¡Bienvenido a tu curso inicial de Inglés Técnico! Alineados con la visión de ser una aerolínea de talla mundial, el objetivo principal de este curso es que logres desarrollar las herramientas comunicativas necesarias para llevar a cabo una operación segura y cálida. DÍA 1

Introducción y EPT

Objetivo: Determinar tu nivel de inglés. Te explicaremos los lineamientos de clase y los objetivos; luego realizarás una prueba escrita de inglés general, dividida en 3 secciones: audio, gramática y comprensión de lectura. Es una gran oportunidad para que midas tu nivel en el idioma, y además podrás saber cuáles son tus fortalezas y oportunidades de mejora.

Fraseología Aeronáutica

Objetivo: Reconocer y utilizar el vocabulario aeronáutico necesario para tu nueva labor como Tripulante de Cabina de Pasajeros.

Aquí te familiarizarás con un amplio vocabulario aeronáutico. Conocerás la terminología asociada a las diferentes zonas de un aeropuerto, para lo cual debes remitirte al blog del departamento de inglés: internextclub.wordpress.com/initialcourse y acceder al Pictionary, ya que tendrás una actividad inicial en la que se evaluará el estudio previo de la terminología correspondiente a las partes del aeropuerto. También estudiaremos el vocabulario asociado a las partes del avión y sus funciones. Finalmente, reconoceremos el equipo de emergencia relacionado en la GUIEA de un A320.

Briefing en Salidas de Emergencia

Objetivo: Estar en capacidad de hacer un briefing de salidas de emergencia a viajeros angloparlantes.

Iniciaremos socializando los boletines operaciones 15-008 y 16-010, recuerda traer tu manual de Boletines y Circulares y tu Manual de Auxiliares de Vuelo. Repasaremos el briefing en salidas de emergencia y tendrás la oportunidad de practicarlo.

Se asignará una tarea en la cual podrás hacer uso de toda tu creatividad!

DÍA 2

Anuncios de Alto Impacto

Objetivo: Alinear la lectura de anuncios de los estudiantes con las expectativas de la organización (calidez, empatía y alto impacto).

Te explicaremos los 5 niveles para lograr una lectura de anuncios de alto impacto y te brindaremos las herramientas para que leas tus anuncios de manera cálida y efectiva.

Anuncios de Emergencia

Objetivo: Familiarizarte con los anuncios de emergencia.

Tendrás la oportunidad de familiarizarte con los anuncios de emergencias en tierra y agua. Así mismo te proporcionaremos un listado con las palabras de mayor dificultad en su pronunciación y lo más importante: ¡vamos a practicar!

Situaciones Médicas a Bordo

Objetivo: Conocer el vocabulario general para atender situaciones médicas a bordo.

Nuevamente, apoyados en la valiosa herramienta del pictionary, conocerás las partes del cuerpo humano y terminología relacionada con situaciones médicas.

Solicitudes Formales

Objetivo: Hacer solicitudes de seguridad a los viajeros utilizando lenguaje formal.

En este módulo aprenderás a realizar solicitudes de seguridad a nuestros viajeros de una manera cortés y amable, para evitar que el viajero tenga la percepción que está volando con “policías” a bordo. Practicaremos en clase, los diferentes escenarios que requieren este tipo de solicitudes, siguiendo nuestro Manual de Auxiliares de Vuelo.

Reportes en el Libro de Cabina

Objetivo: Generar reportes en el libro de cabina, siguiendo los lineamientos establecidos en el Manual de Auxiliares de Vuelo.

Iniciaremos el módulo revisando las diferencias entre el CML (Cabin Maintenance Log) y el AML (Aircraft Maintenance Log) y aclarando los tipos de reporte que deben hacerse en cada libro. Luego, te explicaremos el paso a paso de cómo realizar reportes, utilizando las estructuras gramaticales correctas, según el tipo de reporte. Así mismo, te proporcionaremos un glosario que te será de gran utilidad para futuros reportes en el libro de cabina.

Nuevamente te asignaremos una tarea en la cual podrás hacer uso de toda tu creatividad!

DÍA 3

Servicios Especiales

Objetivo: Dar manejo a los diferentes servicios especiales de la compañía.

Resaltaremos la importancia de la labor del Tripulante de Cabina en la asistencia a viajeros que viajan en condiciones especiales. Se explicarán las características de los diferentes servicios especiales, cuál es el manejo a bordo, y si existe algún tipo de restricciones.

Able-Bodied Passengers ABPs

Objetivo: Seguir la secuencia en inglés para preparar ayudantes para una evacuación.

Primero definiremos que es un ABP, socializaremos el boletín operacional que establece este procedimiento y haremos un repaso de la preparación de ayudantes para tierra, ditching y cancelación de salidas. A través de diversas herramientas que te proveeremos, estarás en la capacidad de instruir ABPs para las situaciones mencionadas anteriormente

Comandos de Evacuación

Objetivo: Dirigir una evacuación utilizando los respectivos comandos en español y en inglés.

Reforzaremos la pronunciación de las palabras difíciles presentes en los comandos de evacuación. Practicaremos 4 tipos de evacuación: en tierra, con humo, ditching planificado y ditching no planificado, y por supuesto tendrás la oportunidad de aclarar tus dudas y… practicar!

Examen Final

Objetivo: Verificar la correcta comprensión y aplicación de los temas vistos durante el curso.

Haremos una evaluación final escrita con preguntas de selección múltiple, con única respuesta.

PARTS OF AN AIRCRAFT

• Nose Gear: The front wheels of the aircraft.

• Radome: The aircraft's radar is inside the radome or nose of the aircraft.

• Door Exit: Provides a means of evacuation for all the occupants of an aircraft during an emergency.

