Introduction
Welcome!
This course reviews how to enter Safe Harbor codes on line 16, Form 1095-C
and is only necessary for users who are not using an ACA Base Plan within the
Essential ACA feature in ADP Workforce Now Version 2.

Introduction
The codes entered in line 16 provide the IRS with information to administer the
employer shared responsibility provisions. Basically, line 16 tells the IRS which
Safe Harbor the employer qualifies for and if the employee actually enrolled in
Health Care Coverage.
The employer enters the applicable line 16 code if any. If none of the codes apply
for a given month, the month is left blank.

Do you have an ACA Base Plan?
If you have one (or more) ACA Base
plans setup in Essential ACA, then line
16 data is populated for each employee
based on the settings you’ve indicated,
including the Safe Harbor codes. You
will not need to enter any information or
continue with this material unless you
wish to learn how to modify the data.
To verify if you have an ACA Base plan,
go to the ACA Benefit Offerings page to
review your benefit plan setup.

Do you have an ACA Base Plan? (continued)
If you do not have an ACA Base Plan set up, and you are using ADP Workforce
Now Version 2, Essential ACA will populate line 16 for you with the exception of
the Safe Harbor codes, that is, codes 2F, 2G, and 2H. If these codes are
applicable to any of your employees within any given month, you will need to
enter these codes.

How to Enter Data in Line 16
1. Navigate to ACA Health Compliance.
2. Click Waiting on Approvals.
3. Click the appropriate entity.
4. Click the employee you wish to edit.
5. Click Edit in the upper-right corner.
6. Enter the appropriate data on line 16.

Line 16 Codes
Line 16 should only be entered by you when certain criteria is met. The
instructions on the IRS website contain a description of when each code is
applicable, Instructions for Forms 1094-C and 1095-C
Additionally, ACA Health Compliance includes some brief explanations of each
code by clicking on the question mark, then selecting the code. An example is
displayed on the next page.

If you are using an ACA Base Plan, or not, and you simply want to change a
code you’ve already entered, click the arrow under the entry. The previous
value will appear. Type in the new code.
