noise OperationA factor often overlooked is the sound transmission created by waste water running through pipework manufactured from material with a much lower density than cast iron. It is often inappropriate to install uPVC, PE or Stainless Steel pipes because of the noise problems caused in projects such as hotels, hospitals, apartments and flats.