• Cockpit Window Exit: Provides an additional means of evacuation for

pilots during an emergency.

• Aileron: Roll the wings side ward direction.

• Flaps: Increase lift and drag of airplane during takeoff and landing.

• Slats: Adjust the angle of attack of the wings to increase airplane lift during takeoff and landing.

• Fuselage: Holds the structure together and accommodates passengers

and/or cargo. Modern aircraft fuselage may accommodate up to 800 passengers in economy class (A380) and up to 112,700kg cargo.

• Empennage: Also called tail, is the rear part of the aircraft. Usually it

includes the stabilizers, rudder and elevator as many other components. • Engines: Generate thrust to overcome the drag and to move in forward

direction.

• Overwing Exits: Provide a means of evacuation onto the wing, where passengers either continue off the trailing edge by sliding down the extended flaps or by using an evacuation slide that deploys when the exit is opened.

• Horizontal Stabilizer: To maintain the balance of the airplane from moving

up-and-down.

• Vertical Stabilizer: Prevents lateral movements of the airplane. Without a vertical stabilizer, most aircraft would lose lateral control, tend to slip, increase drag and become uncontrollable.

• Auxiliary Power Unit APU: It’s an engine in the tail of the aircraft. It is used

only on the ground. It generates electrical power for the aircraft and is used to start the jet engines.

• Spoilers: Reduce plane speed.

• Rudder: Controls the yaw motion of an airplane. It’s a hinged surface fitted

to the vertical stabilizer. When the rudder is turned to the left, the aircraft turns to the left in the horizontal plane; when the rudder is turned to the right, the aircraft turns to the right. The rudder is used to turn the aircraft left or right on the ground. In the air, however, the rudder is primarily used to coordinate left and right turns.

• Winglets: Used to reduce the vortex at the end of the wing. A vortex is

unstable circular air. It makes drag, and reduces the aircraft's speed and performance.

• Elevator: Increases or decreases lift on the horizontal stabilizer

symmetrically in order to control the pitch motion of an airplane. Elevators are hinged surfaces fitted at the rear of the horizontal stabilizer. They work symmetrically as a pair: when the elevators are up, the aircraft ascends; when the elevators are down, the aircraft descends, and when the elevators are horizontal, the aircraft flies straight.

• Main Landing Gear: The undercarriage, also known as landing gear,

provides a platform for the aircraft to stand as well as plays an important obvious role in landing and take-off.

• Wings: Generate lift to hold airplane in air and control the airflow while

flying.

• Cockpit / Flight Deck: Holds the command and control section of an airplane.

• Anti-Collision Warning Beacon: A red light to warn other aircraft and help

prevent mid-air collisions.

• Pylons: Used to stabilize the air flow behind the wing. Without pylons, the air is unstable. This makes drag, and reduces the aircraft's speed and performance.

• Speed Brakes / Air Brakes: Used to slow the plane in the air and while

landing.

• Cargo Hold: Space on board an aircraft to store "checked" baggage – that which will not safely fit in the passenger cabin.

EMERGENCY EXITS BRIEFING

Identifícate con tu nombre y tu posición en el avión. Pregunta a los viajeros si hablan español, si la respuesta es no, sigue el protocolo a continuación:

Attendant in charge of this area. (Recuerda acompañar esta información con tu lenguaje corporal).

Recuérdales que están ubicados en una salida de emergencia y pregúntales si están dispuestos a colaborar en caso de alguna eventualidad:

• You are located next to an emergency exit. Are you willing to help in

case of an emergency?

Entrégales las TISE y la ISP en la página correspondiente. Indícales que lean las instrucciones, y que en caso de alguna duda te contacten.

• Please read the following instructions, if you have any questions, please ask.

Pregúntales si cumplen con los requisitos estipulados en la TISE: • Do you meet all the requirements of the card?

Si el viajero NO cumple los parámetros:

We are sorry, but due to aviation regulations we will have to relocate you.

Recuérdales, si aplica, que todo el equipaje de mano y elementos sueltos deben quedar guardados en los portaequipajes para despegues y aterrizajes:

• Remember that you must stow all your luggage and loose items in the

overhead compartments.

Informa al resto de la tripulación sobre la presencia de viajeros que sólo hablan inglés ubicados en las salidas de emergencia.

If we need to use these exits, please follow these steps:

LISTEN to the command in Spanish given by the crew: “EVACUAR, EVACUAR, EVACUAR”. OBSERVE that the outside conditions are better than the ones inside and the propellers have stopped (ATR72). ACT BY removing the window… (ATR72, A318, A319, A320)

opening the door… (A321, A330, B787) … as you can see on the sticker (señala el sticker), help others exit the plane and send them away. (señala la ruta de evacuación). If you have more questions, please let me know. Thanks for your attention.

You will OBSERVE the outside conditions;

If you see danger, block the exit and redirect people to another one.

If the conditions are good, when you LISTEN to the command in Spanish:

“SITUACIÓN CONTROLADA”,

Do nothing,

But if you LISTEN to the command:

“EVACUAR, EVACUAR, EVACUAR”,

ACT immediately:

− Grab this handle,

− Open the exit,

− Pull the red handle,

− Check that the slide is deployed.

− Command others to get out,

− Help incapacitated people,

− Finally, you will get out and don’t let people return to the plane.

OUTSIDE

− You will be the first ones to get out of the airplane,

− Stay at the bottom of the slide,

− Receive the people and

− Send them away.

− Find a knife and

− Open the overhead compartment/door,

− Take out the raft,

− Close the compartment/door,

− Bring it to the exit;

− Coordinate throwing it sharply outwards and upwards;

− Inflate your vests,

− Get onto the raft,

− Balance weight and capacity of the raft until full.

Then you will:

− Find a knife,

− Cut the mooring line and

− Go away.
