Founder of Vipassana Support International, prominent Mindfulness Educator and Research Consultant to Harvard Medical School. Every day, every person has emotional experiences. Can we experience painful emotions such as anger, fear and sadness without suppressing them, but also without suffering? Is it possible to deepen the fulfillment we receive from positive emotions such as joy, humour and love? Is there a way in which emotional experiences can become positively transformative? In this workshop, Shinzen Young will teach a simple, systematic technique for mindfully tracing emotional experiences. This technique can enable professionals to productively engage with emotions in a variety of contexts, for both self-care and for supporting patients, clients, students and colleagues. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Professionals interested in learning about mindfulness as a tool to work with emotions in healthcare or education (early childhood through post-secondary), including: teachers, professors, physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and any other health care professional. This event also provides a networking opportunity to connect with others in your community. There is no charge for this event. This event is made possible by a generous grant from the Healthy Work Environment Partnership and Innovation Fund, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
