Tonnelle Avenue Traffic NightmareGets Worse And Worse As Sacco AndHis Political Allies Line Their Pockets With Money

Accidents, injuries, traffic jams day and night, air and noise pollutionlevels increasing every day - Boss Sacco has turned 1 & 9 (TonnelleAvenue) into a death alley.

In 18 months, almost 200 accidents have happened in the area between88th and 89th Streets and there has never been a traffic study taken bythe State or North Bergen for Tonnelle Avenue.

In the New Jersey Senate, Sacco is in charge of all the roads in the state.As State Senator, Sacco is the Chairman of the Department ofTransportation (he is in charge of all financing and decides what roadsget repaired)

The site of so many deaths every year on 1 & 9 (Tonnelle Ave.) is knownas “Death Valley,” the site of so many deaths every year.

North Bergen has the worst traffic conditions in the whole country,according to a recent national study, and the accidents and fatalities areincreasing. As traffic piles up on Tonnelle Avenue, it is forcing more andmore cars and trucks onto our side streets where our children play, andonto to Kennedy Blvd. that is now a virtual parking lot.

Sacco says he has “nothing to do with the construction” on TonnelleAvenue but as Mayor he has issued permits for all the construction anddevelopment for the past 20 years! Compounding Sacco’s lies to thepeople of North Bergen: he is also the Chairman of the Department ofTransportation, which has control over all road construction.

All Sacco is concerned with are contributions from developers andcontractors – not the traffic jams, pollution and injuries to residents.Overdevelopment on Tonnelle Avenue may be a dream for Saccoand his developer buddies, but it is a nightmare for the people ofNorth Bergen.

Sacco has taken hundreds of thousands of dollars fromdevelopers and contractors instead of protecting the peopleof North Bergen.

More traffic accidents and deaths occur on Tonnelle Avenuethan any other highway in the country.

La Pesadilla Del Tráfico En La AvenidaTonnelle Empeora Mientras Sacco ySus Aliados Políticos Se Llenan LosBolsillos De Dinero.Accidentes, lesiones, embotellamientos día y noche, niveles de poluciónambiental y sonora en aumento diario: el Jefe Sacco ha transformado elcruce de la avenida 1 con la 9 (la Avenida Tonnelle) en un verdaderoinfierno. Sacco solo se dedica a mentirle a la población de North Bergen:él es inclusive el presidente del departamento de transporte, el cualcontrola toda la construcción a lo largo de las rutas.

Su única preocupación son las contribuciones monetarias deemprendedores y constructoras, y no los embotellamientos, lacontaminación o las lesiones de los residentes. NORTH BERGEN CONCERNED CITIZENS GROUP OFFERS A WORLDOF KNOWLEDGE THROUGH ITS FREESEMINARS AND CLASSES

Providing critical information on today’s most important topics is a toppriority for the North Bergen Concerned Citizens Group (NBCCG), and inrecent weeks the organization has had large turnouts for seminars on thenew Federal Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”), bankruptcy law andimmigration, and domestic violence.

These programs, taught by specialists in their fields, offer residents anopportunity to obtain professional knowledge at no cost.

“We are a community-based organization that is committed to reachingout to everyone and to giving people the information they need to makedecisions that will impact their lives and the lives of their families,” saysNBCCG Founder and President Larry Wainstein. “As we move forward we’llcontinue to offer these kinds of programs and we are always open to newideas.”

More than 50 residents turned out for the Affordable Care Act presentationconducted by Tatiana Castrillon, Hudson County Coordinator for GetCovered America and Fausto Molina, NBCCG Program Director. Theseresidents received the latest information on how to obtain health care andhealth insurance under the new Federal health care plan.

NBCCG also recently held an important presentation entitled, ‘Bankruptcy:Chapter 7 & Immigration.’ Conducted by attorney Carlos A. Ferrer, andparalegals Heidy Quintero and Olga Calderone (all of the Alum & Ferrerlaw firm), the presentation provided valuable information for residents.

Author Maria Estel Jimenez and Julia Bello, a psychotherapist and Presidentof the Association of Abuse Women Inc., held an important seminar ondomestic violence that was well attended.

North Bergen Students With Special Needs Are At Risk

Disabled students left abandoned on streetcorners and empty school busses.

Recently, an 8 year old school boy with a genetic disorder knownas Russell-Silver Syndrone was left unattended for 5 hours on aschool bus. Since North Bergen refuses to provide services fordisabled children in its school district these students must bebussed out of town.

