In 2002 it moved into its new seat, the
Multifunctional Center in via S. Marco.
SOME HISTORY
The don Calabria Center was founded on
1954 by don Giovanni Calabria soon after
the Second World War.

The don Calabria Center applies mainly to
disadvantaged or disabled people, with a particular
attention for situations of the so called “new poverty”
social areas.
The activities of the Center are in the fields of:• rehabilitation• vocational training and re-training • social promotion and inclusion.

Since several decades the Center is active in the international field. The international experience is empowering by continuous exchanges and comparisons with other partner organisations at the European level.
The Center is one of the founding members of E.P.R., the European network of Centres working in the field of rehabilitation of people with disability.

Don Calabria Center works for the community trough four
areas of activities and services integrated with one another:
• Rehabilitation Area• Social Area• Training Area• Sport Area
THE AREAS OF THE CENTER

Established in 1977 as a structure for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities, it works in the framework of the Regional Health Service and provides medical and rehabilitation treatments to:- Children and young suffering from development disturbs, motor, sensorial, expressive and psychological limitations;- Adults with physical disabilities due to neurological or orthopaedic causes; - Young and adults with TBI outcomes;

• The educational/occupational daily Center for adults with disabilities where the activities implemented aim to reach a personal autonomy and to the expression of individual abilities. Service users in 2006: 84
• Hosting homes , where adults with disabilities are hosted, helped by operators who stay in the house with them in turn. In this environment, they can increase their sense of responsibility and their autonomy.

In the training and rehabilitation process at don Calabria Centre, sport is a fundamental tool for reducing disabilities and disadvantages and empowering social life. The sport area is open not only to internal clients, but also to external ones.

Social co-operative “Centro di lavoro” (working centre) meets disadvantaged people’s needs for employment and job training.
- Prisoners; - Mentally or physically disabled people;- Socially disadvantaged people.
