Sibte Hassan came from Aisha Bawany College. A smart and well dressedman with a stylish hair cut. Many of his cousins were studying in Dowprobably from first to final years. Babar Hameed was a buddy close to heartfrom day one. In the first year his circle of friends increased in diameter withShahab Javid, Hassan Arshad, Shakil Obaid, Iqbal Hashmani and many more.The one common ground of their bonding was proclivity for Jamiat Talaba.Sibte was also a sturdy worker of the party, though not very verbal or on theforefront. Comradeship, studies and politics remained the theme up to thefourth year.

One path of diversity opened up in the final year when Sibte realized that hehas developed a soft corner for one of the sweet, quiet and good-lookinggirls of the class. The initial subtle feeling of liking enhanced with thepassing of days.

Aqeela was somber, very polite, full of decorum and courtesy joined thebatch of ‘79 from St.Lawrence’s College. A serious student from the start,she was mostly seen to move with Sofia, Saba, Batul and Rehana. Sibte andAqeela entered into matrimony soon after graduation. It was a matter ofgreat fulfillment and happiness for the friends and acquaintance of the brideand the groom that the story ended on an optimistic and ceremonious note.

Practical life started when Sibte opened a general practice clinic in Karachi.It was an impressive beginning as the clinic provided a wide range ofservices under one roof and was quite self sufficient. The bug for higherstudies prompted Sibte to look forward and ultimately this led to winding upof the clinic and migration to the greener pastures of England.

A new struggle started. He completed his MRCP and looked at Neurology asthe discipline of his liking. He picked up a research job for two years andthat earned him a doctorate. He now practices as a ConsultantNeurophysiologist at the University Hospital of York which is attached to theMedical School of York and Hull. His sub-specialty is seizure disorders andneuropathic pain.

Aqeela stayed at home initially to raise her two daughters. However, as theystarted school, she returned to the medical profession and completed hertraining and qualification (MRCGP) to become a General Practitioner. She is nowworking as a GP in Bradford.

The family settled in a village in North Yorkshire. Aqeela looked after thetwo baby girls and brought a never-ending sense of happiness to their lives.Madeeha and Nazeeha have grown up now. Madeeha is an actuary at theInternational Audit Firm, PWC. Nazeeha is doing her PhD in Neurosciencesat Imperial College London. Sibte and Aqeela have maintained their youthto this day. The appeal of their personalities is sustained and continuing.Marsha Allah a very blessed couple which has added elegance and aromato the batch of ‘79.