Unfortunately, this is not the first incident. Prior to this atrocity,another disabled child was left alone and unattended on adangerous corner for hours. The North Bergen Board of Educationhas taken no action against the bus company.

Los estudiantes discapacitados son abandonados en lasesquinas y en ómnibus escolares vacíos.

Hace poco, un niño de 8 años con un problema genético conocidocomo el Síndrome de Russell-Silver fue encontrado solo yabandonado por 5 horas en un ómnibus escolar. Estos escolaresdeben ser transportados en ómnibus hacia otras zonas, ya que NorthBergen no brinda servicios para niños discapacitados en su distritoescolar.

IN ADDITION TO THE MILLIONS ALREADY GIVEN NORTHBERGEN HAS RECEIVED AN ADDITIONAL $3,704,036.93

Governor Christie’s State Department of Education has announcedthat the North Bergen school district will receive $3,704,036.93 tothe cost of projects, which represent $6,455,701 in total estimatedcosts.

“These grants will go a long way towards providing safer learningenvironments for all the students in North Bergen, both now andwell into the future.” said SDA Chief Operating Officer Marc Larkins.

Governor Christie addresses health and safety issues, studentovercrowding, and critical needs. The North Bergen school districthas received over $10.6 million in grants from the state.

Governor Christie has put party politics aside even though he is arepublican governor and North Bergen is being run by a DemocratPolitical Machine. Governor Christi is concerned with the health,welfare, and safety of our children, not party politics.

Since Governor Christie has taken office, the State Department ofEducation has given the North Bergen school system Millions ofDollars for our students.

Just in the high school alone, a one-story edition to the existinghigh school which will include the Nurse Health, Guidance andstudent use areas with alterations of approximately 5,ooo squarefeet will be funded by the state monies.

Restoration of the brick façade including installation of control andexpansion joints and roof repair will be included in the funding, aswell as new electric upgrades for the school. In addition, there willbe new windows for Franklin and Lincoln Elementary School alsoincluded in the state funding of North Bergen projects.

The Governors State Department of Education Forces Sacco To Return $180,000 In Taxpayer Monies

Despite a 2007 State law that caps the amount of money paidto public employees at $15,000 for unused sick and vacationtime, Boss Sacco still tried to extort an extra $180,000 inpayments for himself until the State Department of Educationstepped in and demanded that he return the money to thetaxpayers.

But don’t feel sorry for the Boss – by claiming he has 445unused days, he will collect over $330,000 of our tax dollarswhen he retires. And he still tried to grab another $180,000by saying he was not aware of the law, even though he wasa member of the Senate in 2007 that voted for the law!

Governor Chris Christie’s spokesman said, “It is incredible forhim (Sacco) to claim ignorance of the law…for the benefitsof his sweetened contract. He should be giving it all up and

demonstrating his commitment to taxpayers not himself.For goodness sake, he’s already guaranteed an obscenelylarge state pension because of his three public jobs with atotal salary of nearly $400,000. This is the stuff that drivesregular, hard-working taxpayers nuts.”

Boss Sacco Devises New Ways To Rip Off Taxpayers

Boss Sacco isn’t done finding new ways around state lawsfor school administrators. Because a state law was passedsetting the maximum salary for an Assistant Superintendantat $155,000 a year, Sacco has changed his title to Supervisorof Primary and Secondary Education. By changing the titlehe got around the law and makes over $230,000 a year injust one of his several public jobs! Boss Sacco – devising newways every day to steal the taxpayers’ money.

Por Dios, ya se aseguró una pensión estatal obscena a raíz desus tres empleos públicos cuyo salario total es de casi USD400.000. Este es el tipo de cosas que hacen que el pagador deimpuestos común y trabajador se enfurezca.”

Sin embargo, Sacco no se cansa de buscar nuevas formas deevadir las leyes que regulan a los secretarios académicos. Dadoque la disposición estatal aprobada indica que el salariomáximo de los secretarios académicos es de USD155.000anuales, Sacco modificó su título a supervisor deeducación primaria y secundaria para burlar la ley y lograrganar más de USD 230.000 anuales en un solo empleo público.Jefe Sacco – descubriendo nuevas formas de robar el dinerode los contribuyentes día a día.

It seems these samedevelopers end up being contributors to the Sacco politicalcampaigns. As a result of this sell-out to greedy developers, RiverRoad is clogged with heavy traffic 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekwith a dramatic increase in air and noise pollution.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds of rock were removed fromthese historic cliffs to make room for a bank, pharmacy and coffeeshop. After this project was approved by Sacco’s Planning Board, itwas required to go before the County Planning Board for approvalsince River Road is a county road. The Planner for Hudson Countydid not approve the project and it was rejected.

Then, an irate and angry Mayor/Senator Sacco went into action.The County Planner was forced to leave his job and the project wasultimately approved by the County.

Despite the protests of hundreds of residents, Boss Sacco toredown large parts of the historic Palisades Cliffs while pocketingtens of thousands of dollars from greedy developers.

While State Senator Brian Stack (and Mayor of Union City)introduced legislation to Save the Palisades and prevent thedestruction of this unique historical site by greedy developers,Sacco came to the defense of developers by using his politicalorganization to attack Stack, falsely claiming that Stack was against“progress.”

It is crystal clear that as long as Boss Sacco is mayor, the hardworking people of North Bergen will continue to be sold outto greedy out of town developers.

El urbanistadel condado de Hudson no aprobó el proyecto y el mismo fuerechazado. Fue entonces que el amigo de las constructoras, elalcalde y Senador Sacco, indignado y enojado, puso manos a laobra. El urbanista del condado fue forzado a dejar su trabajo y elproyecto fue finalmente aprobado por el condado.

Once one of the finest high schools in the State, North BergenHigh School has received failing grades from the New JerseyDepartment of Education – again and again and again.The latest State study found that North Bergen High School didnot meet any State targets in preparing our students for thefuture. The rest of the news is even worse.

• The graduation rate has dropped every year since Sacco becameMayor

Illegal Dumping Of HazardousAsbestos Materials IncreasesWhile Sacco Does Nothing

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has once againtaken “enforcement action” in its ongoing attempts to stop illegaldumping in North Bergen. An investigation by the Department foundthat “hazardous hydrocarbons and other contaminants that could posea threat to human health and wildlife” exists as a result of the illegaldumping of 6,000 cubic meters of contaminated asphalt from out oftown road construction projects.

A federal lawsuit has also been filed in the case against one company fortaking contaminated materials from a road construction site on Route 3and dumping said contamination at a site in North Bergen. According toAssistant DEP Commissioner Wolf Skacel, the contaminants pose a threatto “human health and wildlife.”

A Pattern of Environmental Genocide

For more than 20 years, Senator Sacco has allowed dumpers to makeNorth Bergen the dumping ground for haulers of contaminated waste.Nearly 6,000 tons of contaminated, out of town waste is trucked intoNorth Bergen almost daily by the hauler Eagle Recycling. This companyhas been the focus of a federal investigation into the dumping of 16million tons of construction debris containing asbestos. According toDore La Posta, Director of the Federal EPA Region 2 Office, this asbestosis an “imminent danger to the health of residents and the surroundingcommunities.” As a result of this continued illegal dumping, a study bythe Federal Clean Air Pollution organization discloses that North Bergen’shazardous air pollutants have increased the chances of getting cancerby 50%.

Why has Sacco’s local authority allowed this dangerous condition tocontinue? An examination of the State Election Law Commission Reportsdiscloses that Eagle Recycling alone has contributed in excess of$130,000 into Sacco campaign political accounts and has hired severalof Mayor Sacco’s “consultants.”

It is crystal clear that the only way to stop illegal dumping inNorth Bergen is to dump Sacco.

El Desecho ilegal de MaterialesTóxicos y Asbestos Aumenta y SaccoNo Hace Nada Para Detenerlo.Una vez más, el Departamento de Protección Ambiental de Nueva Jerseyha tomado “medidas coercitivas” en otro de sus reiterados intentos pordetener el desecho ilegal en North Bergen. Una investigación realizadapor dicho Departamento descubrió que los “hidrocarbonos tóxicos yotros contaminantes que podrían significar una amenaza a la salud delosindividuos y a los animales” son el resultado del desecho ilegal de 6000metros cúbicos de asfalto contaminado proveniente de obras deconstrucción de carreteras de otras localidades.

El caso también cuenta con una demanda federal presentada contra unaempresa que desechaba en un punto de North Bergen materialescontaminados generados por la construcción de un camino en la Ruta3. Dicha empresa ha estado en la mira de una investigaciónfederal por el desecho de 16 millones de toneladas de residuos deconstrucción que contenían asbesto. Según Dore La Posta, Directora dela oficina federal de la 2ª región de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental(EPA), este material es un “peligro inminente para la salud de loshabitantes de la región y de las comunidades aledañas.”

Un estudio realizado por la organización Federal Clean Air Pollutionmuestra que, debido al constante desecho ilegal, los contaminantes delaire con elementos tóxicos en North Bergen aumentaron lasposibilidades de contraer cáncer en un 50%.

North Bergen Commissioner Frank Gargiulo attends a Meeting with Larry Wainstein & Mario Blanch to support Governor Chris Christie at Sabor Latin Bistro

Christie, seeking reelection and handily beating his Democraticopponent in the polls, said residents of Puerto Rico, Guam andother territories will now be able to get a New Jersey driver’slicense as easily as any resident of another state who moves here.

"Our job in New Jersey is to make everyone feel welcome andthis is another step in doing that," Christie said this morning atthe Sabor Latin Bistro restaurant in North Bergen.

The announcement was met with a standing ovation from thepacked North Bergen restaurant.

Although Latino voters tend to cast ballots for Democrats,Christie has won the support from the community. The LatinoLeadership Alliance of New Jersey’s Political Action Committee,which backed Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine over Christie in 2009,has endorsed the governor this time around instead of state Sen.Barbara Buono, Christie's main opponent.

Present today among the governor’s fans was township residentJacky Zuniga.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Zunigasaid. "I heard he was coming here last night and

I wanted to meet him."

North Bergen Commissioner Frank Gargiulo,also met Christie in the flesh for the first time.

Commissioner Gargiulo attended the meeting with Mr. LarryWainstein, President of the North Bergen ConcernedCitizens and Mario Blanch, attorney at law.

“It was refreshing to see Frank Gargiulosupporting Governor Christie and it was an

honor to personally meet with the Governor, “said Mario Blanch.

History teaches us that whenever a person attempts tochallenge the status quo of the political machine in HudsonCounty that person becomes the target of innuendo andslanderous attacks by the high price so called spokesperson forthe organization . This is so evident in the recent attacks againstLarry Wainstein from the political organization that hascontrolled North Bergen for better than the past quarter of acentury. I say, hats off to Larry Wainstein for standing up andmoving forward with his organization, North Bergen ConcernedCitizens.

The appearance of Larry Wainstain has had a double positiveaffect in North Bergen. No question an increasing number ofcitizens are working together with Larry and the North BergenConcerned citizens but I want to discuss the positive effect hehas upon the present officials who govern North Bergen.

For years the Sacco administration has ignored the growingdifferent cultures that have become a part of our town and theneed for education training and guidance in the areas ofimmigration, income taxes and learning English, to name just afew. Larry Wainstein and the Concerned Citizens of NorthBergen began to sponsor free classes to provide these socialservices to the residents of North Bergen. This leadership ofLarry Wainstein not only attracted many residents but it alsogained the attention of the Sacco Administration.

Finally, following the lead of the North Bergen ConcernedCitizens the Sacco administration is now offering these socialservices at various locations throughout the township.

Mayor Nick Sacco may be a senior citizen but I am happy to seethat he still remembers the child hood game of “Follow theLeader”.

La historia nos enseña que cuando una persona intenta desafiar elstatus quo de la maquinaria política en el condado de Hudson esapersona se convierte en el blanco de insinuaciones y ataquescalumniosos por el alto precio de los llamados portavoz de laorganización.

Esto ha sido tan evidente en los recientes ataques contra LarryWainstein por la organización política que ha controlado a NorthBergen en el pasado por mas de un cuarto de siglo.

Me quito el sombrero ante Larry Wainstein por ponerse de pie y seguiradelante con su organización, Ciudadanos por el Bienestar de NorthBergen.

La aparición de Larry Wainstein ha tenido un efecto positivo doble enNorth Bergen. Sin duda un número cada vez mayor de los ciudadanosestán trabajando junto con Larry y "Los Ciudadanos por el Bienestarde North Bergen".

Por años la administración de Sacco ha ignorado las diferentes culturascrecientes que se han convertido en parte de nuestra ciudad y lanecesidad de capacitación en la educación y orientación en materiade inmigración, impuestos sobre la renta y el aprendizaje Inglés, pornombrar sólo algunos.

Larry Wainstein y los Ciudadanos por el Bienestar de North Bergencomenzaron a patrocinar clases gratuitas y a proporcionar estosservicios sociales a los residentes de North Bergen. El liderazgo deLarry Wainstein no sólo atrajo a muchos de los residentes, sino quetambién llamó la atención de la administración de Sacco.

Por último, siguiendo el ejemplo de Los Ciudadanos por el Bienestarde North Bergen, la administración de Sacco está ofreciendo estosservicios sociales en varios lugares del pueblo.

El alcalde Nick Sacco puede ser una persona mayor, pero me alegraver que aún recuerda el juego de niños "Sigue al líder".
